Wang Yu
I am a little peeved at the description and story development. I have expectations that Synopsis and Descriptions are not total spoilers but just a taste of the first 50 or so chapters....I am extremely disappointed that I am at chapter 90 something and no damn skull has shown up!!! It's killing me...and to make matters worse when searching the internet of spoilers about this mysterious skull no one ever answers about it!! IF IT AIN'T IN THE BOOK DON'T WRITE IT IN THE DAMN DESCRIPTION! . . Otherwise pretty neat book, its actually not too many cliches his cheat is actually pretty unique like, might not even call it a cheat but a birthright or something. Hopefully he finds his skull friend soon or I'm dropping out of sheer frustration.
Story is good, read the first 130 or so chapters on the other site. My complaint is that novel saga is yet again given a series i enjoy, they are inconsistent with their translation, martial god space for example was like having my eyes poked by a needle, you could tell different translators worked on different chapters because the terms would change every freaking chapter.
As always a great novel by Wang Yu. If you liked Demon’s Diary or A Record of a Mortal’s Journey to Immortality, than you will also enjoy this novel. In comparison with other cultivation novels, this one greatest strength lies in ****** a believable world, that apart from the protagonist, has side characters that have goals, strength and weaknesses and in the end, influence the world around him. Cultivation doesn't require you to "grit your teeth and endure", it requires planning, resources and thinking ahead of others to survive. All in all, it is a much more realistic approach to cultivation novels.
Mediocre at best. I dont't know if its the translator or the author, but up to ch.80 there is just a lot of inconsistency between chapter and even paragraph, for example at some point it said MC got 3million silver, while few chapters ahead says he broke, never mentioned spending on anything expensive. Another example says "surprisingly he discovered that something add power, but so small that he didin't realize it. WTF man, he discovered but not realize? Beside all that, this novel just got nothing special on it. Lots of CN out there use repetitive template, but that still a better offer, cause they got something unique and special. This on the other side, doesn't use much repetition, but it just lack something 'addictive' that makes you want to read it again. The fight description is good, very good, but that's it. You skip it and you still understood it. The development of the story just plain, nothing worth mentioning. Even the MC is plain, got no quirk except his hardworking, MC might as well be an NPC.
An unexpected rough gem. While unspectacular, it is a cut above from other average series as it does not fall back to the usual tropes too much. Yes, some aspects might be familiar but the author took the pains to write in a roundabout manner and in different events that are somewhat unusual when compared to other similar titles. The pacing is not as slow as Mo Tian jI (Demon’s Diary). The plot events differ than the usual, it can be be a ride to see the ups and downs of the main character instead of the usual smooth sailing of other stories where the MC clear every hurdle after a fortuitous encounter. The MC depends mostly on himself and then benefited from his actions that rippled elsewhere in the setting. Hard work and persistence, no real shortcuts. Even his talent, we are told; comes with drawbacks. As for the MC himself, one would say he’s pretty bland. A typical righteous person, calm and decisive when needed. But like what others have noted, his ultimate goal seems to be be stronger for strength sake. There are some mysteries, but the reader aren’t told of any underlying plot driving his motivations. Give this a try, it’s a little different than most other storie
Another sh*tty trash cultivation novel. The MC is the usual braindead mediocre foolish idiot with no exceptional or amazing qualities. But ofcourse he will become the most powerful person in the story because of unbelivable, illogical, ridiculous super thick plotarmour protecting and helping our unworthy braindead b@stard MC. Its like the worlds in these stories allow only super lucky b@stards to become powerful and people with exceptional qualities like super hard working, super clever, super talented e.t.c cant become super powerful without being a lucky b@stard. Its feels as if the b@stard MC will become powerful as soon as he says he wants to become powerful. No other qualifications required. And also all the other charecters, romance e.t.c are 1 dimensional( like in all trash cultivation novels ) . Its like they exist only to fill up the story. they not at all feel real and dont have any depth to them. There are very few good cultivation novels these days and its becoming very hard to find them.
Very good series, a few flaws with the story but one of my favorites to read. "A wonder falling down from heaven! A boy possessed by strange blood! Gods tremble! Demons flee! A boy from the land of Dong Zhou. A pink skull as his sworn friend until death. A story of a determined warrior struggling for power. A legend that shakes the galaxy and disturbs the worlds of god, demon and man."
