Josh looked down then back at Odin. "who's they?"

Odin looked away embarrassed "I said that out loud?"

Josh gave him a 'are you kidding me' look.

"Yeah kid you did. so stay on topic."

Odin took a deep breath then said. "Well I can...um...read minds."

Josh stared at him for a moment. Then he busted into laughter.

"Ahahaha I almost fell for that one haha."

Odin didn't really care if they believed him or not. "Can I leave now?"

Josh tried to keep from laughing more. "wait..ha.. I wanna see this in action tell me what Jason is thinking."

Jason looked at Josh. "Why me!?"

Josh shrugged. "I don't know. besides it doesn't matter because he's lying."

Odin shrugged. "Whatever I'll just do it."

Odin stared at Jason for a moment. Odin could feel Jason's thoughts jumbled around in his head. It was to much to handle. Then he flinched and looked away from Jason.

"JEEZ!! you are such an over thinker!"

Josh stared at Odin still not believing him. "So what did you see?"

Odin thought for a moment. "It was hard to understand ,but he was thinking about some girl named Elle ,and he felt bad for something I couldn't make out what it was. He also is worried about his mom ,and he needs to pee."

Jason's face turned red. "uh..you know you could have left out the last part."

Odin laughed. "Sorry man ,but your thinking to much that's all I could understand."

Josh wasn't smiling any more. "Wait...your not lying?"

Odin looked at Josh. "No I'm not. so can I leave now?"

Josh paused for a moment. "Wait so your like a human lie detector?"

Odin shrugged. "I guess ,but only if they are thinking about lying."

Jason looked at Josh. "What are you getting at Josh?"

"This kid can help us make Dave confess to crashing the plane."

Odin didn't seem to happy about that plan. "Dude I did what you wanted and I'm done reading minds for today."

Josh shook his head. "You know if you do that I could give you a reward."

Odin looked over at Jason. Jason avoided eye contact with Odin. He could tell Jason didn't want to do any of this. Jason just wanted to let Odin go ,but Odin knew that even if Jason said something Josh wouldn't change his mind. All Odin could do was get it over with.

Odin sighed. "Fine but on one condition."

Josh smiled. "o-ok what condition?"

Odin pointed at Jason. "listen to him every once in a while. It's really stupid to keep a kid hostage."

Josh nodded. "ah...ok so follow me."

Odin started walking after Josh. "Did you just ignore what I just said?"

Josh shook his head. "No ,but you don't know what's been going on lately."

Odin looked at Josh for a second. "What!?! A demon thingy is trying to take over his body!?"

Josh sighed. "I forgot you could read my mind ,but it's not exactly a demon. It's more like voices convincing him to do things."

Josh spoke a little quieter so Jason couldn't hear. "It's already happened once."

Odin looked at Jason walking behind them. "Is that why you don't trust him yet."

Josh looked at Odin. "Kid can you stop reading my mind."

Odin shrugged. "Sorry it just happens sometimes. Also why would you tell him the so called voices are gone if your not sure if they are?"

Josh Sighed. "I don't know. I just didn't want him to worry about it to much."

They walked back to the tree Dave was at. Elle and Hazel had left him alone ,but who could blame them Dave was a bad person.

Dave saw them coming. "Finally get the kid to listen to you?"

No one answered him.

Dave smiled. "Not in the mood to chitchat?"

Josh spoke up. "You know you are going to prison for the murder of all these passengers. And by the way gasing pilots so they crash a plane makes you a terrorist."

Josh grabbed Odin's arm and dragged him closer to Dave.

Odin didn't like Josh. "Hey!?"

"Ok kid it's your turn. See if he did it."

Odin looked at Dave. when Odin read his mind he stepped back ,and Odin's skin turned a pale ,and he began to tremble.

Josh saw that Odin was terrified. "Hey kid, you ok?"

Odin looked away from Dave. "I... he's..um- he's innocent."

Josh could tell there was something wrong "Are you sure?"

Odin's voice became shaky ,and he pulled him self away from Josh. "Yeah...I should get going. See you later."

Once Odin had left Josh looked back at Dave. "what did you do?"

Dave laughed. "The kid knows."

Josh looked at Jason. "Hey Jason could you see if that kids ok?"

Jason nodded. He ran the way Odin had left. Jason looked around ,but he couldn't find him. After a couple minutes of looking for Odin Jason noticed someone was sitting behind a tree. He walked around it ,and saw Odin. He was still shaken up ,but he seemed to be trying to calm down.

