2 Chapter 2-The Store

After once more awakening to this world, I knew this was not a dream, and that this world was now my reality. The problem however was all the other species that surrounded me and the "System?" that appeared yesterday. I didn't know where this system came from, what it was, and I didn't honestly know how I was going to react with other species.

Good Afternoon host and welcome back to your Commodity Store 1.

Seeing the message I smiled a bit, but also sighed in tiredness manner imagining what I needed to do. I also wondered what the cost of having the System was. Looking at everything my tiredness and dullness from the constant pressure of my old life got to me and I decided to just do as the thing asked. It's not like it was any different from my old world. Come to work, do as the abusive manager asks as they expect you to do as your told to make up for your past, excetera, excetera. "What does the system wish for me to do in return for this store."

Processing Question...

Answer processed...

The Host's first step is to reach 1 customer, There is no time limit on this. This will help determine the difficulty of future quests so the host will not be overwhelmed with impossible tasks. In return the system will take your ability to give negative emotions by absorbing all your hatred, fear, and other such things. This Skill will prevent any influence that may be caused by mind controlling powers, and will allow you to always be calm when it's necessary until your emotions calm down.

The system gains power from four things; souls, which the system will not expect the host to get as this is considered a separate and special currency. Secondly energies such as solar, kinetic, mana, ki, and other such things. Third, the negative emotions from the host. And finally currecy. This is done by taking the thought energy equivalent of the value of the money you get for the people of the world you reside in. Unfortunately if you took all the money in a world the people would become creatures unable to think. To counter this the system expects the host to give or purchase things from the world they are in to keep money circling.

The system has a few functions but first say Skills.

"Skills," I asked in confusion till I realized that I was in fact the employee of some sort of sentient game system.

Skills-

A Free Mind- Lv.Max This Skill will prevent any influence that may be caused by mind controlling powers, and will allow you to always be calm when it's necessary until your emotions calm down. The only exception is the feeling of happiness. The system keeps this skill always at max power as the system absorbs these negative emotions for power.

Bargaining- Lv.1 When buying items from other people you are allowed to try and lower there prices within reason. This is not allowed for items created by the system.

Seeing this I smiled and looked around my store before finally realizing something extremely important. I have only one thing on sale.

Lv.1-Rank F- White Construction paper- This paper can barely stay together and has multiple holes through out itself also it may attempt to flake apart and break. This paper also has the ability to enhance the writing speed of a person who writes on its surface. This effect will disappear when it is attempted to be recycled so no one can steal this product from the host and study its effects and reason behind them. The current effect of the Construction paper has been written in the corner of the page on its front side so no one is unaware of it's effects. The speed of writing when using this paper is 10% faster than when normal paper is used. It also is sped up in a completely safe way so nothing become illegible beyond the skills of the writer their self. In relation to the world you are on The common paper has a quality equal to level 5 while the best is only at level 7. Cost=1 copper per 50 pieces of paper. Currently you have only 5000 pieces of paper you can sale a day.

History of the item type selected. Paper has been a necessity since a long time ago. A few examples and for records, guild notices, and the writings of laws. Paper of this world has never had the ability to enhance writing speed before. Paper quality from modern earth is of a level 10 quality which is the limit you can reach without a system's support.

How Item Selection works for the system. The system will select an Item or you can buy a certain type of item from the Shop. The items are all F rank originally, but can be upgraded by selling the item itself. When level 10 is reached the item stops growing and unlocks two things, one the next tier item of it in the shop for sale.

The second thing is a prestige option for the item you have which costs souls. This thankfully doesn't mess with higher tiers of this item. Also as this item is prestiging it's effects are reset but in return the quality has the equivalent of a plus 1 pseudo level for each prestige of the item. This level only influences the quality and not the effects of the item.

This was an amazing thing to me even if the whole message was nothing but a block of mostly unprocessed information. If what I was reading was to be believed I could eventually show up with some overpowered superqualitied item that changed the nature of this world. It made me excited. Deciding to test something I called out "Item." Just as I expected at that moment a screen popped up listing the items I could sell and there amount It also showed how much that I needed to sale. It showed me how to get other items and their costs. However I had another thought now. Could I get larger amounts of the current items to sell.

Host for every 10 Prestige levels an item doubles the amount of it's stored stock. After all how could you sell across the universe if you don't have a way to increase the stock. The reason for the large number of Prestiges each time is that the system doesn't want to flood the world with overpowered items to soon in such a high quantity. It should be a gradual change to the world. To accommodate this gradual change the system has given the user eternal youth.

