9 Love Angst

CHAPTER 9

"Mummy, Christian is back!" screamed Kevin, Christian's younger brother and the last born of the house.

Christian had worked tirelessly today at work, he had decided to do overtime, cause he wanted to get more cash to take Sara to a very nice place.

His budget at hand would only treat them to a cheap dinner at a local restaurant, and he wanted more than that for her.

Thinking of her brought happiness and peace to his soul and made him forget about all the stress, he had gone through at the construction site today.

"Welcome home, son." His mother greeted while collecting his bag. It never stopped to amaze him how doting his mother was, always trying to take care of him as if he was her husband, anytime he came back from work, she would collect his things, serve him food and made sure he took his bath quickly.

He prayed God would keep her alive, so he could wipe away her tears, he never wanted to see her struggle, he could imagine her all old and bubbly, still radiant as ever carrying her grandchildren, kids Sara would give birth to, God he couldn't get thoughts of Sara our of his head, he could already

see their future together.

Smiling to himself, Christian answered his mum, and made to sit on the sofa "Thanks mother, how was today, did you make any great sale."

"Yes I did, son, and how was your day too?"

"Lovely but stressful." Christian sighed and relaxed more comfortably on the sofa.

His immediate younger sister, came into the living room, smiling profusely.

Mum, brother, I have exciting news to share with you guys."

Bianca, his 16 year old sister was a sassy, beautiful young girl, currently in her last year in high school.

"Yes, mademoiselle, what's the news." Mrs Smith asked.

"Mummy, remember the time i told you my school was organizing a quiz competition, and I was selected to be a part."

"Yes, my dear, and what happened, have you guys finally done it?, Did you win." her mother asked her.

"Oh mom, you won't believe what happened. To cut the long story short, I won, no my team won, and we were given free scholarship for the rest of our high school year, with a cash price of 500 dollars." She said laughing excitedly.

"Wow, that's good news sister, I am so proud of you." Christian said with admiration and pride in his eyes, he was excited for her and also for himself, he wouldn't pay her school and exam fees this year any longer.

What a great relief, he thought.

"Oh my darling, we are so proud of you, this calls for celebration, oh dear, Christian order some frozen chicken will you?" his mother said.

"Oh yes, mum I will." he replied smiling.

********

Her phone was ringing, it was ringing loudly, squinting in the darkness to find the small device, she was relieved when she finally found it under her pillow.

As she tried to quickly answer the call, the phone went off.

A surprise birthday gift from Ariel to her, the little walkie talkie was already getting spoilt, she had been managing it since it fell inside a pond, and the screen had gotten cracked and spoilt ever since.

Not having an idea, as to who was calling her late that night by 11:30 pm when she was already asleep, she tried powering the phone and luckily for her it came on.

Immediately the phone had been powered on, Sara decided to go outside to answer the call, she quietly and quickly came down from her bunk, wore her fuzzy slippers and took the device with her outside the shelter's balcony.

Walking silently so as not to disturb the other kids sleeping, she tiptoed gently until she got there successfully.

She gazed at the beautiful moonlight and stars adorning the night sky, waiting for her phone to ring once more.

Her phone rang quietly, and this time she cleared her throat, straightened her composure, and answered the mysterious night caller.