Jason stepped closer. "Hey, You ok?"

Odin looked up at Jason. He had tears in his eyes.

Jason panicked. He wasn't great with helping people with there feelings.

"Oh god your crying!"

Odin looked down hiding his face. "What!? No I wasn't!"

Jason sighed ,and sat down next to Odin. "Ok... tell me what happened."

Odin voice was still shaky. "T-that man. Who i-is that?"

Jason clenched his hand into a fist. "His name's Dave. He threatened someone I love ,and I'm assuming he did something that your not telling me. Right?"

Odin nodded. "You know why I didn't want to tell you who I was...it was because a lot of people would kill to get there hands on someone like me."

Jason didn't respond.

Odin continued. "I was young when something like that happened. I was around 7 years old. My mom always told me not to tell anyone what I could do. I didn't understand why she didn't want me too. ha I thought she was disappointed in my power ,but the truth is she was trying to protect me. I wish I had listen to her ,but I j-just had to brag about it to the other kids. I was so stupid then. Anyway as I was bragging some man over heard us talking. He didn't believe me at first ,but he continued to listen to us talk. I saw him around my house a couple times after that. I should have known he had been watching me ,but I just ignored it. One day I was walking home from school ,and a black van pulled up next to me. A man in the front the seat rolled down the window. He called me over. I shouldn't have ,but I stepped to the car. He held out a dollar bill ,and told me to take it. When I reached out to take it he grabbed my hand ,and pulled me in the van. I screamed ,and kicked ,but no one could hear me. They put me in the back of the van with a man in the back with me. That man tied my hands ,and feet. After what felt like hours the van stopped. They opened the back of the van ,and pulled me out. I tried screaming again ,but they told me if I screamed one more time they would kill me. I got a glimpse of the building they took me into. It looked like a science lab. When they got me in the building they put me in a empty room. I sat there all night crying myself to sleep. In the morning a lady came into the room ,and asked me questions about mind reading ,but I didn't answer her. Then two men came in ,and pulled me out of the room. They carried me to another room. This time it had a bed ,and tools. They sat me down in the bed ,and untied me ,but they strapped me into it. They-...."

Odin started to tremble more and breathe hard.

Jason noticed. "Hey try to stay calm ok?"

Odin nodded and started to slow his breathing "Ye-yeah ok...T-they started to experiment on me ,and most of the experiments were painful. I would scream telling them to stop ,but they ignored me ,and continued. After that day that's all they did. Ask me questions ,and send me back...to...that room. Eventually I got smarter ,and looked around for ways to escape. By the age of 11 I had a whole plan to get away. I tried to run away that day ,but I wasn't smart enough to get away. After that I tried getting away several times. They started to get angry with me. They told me they would kill everyone I loved if I didn't listen. I didn't believe them. The only people I loved was my mom ,and I didn't think they knew where she lived..... But I was wrong. I continued to act out ,so one day they pulled me into a different room. My mom was in the room tied to a chair with tears streaming down her face. They made me watch as they tortured her. Then they put a gun to her head ,a-and..."

Odin bursted into tears. He was shaking again ,and he was trying it cover his face so Jason wouldn't see.

Jason put his hand on Odin's shoulder. "Hey...it's ok she's in a better place now."

Odin didn't say anything for a couple minutes.

When Odin stopped crying he looked at Jason. "I'm going to kill him."

Jason stared at him. "Wh- what!? who? why!?"

Odin looked down at the dirt. "That man you asked me to read. He was the one to pull the trigger ,and kill her. He showed me in his mind. He enjoyed every second of it!! I hate him!!"

Jason moved his hand off Odin's shoulder. "look I understand why you want to kill him. Trust me I do to ,but you can't just kill him. Just think about this. Trust me you don't want to do this. It will only feel worse after you do it."

Odin looked back up at Jason. "How do you know what it's lik-"

Odin stopped ,and stared at Jason for a moment. "Have you killed someone?!"

Jason looked shocked. "WHAT!?! No I would never do that!!"

Odin sat in silence for a moment. " ...so how come your such an expert about what's going to happen to me if I kill him?"

Jason hesitated to answer. "I- ...i knew someone who did. He regrets it every day of his life. He told me that he got no victory out of it. All he got was 20 years in prison."