As I was about to start going to the back of the store and check out what the storage room was like, I heard the door open up. As soon as it was opened fully I noticed a person in rags walk in looking extremely confused. Smiling I went to meet him as he was technically a customer since he came in.

Hello valued customer I answered with a large smile as I tried to make him feel comfortable. Unfortunately my energy was a little low, but seeing me walk up and try the man hurriedly straightened up as if I passed some sort of test. "Hmmmmm..... at least your not a arrogant rich boy. You also don't base others upon appearance so I suppose I could let you sell here. My only question is, who are the Falkier family."

"Note host, that for the system to allow your existence to remain in this world it had to create a few bodys. It then used these to create a place for you to exist in this world. All "Family" the host owns are actually just system run Ai's. The reason for the hosts familiarity with this world is this. The body the host is using now is one of the previous Ai's the system made.

Figuring out my situation and the fact that the man before me was likely either living here before I came along, or he was a previous owner of the place I sighed in my heart once more in annoyance at the troubles i'd meet. I also gained a bit of a healthy fear towards the thing that can just create living beings.

He probably won't buy anything in here at all: I quickly came to the realization however in case I was wrong I walked with him as he walked over to the paper that I had on a shelf in the store. I guessed the system would take care of stocking the items. Smiling as this meant I would gain higher profits I started telling him about what I'm selling. Unfortunately after a couple of words he broke me off.

Smiling arrogantly the man seemed to think he was above me he started talking once more " I see that you have paper in here even if its pretty poorly kept I could still recycle it to create better paper. So what's the price. Smiling I unhesitatingly said 1 copper for every 50 sheets. However as soon as the man heard what I said he instantly felt a bit cheated and commented on it " I agree that quality wise of the paper its worth that much however with all the damage I would say its only worth about a tenth of that price."

As soon as I heard that I thought back to a novel I had once read a novel called Gourmet Cooking In Another World. Most prices were set there because of the hidden benefits. "The Construction paper when written upon increases the writing speed safely without causing any mistakes by 10 percent," I said deciding to enlighten the person about why the goods were priced the way they were.

Obviously the man wasn't born yesterday, and as such knew that this kind of product hadn't surfaced before and as such likely wasn't going to likely come out of a shop from nowhere. This was why the man didn't believe me when I had said this right away. Deciding to see whether the man was telling the truth first before he tried making trouble for his family for lying to him; he took out a pen from apparently no where, and he started writing on a sheet of paper before I could say anything. Quickly however he quickly realized that I had told the truth in quite a shock.

"My apologies for not believing you," he couldn't help but state "As such I'll buy all the paper you have as well as that piece I tested it all out on. I'm not about to rob you of even a single piece of this stuff. I'm not that low of a person. Hearing this I smiled in relief. Maybe this type of life will actually be quite enjoyable seeing my first day. I just hoped the system didn't try to increase the difficulty of my missions unreasonably thanks to this beneficial unreasonable situation I completed my mission in and in such a spectacular way.

"OK then I have a total of 5000 Sheets including the one that you just used. That will be a total of 1 silver," I said instinctively almost as if I knew a silver equaled 100 copper. Wait I did know I stopped in shock upon realizing this. Thinking about it for a second I realized that it was probably the bargaining skill that had saved me from the embarrassment of not knowing how the currency worked in this world.

The man in front of me handed me a silver coin and as such with a wave of his hand he accepted the papers into a storage ring he had hidden earlier and left. It seemed cultivation novels were also a part of this world. This world was truly unique. It seemed to hold western, Japanese, and Chinese cultures all in one place. Smiling and waving as the man walked away I yelled "Thank you sir for coming in and buying my goods, be sure to come again." So with that the man was gone.

"The system wishes to congratulate the host on accomplishing the first quest. The Reward shall appear in the shop tomorrow. Secondly by selling out of all of your stock the store has now been automatically closed. Thirdly your Rank F- White Construction paper has leveled up from Lv.1 to Lv.2. This was accomplished by selling 5000 sheets. The next goal is 10000 sheets of paper to level up to Lv.3."

Smiling in pleasure at all the generous rewards as well as the silver coin in my hand I went of to the back of the room and explored the shop some more looking at all the repairs that had been done. There was even a DNA testing lock on the store to let only me in when the store is closed. Taking the coin I put it in the register up front only to see it disappear.
