67 Chapter - 67 - House to Home

Yi Minghuan's spirits were lifted by Tang Li's radiant smile, and he too decided to make the most of their new beginning.

He picked up a bag of corn and the half bag of wheat, announcing, "I'll borrow a stone mill to grind these into flour. You go ahead and tidy up the place. When I return, we can have some soup."

Tang Li remembered a resource they had access to, sharing her newfound knowledge.

"Ah! I remembered. Our team has donkeys and stone mills for grinding. You can take the sacks of corn, wheat, and sorghum there for grinding."

Concerned about Yi Minghuan's well-being, Tang Li added, "Don't grind it yourself; you'll exhaust yourself!"

Yi Minghuan nodded, his lips curling into a slight smile. He pushed the cart with a sense of warmth in his heart, taking the bags of grain with him.

As Yi Minghuan departed, Tang Li took a small vest she no longer needed, found some scissors, and cut it into several pieces.

She used these as rags to wipe down the bed, cabinets, table, chairs, and other furniture in the room they would be sleeping in.

"Huh....." With a tired exhale, Tang Li wiped the sweat from her forehead with her arm after completing the task.

Despite her exhaustion and the continued cleaning ahead, she felt re-energized by the thought of this place soon becoming their home. Her eyes sparkled with ideas of how to make it their own, contemplating additions and improvements.

She wanted to turn this house into their home!

She decided that they needed to raise pigs, chickens, and grow vegetables.

Pigs and chickens could provide meat, eggs, and income, and the yard already had pens and coops ready for use. In a corner behind the house, they could plant seasonal vegetables for daily consumption.

Tang Li also thought about enclosing the yard with stones and getting a wooden door made by a local carpenter to enhance security and privacy.

Her main concern was keeping people like Gu Xiulan away. Tang Li was convinced that Gu Xiulan would be tempted to steal their chickens and vegetables once she saw them flourishing.

'With only a fence gate, Gu Xiulan would definitely come to steal chickens and vegetables!'

After a thorough cleaning and organization of the kitchen, Tang Li slumped into a chair, feeling too tired to move. Having skipped breakfast and worked tirelessly, she was both physically drained and hungry, experiencing dizziness.

Tang Li retrieved a cup and poured some of the precious space water. After taking a sip, she immediately felt her strength returning, revitalizing her.

'Okay! I am almost done.'

With the bed boards now dry, she spread out the quilts and sheets, folded the quilts neatly, and placed them at the foot of the bed. The sight of the large 1.6-meter bed brought a smile to Tang Li's face.

She knew that with such a spacious bed, she would have enough room to sleep comfortably, without worrying about bothering Yi Minghuan with her sleeping position.

"Tonight," she thought, "if he presses his legs against me again, we'll definitely have a serious talk. Hmph!"

She then organized their clothes in the cabinet. Their combined wardrobe was modest, so there was little need for extensive tidying.

Tang Li also arranged scattered tea mugs, tooth mugs, and the two sets of bowls and chopsticks brought from their original home, placing them neatly in their proper places.

An hour later, Yi Minghuan returned. Tang Li had already completed the main room and the kitchen, with everything in its rightful place.

Seeing the transformation of the place into a home, Yi Minghuan's heart warmed. He smiled at Tang Li and said, "Thank you for your hard work. I'll get started on cooking now; you can take a rest."

"Why did you come back with just a small bag of flour?" Tang Li inquired.

Yi Minghuan explained, "I was worried you might be hungry, so I ground these first. I'll run to the neighbor's and get an egg. How about I make you egg drop pimple soup?"

Tang Li nodded enthusiastically, her mouth watering at the thought.

'Egg drop pimple soup sounded incredibly appetizing!'...
