2 Chapter 1 - I start my Adventure!

15 Years Later--

"Mom. Dad. I'll be going now!"

In this world, 15 years old is considered to be an adult.

Kids leave their parent's to look for a job.

However, since young, I had repeatedly proclaimed to my parents that I will become an Adventurer. So, they didn't go against my desires.

"Lex, it's your own life, you can do whatever you want."

"Take good care of yourself...If it gets too harsh out there, you are always welcomed back here."

My parents left such parting words as they watched the silhouette of their son leave the village.

"Yep! I'm leaving now!"

Waving my hand a final time, I sprinted out of his village.

"Lex, do your best!"

"Be safe!"

The other villages were also cheering for me

From now on, I can start a life of freedom...!

I won't be bound to my past titles--

"Come on! Let's become an Adventurer!"

I raised my hand and declared to the sky.

Let me explain a little about this world.

This world is populated by various Tolkienesque races, including Humans, Dwarfs, Orcs, Trolls, Elves, Dragons, Fairies, Necromancers, Liches and the Merfolk.

There are of course, Monsters or Demon Beasts as well. These creatures are said to attack any of the races regardless; because of their predatory and killer instincts.

These Demon Beasts can come in many forms, including slimes, swamp creatures, wild ape like creatures and even fire spirits.

This land is also blessed with Mana, which enables the races to utilize magic. However, not everyone is able to use magic.

Different races make use of magic differently as well. For example, the Dwarfs make use of magic to forge weapons while the Necromancers make use of dark magic to perform sorcery.

There are various Kingdoms ruled by several races, such as the Merfolk, Dwarfs and Elves--

Although the human race itself has only one kingdom; Weldyn.

The place where I was born is just a small village located on the outskirts of the kingdom.

There are many skills and forms of labor performed by the humans but the one I am aiming for is to be an "Adventurer."

To become an Adventurer, one must register with the Adventurer Guild in Tirigaz, located in the heart of Weldyn.

The main job of an Adventurer is to subjugate Demon Beasts and carry out missions and quests assigned by the Guild.

Different from the army which protects the Kingdom against threats and possible invasions by other races, Adventurer's normally act independently or as a party. However, to challenge a quest independently requires great skills and courage as there is a high possibility of death involved when challenging a Demon Beast.

Now--

To the south-west, there lies the Aethenwoods, one of the many Greats Forests home to the wise Elves.

The Dwarfs have secluded themselves to caves buried deep within the mountains while the Merfolk are located in the Far North, where the mountains of Dorth approach by the coast; the Merfolk city of Jotha.

The Orcs are a race who frequently pillage and raid other places, starting wars with other races in order to acquire more land and they have presences in various parts of this world.

The Necromancers and those who practice dark magic...well--

Not many know their true identity or are aware of their whereabouts.

The trolls are normally found deep within caves and this has led to constant outbreak of fighting between them and the Dwarfs.

Now, back to where I was.

I spent all morning participating in the maturity ceremony so I left a little bit late.

Even the nearest town, Tougai, is a little...

Hmm..it will probably take me half a day to get there on foot.

I really wanted to finish the "Adventurer Registration" forms as soon as possible but it would take me quite a while to reach Tirigaz.

I wanted to purchase some provisions before I reached the Adventurer's Guild.

I should hurry up then.

I raised my feet.

By stuffing both of my legs with magic power--

I can fly without any restraint!!

POOF!

The next thing I knew, I was already up in the air.

Lets see, Tougai Town...

I started to scan my surroundings.

Oh right there! Found it!

Guess I should use the short-range teleportation magic to get there...

However, my eyes soon landed on a foreign object--

That is--

I focused my attention to a forest just below me.

A Demon Beast!

Great! Let's go hunting for a bit!
