1 Chapter 0 - 1st World: Reality

11:18 7/30/19 - Lancaster PA, US

It was a dark night and the Lucas household mostly quiet, Mr. & Mrs. Lucas are sleeping in their rooms downstairs and Lily Lucas, the youngest in the family, only 4 years old, is sleeping soundly in her bed. However, in Ben's room, the lights are on and you can hear 4 young boys whispering.

"Gildroy, lifts his bloody sword in the air and lifts the bugbear chiefs head up high for the rest of the party to see," says a tall boy with blond hair and glasses who looks to be around 11 years old.

We were playing D&D 5e, which I just got the handbooks for earlier today from my mom who introduced me to role-playing games in the first place. Since it came out I have been trying to save up money for it but was surprised when she gave it to me for my birthday today. When I got them I quickly made up a campaign and we started up a session with the players home town being invaded by different goblins and a bugbear chief. They fought them off and then followed them back to their village where they just eliminated them.

"I check the chiefs clothing for loot and attempt to hide the magical dagger in my pouch" a younger boy states with a mischievous look in his blue eyes.

"you found a pouch of 15 gold on him, roll sleight of hand, is anyone even looking at him anyway?" I state as a die rolls in the background.

"I don't think so," another boy says "I am currently casting lay on hands, I am low on health"

"I rolled 17 is that high enough?"

"am I able to be looking?" the blond-haired kid says.

I sigh at him "No Mike, you are too busy lifting a head, yes 17 is high enough, nobody else is looking anyways"

"Yes," the younger boy shouts out and fistbumps the air.

"Leo, what are the chances that we are ever going to see that dagger again?" The other kid states

"Highly unlikely, probably going to go towards my funds to the mega fortress of doom, although I might decide to use it if it is good enough, from the looks of it it seems to just be a plus something dagger sense when it stabbed your character we didn't see anything fancy happen"

"It could be because I am a true polymorphed chair."

"Glenn, seriously, enough about being a freaking chair already, we heard you talk about it like 50 times in the past hour, just wait until we find an anti-magic field to throw you in"

Glenn glares back at Leo"This chair has been sat on for hours on end, unable to do anything, do you know how that feels"

"I have a little sister, I deal with that daily" Leo states dryly

"Oh, huh, your right"

"Yup"

"Still it's a magical chair" Glenn states, passion reigniting instantly

"Can we just calm down for a moment" I state tiredly "It's 11:00, unless you plan to miss Endgame tomorrow morning we have to end the game for now, anyway, it's a good spot to wrap up"

"fine" "OK" "got it"

I got in my bed as the three of them got in the sleeping bags they brought. We all quickly fell asleep tired from the exhausting day. As I fell asleep my mind became much clearer rather quickly and I woke up, finding myself and my bed in a whiteness that expanded indefinitely. As I got up I saw a few words appear in the sky above me slowly changing.

{INSTALLING SYSTEM DATABASE 50%}

{INSTALLING USER INTERFACE 80%}

{INSTALLING WORLD DATA 30%}

{PLEASE WAIT PATIENTLY}

I had no idea what the words in the sky meant but I probably had to wait for the numbers to reach 100% for something to happen. However, for some reason, I didn't really feel fear or any other emotions, to be honest. In order to not bore myself, I tried wandering around but when I went off in one direction I saw the bed in front of me again as soon as I got far enough away from it to no longer see it behind me. As I entertained myself for what felt like hours the numbers slowly raised until they hit 100%. Once they all hit 100% the words in the sky disappeared and a text box popped up in front of me.

{you have been chosen by the heavenly laws to be one of the 3 system users of this multiverse. Due to your personality and interests, your system has been decided to be the World Essense system. Every time you die the system will send you to a world which the heavenly laws have decided need to change and you shall be rewarded for your efforts, however, your reincarnations are decided upon by the heavenly laws and all benefits can be taken from you if you ever go against the heavenly laws. Touch the screen to get an analysis of your world and your first mission.}

After reading through the message I touched it and it disappeared with two others taking its place.

{The world is split into hundreds of different countries but a few countries and unions reign supreme over all the rest, the USA, China, Russia, and the EU are the four biggest groups with each one having goals that partially overlap and conflict with each other}

Seems pretty accurate to be honest, although they probably don't have the United Nations probably because it is more like an alliance than a union.

{Your mission is to become a qualified worker in a government facility or organization of any one of the four major powers. You have until you become 30 to complete this mission.

Rewards: 10% World Essense & a bonus of 1,000 World Energy per every year earlier you completed this mission

Punishment: As this is your first mission there is no risk of punishment for failure}

That doesn't seem to be too difficult because there are tons of government jobs but there is a bonus for going faster I should probably try to get one as soon as possible I touch both of the screens to dismiss them and another one pops up.

{After reading this you will be sent back to your world, the system can be accessed by closing your eyes for 10 seconds, from there you can access the other parts of it just by thinking about it, there is no section to complain about the system & all World Essense will be discarded when you reincarnate so make sure to spend it all before you die, but world energy will be saved through multiple reincarnations.}

After reading it I touched the screen and my vision turned black, I opened my eyes to see sunlight coming in from the windows and hitting my eyes making me look away, the others have not woken up yet though. I tried to close my eyes to confirm it was not a dream and after 10 seconds a few words appeared in my sight.

{World Essense System}

{Status}

{Shop}

{System Upgrades}

{Questions}

I opened my eyes and smiled to myself, this is going to be a lot of fun.
