Chapter 1: My passion

Night one

The sun was setting. The breeze flowed through the bedroom window and hit against Valentina's soft, warm cheeks. Her soft blonde hair, opened and spreaded around her. She was sleeping beside her 6 month old baby girl. Emma looked all snuggled up in her onesie.

The sound of the apartment door rattled, as a man, dressed in his neat business attire, came in. He hanged his blazer on the coat peg.

"Val!" He peeked through the kitchen door. When he saw nobody there, he went straight for the bedroom.

Valentina slept peacefully until. "Valentina! Wake up! I'm starving! Hurry up and get me something to eat!" He shook her body, and she immediately woke up.

"What?... oh shit.. sorry, I'll quickly warm something up for you..."

"Make it quick!"

Valentina looked over at Emma, making sure she was ok and not too cold. She did the curtains in her room, before proceeding to the kitchen.

Liam, her husband, removed his tie and undid his buttons. He sat at the dinning table, while scrolling through his phone.

"Why were you sleeping?" Liam asked as he looked up from his phone.

"I was feeding Emma. I guess I was so tired that I fell asleep with her." Valentina said in a loud voice from the kitchen, yet she sounded very soft and peaceful.

Liam sighed, then scrolled through his phone. He then seemed abit irritated that he slammed his phone on the table and yelled,

"Damn! Stupid people!... They're a disease,and they're spreading everywhere!"

"Why? Did something happen?.." Valentina opened the microwave door, and gently took the plate out.

"Just the usual... They don't know anything about business..." Valentina placed the steaming, hot pasta infront of him. "We'll never get successful at this rate..." He continued before picking up the fork and eating the pasta.

"Just don't let those people get to you..." Valentina said as she walked towards the balcony door, she opened it and a gush of wind blew through her, entering the warm room.

She stood outside and leaned her arms on the railings. She stared at the bright full moon, her eyes searching for a treasure that she truely desires.

"Damn! Val! Close the doors!" Liam grunts up from the chair and walks to the balcony, which wasn't so far from where he was sitting.

Valentina ignored him, and with sad eyes she stared at the moon. Wishing...

"Valentina..." Liam looked at her face as he stood beside her. "Stop... It's cold."

"It looks beautiful... If only I..." Valentina finally spoke after a short pause.

"It won't work...Every night, you come out here to find some kind of inspiration... But it won't work. Think about your life as a mother..." Liam held her shoulders gently, he turned her around and she rested her head on his chest.

"Come on... Sit down and eat."

Valentina never spoke a word. She only repeated his words in her head. She desired passion, inspiration and magic! That's what made her paintings special. It's been a year since she lost her passion to paint...

So, every night she would stare at the night sky, searching for something. Wishing for something to happen. But now, she's a mother... There's so much responsibility to handle when raising a child. So... She kept all her paintings locked up in one room. When the day comes... where she will find the desire to hold that paintbrush again...she'll open that door.

Valentina looked back at the night sky, before they exited the balcony. She was searching. Once again. She won't stop. Until, her wish comes true.

"Val-" Liam called out but was suddenly shocked by what he had saw.

The sight and sound rattled the whole earth. Giant rocks, covered in fire, fell down to the earth's crust. It was massive in their eyes. When it landed, Liam and Valentina lost their balance. The comet, or whatever it was, sat just a few yards away. The crashing object let off steam, it destroyed so many homes. People ran around, panicked and began screaming. Fire aroused from there and nobody knew what to do.

Valentina looked, in pure shock and confusion, leaned toward the railing. She remembered witnessing a beautiful scenery, light was falling and it landed before her. She described it as... "My passion..."

Suddenly, their baby began screaming due to the sound of the meteorite. "Val! Get out from There!" He dragged her by the arm and rushed to the bedroom. Emma was crying.

"...I know..." Valentina said quietly.

"What?!" Liam shouted but he calmly picked Emma up into his arms, and over his shoulder. When suddenly, Valentina ran to the drawers and ruffled through whatever was in it, and found a key. She clenched it in her palm before unlocking the locked door.

"What are you doing?!"

"This is bad! We need to get out of here!" Valentina panicked.

"What! It's just a meteor crash! Calm down!!" Liam yelled while Emma is screaming on his shoulder.

"It's not!! It's a terrorist attack! They could attack anywhere, anytime!"

"What?! How do you know that?!" Liam stared at her blankly.

"You don't understand..." Valentina revealed a painting, which was covered up in a dusty cloth.

The dust particles blew everywhere. It was a painting, of the exact same image Valentina just saw. She saw a beautiful scenery, a light fell and landed before her. The painting described just that, and at the top corner of the canvas, it wrote... "My passion..."