Odin sighed. "Yeah I guess your right. I would probably regret it... Also I've been meaning to ask how do you know him?"

Jason shrugged. "Honestly I don't. The first time I saw him was on the plane."

Odin smiled. "Can't I at least punch him in the face?"

Jason laughed. "No! no way! I wouldn't do th-...ok so maybe I would because I did, but you sh-"

Odin seemed intrigued. "Wait!! You punched him?! What for??"

Jason was glad that Odin was not upset any more. "Well I was on the plane ,and Josh the guy you saw back there. He told me a story about him. It ticked me off so I went over to Dave ,and punched him."

Odin laughed. "You should have punched him again!"

Jason was about to say something ,but a voice behind them cut him off.

"Jason where are you!?"

Jason knew that voice. It was Elle.

Jason stood up ,and looked behind the tree. "Hey I'm over here."

Elle spotted him ,and headed over. She had Hazel walking behind her.

"Jason why are you over here-"

Elle noticed Odin sitting on the ground. She looked at his eyes. They were red from crying. "Oh hi...um"

Odin stood up ,and put his hand out. "Odin."

Elle smiled. "Right. Also my name is Elle."

Odin looked down at Hazel hiding behind Elle. He stared at her in shock. "H-hazel?"

Hazel stepped in front of Elle ,and ran to Odin.

"Punkin!"

Hazel grabbed onto Odin's leg.

Jason stared at them. "You know each other?"

Odin picked up Hazel. "Yeah...She's one of the-...test subjects."

Jason shook his head. "But She was on the plane with her mom."

Odin laughed. "Mom? Yeah sure... She doesn't have parent's either. It was probably one of the people at that lab."

Jason thought for a moment. Then he remembered that Hazel was acting really strange when the lady died. She almost acted happy. Now it all made sense.

Jason was mad at himself. "I should have known something was up when Hazel was acting strange."

Odin smiled. "Well it doesn't matter that plane crash was the way out of that place."

Jason was confused. "Wait you escaped today!?"

Odin nodded. "Also I wasn't lying when I said that man didn't crash the plane. It was someone else on the plane."

Jason wondered why Odin kept saying 'that man' instead of dave's name. "Do you know who it is?"

Odin shook his head. "No ,but it had to be someone smart to pull that off."

Elle stared at them. "So...i have a feeling that I always don't know what's going on ,but what's going on!?"

Jason turned to Elle. "Odin and Hazel were taken somewhere ,and experimented on because Odin can rea-"

Odin interrupted him. "JASON!!"

Jason flinched. "Ah! Why are you yelling!?!"

Odin laughed nervously. "Sorry Elle I need to talk to Jason at the moment."

Elle nodded. "Oh...um...ok."

Odin pulled Jason aside. "Are you crazy!?"

Jason shook his head. "What are you talking about?"

Odin put Hazel on the ground. "Dude what if she heard you!?"

"Still don't see what the problem is."

Odin gave him an annoyed look. "ughh!! She can't know I can read minds."

Jason still didn't understand. "Why not?"

Odin looked at him seriously. "Jason I'm not going to lie to you. Your the only person I trust here. So don't tell Josh about my past either."

Jason was suprised. "Y-you trust me? Why?"

Odin looked at Hazel which had wrapped her tiny arms around his leg. "Because your the only person that actually makes any sense around here. I noticed when Josh was talking to me. You wanted to let me go. your insane friends is creepy ,and when he looks at me I feel like he's gonna murder me with his eyes."

Jason laughed. "He gave you that impression to scare information out of you. He isn't that bad."

"Oh really? Forcing a kid to talk isn't bad?"

Jason rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah I guess you have a point ,but he is just stressed out about the accident. He is actually kinda nice."

Odin changed the subject. "So your going to keep this a secret for me?"

Jason sighed. "Yeah I guess. It's the best I could do after...you know not stopping Josh."

Odin shook his head. "Nah it's fine. let's just get back to the group."

Odin picked up Hazel.

Hazel giggled and wrapped her arms around Odin's neck. "Punkin."

Jason looked at Hazel. "Why does she call you Punkin?"

Odin looked at Hazel. "Oh Hazel? She thinks I looks like a pumpkin so she calls me that."

Jason looked at Odin.

Odin's hair was a strange bright orange. "Now that I think about it you really do look like a pumpkin."

Odin laughed. "Yeah I guess."
