Transformations

Frayna was now standing in front of a mirror, her chest now bound with the sash. It actually hurt but also made herself look flat, as was needed. She walks to her brothers closet and reopens it, gently fingering the fabric that became exposed to her. She takes a hanger off of the rack and lays the clothes out on the bed. She looks over them before pulling on the the white shirt before staring at the tie. She had no clue how to put that on. She instead moved to pull on the pair of pants that were paired with the suit top. She finished getting them buttoned and examined herself in the mirror. "How do these fit me?" She shakes the thought from her head.

Just as she picked up the tie again, the bedroom door burst open. She shrieks and takes a few steps back as a somewhat familiar man stands in the doorway. moments later, her father is behind him, panting. "Sir, I told you, he is-" he stops short as he sees his daughter and curses under his breath. "Fine, I suppose you must be told now. Frances is missing so Frayna is going to pose as him until he is found. And now, since you know, you will help her." The younger male looked and the older in disbelief.

"No one could believe she is him! Its utterly ridiculous! Scandalous!" The fire spirits temper flares at the elder water spirits words. He watched the female before him cower in fear and felt a dominance over here. That shook him from the feeling with shock just before the girl straightened her back and started to speak before her father could.

"I may be a woman, but women do more than men can. We are even more tough than you are. Can you carry a child in you? Can you birth said child? Can you-" She cuts herself off and reigns in her temper. "Anyway, I need one of you to help me with my tie. I have no clue how to put it on."

No one moved. It was as if she had just asked for the to murder someone for her. She looked at them both expectantly before shaking her head. All of a sudden the fire spirit stumbled forward, only to turn and glare at the older water spirit. "If you are to pull this off then you must work together, boy." With those few words, Ishak left the room with a small smile on his face. His daughter was fighting back. It wasn't perfect, since he preferred it was to him first, but it was a start.

Back in the room, Frayna watched her brothers friend massage his forehead. "Well, if we are to pull this off, I suppose I must help you." He walked up to her and wrapped the tie around her neck. "I'm Lasaro, in meetings we always say 'mr' so and so. This shows respect."

Frayna nods as he finishes the tie for her. "Thank you Lasaro." She turns back to the bed and put on her waistcoat, the four button odd to do since they were flipped for mens wear. She then picked up the jacket and put it on, fixing the lapel and collar and making sure the pocket flap stayed down. Once she was done with that, she buttoned up the sleeves. "Does this look right?"

Lasaro looked her up and down, not immediately noticing anything. Just as he was about to say she was fine, he noticed white peeking out of the the bottom of the waistcoat. "Did you remember to tuck your shirt?" At the shake of her head, he undone the buttons on the waistcoat and moved to start shoving the shirt in, wanting to hunt down Frances.

Frayna's eyes widened as he moved to start tucking in the extra shirt. "I-I can do that Lasaro." She tried to step back but was roughly jerked to the side as he had already started tucking the shirt. She shrieked as he turned her once more and watched his hands. They were sure of what they were doing. She looked back to Lasaro, who had dropped his hard facade for only a moment.

"If we are to get through this until we find your brother, you need to trust me and I need to do the same." At her nod, he finished tucking in her shirt, his face becoming hard once more, not even Frayna could figure out if what had just happened, actually occurred.

Once he finished and she had slipped on her brothers shoes, Frayna looked at herself in the mirror. She looked almost exactly like her brother. Her hair was more blue and her body more feminine. It was lucky that her brother also leaned more to the skinny side so she could pull it off. She would come up with an excuse for her hair. Thinking of her hair reminds her that she needed to go to her mother next. She turned to find Lasaro holding a leather bound book. "What's that, Lasaro?"

Lasaro looked at her. "This is your brothers journal. I feel there is something in here we might need." He tucked it into his waistcoat, making sure that others couldnt see it.

Frayna nods and takes a deep breath before walking out of her brothers room, copying how he would walk. She did not put her hands in front of her nor did she take small, slow steps. No, she kept her arms hanging loosely to the side and her gait was long strides. Soon, sooner than when she was walking around acting like a woman, she made it to the drawing room. When she entered she saw a single hard backed chair in the middle of the room and her mother standing behind it with gleaming silver scissors in her hand.

"Come my darling, let's do this quick. I dont know how long I will be able to do this without crying." Delia already had tears in her eyes, her daughter looked so much like her son already.

Frayna nods and quickly walks over to the chair, sitting down as soon as she did. Upon pure instinct, her ankles cross. At the disapproving look from Lasaro, she realizes what she had done and moves so that she sat how she always saw father sitting, knees apart and usually with his back bent. But she couldnt do that just yet. A towel was put on her shoulders and she heard a snip, which she winced at. Snip, wince. Snip, little less wince. Another snip, no wince at all. it was being done to help her brother. After about 10 minutes, she was done. Her hair now looked exactly like her brothers, except for the blue. She looked to her mother with a blank expression before looking at the mass of hair on the floor. She squat down and picked up a lock of it before tying it off at both ends and gently putting it in her pocket. Now, she was ready to be debriefed by Lasaro about the company and its trade partners.

1197 words, I think this is the longest chapter I've wrote in a while. Last night, I lost my gumption and will to write and almost had a breakdown. I only got through the breakdown because of my friend who got me to write this story. I will be forever grateful to them, just as I am to all 249 of you. Your reads helped me get my will to write again, back.

Thank you,
