20 Clear sight

"...I don't know how much intel I will be able to get but it needs to be enough even if it's just 10 minutes every hour or two," Marcus explained the whole situation to Adam and others in his room.

"It's not a problem for me. Just say a word and I will begin." Answered the mage.

"But be prepared. It will be every hour or so. You need to be alert the entire time since we need as much information as we can."

"Well, I don't have anything better to do, however, I don't know how quick I will be able to get back my power." Added Adam with a tired voice. "Today it's already pretty late for me. I will need to change my sleeping habit so that I can work with you at night."

"Oh shit. Thanks for the reminder. I also need to do that. It will be hard to focus on my 'mission' if I will be tired the entire time." I heard what he was saying from the room next to us. I was looking out if the guards were doing something. "That will be hard though since there are other things we have to do…" That made me really curious. As Marcus finished talking with them I asked him:

"What are we going to do?"

"Oh, right you are here only four days so you don't know. Normally we are supposed to go to the arena every five days. I think it's a really odd thing that we had to go again in just two days. Maybe they don't have enough places? I don't know, but that would be the only reason for doing it. Besides the days in the arena, we also had to go to the mines or gather food. Everything in the damned handcuffs…"

"It makes sense, but not for us obviously." Matthew joined the conversation out of nowhere.

"I know but it's just so annoying…" Marcus looked down it seemed that he was really irritated.

"They don't want us to rebel mid work." Answered Matthew irritated as if he didn't want to talk about this.

"When will it be guys?"

"I think tomorrow. At least you didn't get injured this time." Said Matthew while trying to make something out of his darkness. "There it is! I made a key! Maybe if I try to make it to match the cell… We could even break out with far more advantage!"

"That's crazy man!" Cheered Marcus with new energy.

"What's the range of your power?"

"Normally my power is short range but since it's a thing so small I think it could go for like 100 meters or so. But the further the more power it uses."

"I think this is our plan B. If the plan with the mirror won't work."

"Okay guys it's pretty late we should go to sleep since tomorrow we have to go to the mines." Estel was pretty weird since we came back from the arena. He felt more… Empty? I think that's the thing. I really am worried.

"Estel are you alright?" I asked after Matthew and Marcus were completely asleep.

"I am. Don't worry about me."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah. Just go to sleep, maybe you will be able to work normally." He said that and just moved to the other side.

"Don't worry about me, my ass." A quick thought like that went through my head but didn't last too long. I really need to go to sleep… The pain is slowly fading but I don't know how it will look like tomorrow.

I woke up and looked around myself. I was surrounded by… Nothing? I think. It's completely dark here. Nothing… Why am I having dreams like this? As I stood up the bed behind me also disappeared. I started walking in this darkness. The only thing I saw was a really distant dot that lit up everything. Well, it wasn't actually lit, but that was the only source of light and because of that I saw at least my hands and not much more.

The light was never getting closer… Walking is pointless if I can never reach that place…

Then why live? If my goal… Changing the world… I can't achieve it without power. This is always coming back to me even when I try to forget. I'm powerless… I don't have anything to return to… I just found my brother who may not even be my brother, but he already gave me more love than my family for all years of my life… Everything is so confusing

I will just walk and think about what it looked like… When it all started… The day I was born. Those kinds of things are not possible to remember. The Only thing you still know of that period is that you had a mother. She had to take care of you, maybe she wasn't trying to do something specific or anything but she had to be there… All the years prior to when I gained my 'consciousness' at the age of six or seven. That's the only thing I know about. That they 'were' there.

Then it was the time where I was actually raised by the handmaidens in the other house of Moonshine. I wasn't in the main one even when I was a true son of the general. I was despised and laughed at… My brothers always tried to do something weird to me. Humiliated me...

I never had a day when I wasn't bullied. Never. I wish my life could've gone the other way… I wish I had a loving family. The handmaiden was already a loving one, but… It's not the same… They are paid to do this. Even if they say that they do it for any other reason. It's a lie! All of them are the same. Corrupted. Even the handmaiden in the other house.

And now I know what I really have to do. My first goal… If I will ever be able to do anything… Is to corrupt the city of Laylia so much that it will break. It will announce war against every other city. And get destroyed. That blank city. White bricks are dull. Like the royal people. Then… I will change everything. I will erase all that was before. Royals. Poor. And remake the world on my own.

I will never reach that light like this… I will need to do something but first I need to escape this fucking hole.

I woke up and felt relaxed. I was the first one to wake up. No one woke up before me not even Marcus. I looked through the metal bars in our cell. At the blank things all around us. The nothingness of everyday life.

Wake up. Morning routine. Eat. Work. Sleep and repeat. These kinds of days are the longest and most boring. But the thing is... It will be like that for a long time... When they woke up they stretched. I also joined them.

"Did you sleep well, guys?" Asked Marcus with a voice sounding as if he really cared.

"Well, I did. Since my invention was so good I slept well." Answered Matthew with an enthusiastic voice. Even for a dwarf it sounded more enthusiastic.

"I also slept well. There were many things I had to think about yesterday but now it's good." Then it was my turn to answer and as they looked at me they questioned me:

"Hayden what happened to your eyes? Are you okay?" Estel was worried. I heard it in his voice. "You have complete bloodshot eyes. Completely red. What happened during the night?" Then Matthew created a small mirror and gave it to me. When I looked at my face… I saw a dirty face with blue eyes but all the surrounding white was red. It looked as if I was changing into a demon or something like that.

"No, I don't think so…"

"You don't have to keep it to yourself." Said Marcus.

"Maybe he jerked off so hard his eyes went red haha…" Matthew tried to change the atmosphere in the room but no one was laughing. Well, a typical dwarven joke…

The breakfast came exactly after he said that.

"Ladies, eat up, today you will work hard for our cause haha. You small little slaves can't do anything haha." It's the same guy from yesterday. He really hates us all…

"We will come to that later. We don't have much time." Announced Estel while sitting on his bed to eat.

"Dude I'm starving! I haven't eaten anything since yesterday's morning!" Added Marcus.

"Ugh… Smells like shit, but still, need to eat it. Better than nothing ain't that right?" The dwarf tried to make a joke I think but stopped mid sentence and just said the second line. I think his native genes are slowly waking up inside him.

"..." I didn't say a word. I just sat down and started eating. The pain from before weirdly disappeared. It's just that I need to do everything to escape this place… This is my chance.
