4 CHAPTER FOUR

"So, have you decided on whom you're gonna take to the freshers party?", Mimi asked me after we just finished our first lectures for the day. We were walking in the hallways when Mimi asked that question.

I see..she's crazy. If shes not, then I see no reason why she would ask me if I'm going to attend the freshers party with someone or even attend it at all. It's not her fault anyway. She isn't aware of my condition.

I love Mimi..She's my only friend here, but I cant help but see so many similarities between her and my sis. They both get enthusiastic about things and exaggerate a lot. They both are the 'live your life to the fullest' type of girls. I have only been here for about three weeks and shes already asking if I have a date to the party knowing fully well that I don't socialize much.

I only shook in the negative and said, " you know I dont do parties". I told her and she laughed.

"Babe, you know you're in college and not high school dear. Better start looking for whom to go with".

" Cant we go together?"

I had to ask.

"Nada. I already have a date". She said while winking severally.

I laughed. I could never get use to Mimi.

We continued walking in the hallways and decided to go get a little snack to nibble on from the cafeteria. Kyle walked up to us from the other side of the hall and instantly lifted me up like a three year old. I felt more than a dozen eyes on me. He dropped me after some seconds and I stood facing him, and from there I saw the huge height difference between us. I am 5'5 while he is fucking 6'6.

Way to go nature. Thank you for betraying me oh goddess of height.

I turned and looked at Mimi who was busy laughing like crazy. She looked at me and tried to surpress the laughter but she couldn't and she just continued.

I gave the people in the hallways a quick look and found out that they were all minding their business.

I love this school.

I looked at the tall and slender iroko tree before me and rememembered the day we met at the cafeteria.

" Alyssa Hart!". I swear I could recognize that voice anywhere.

I looked and saw my long time best friend.

"Kyle!". I said and jumped on him, knocking my chair down in the process. We hugged like forever.

Mimi walked in just then and had a smirk on her face.

No babe...its not what you are thinking.

" what are you doing here Kyle?". I had to ask, still surprised.

"Whatcha mean?", he said chuckling. " I school here. Accounting and Finance. Its been a while".

"A while? Its been years you dummy". I said and playfully slapped his chest.

I turned and saw Mimi who was now sitting on one if the chairs with the smirk still on her face. Jayden on the other hand looked like an angry bull.

Whats his problem?

"Okay. So here's Miriam, my best friend and room mate". I said to Kyle, " And babe heres Kyle, my best friend in high school back then."

"Nice meeting you Kyleee", Mimi said in a sing song tune and shaked his hand.

" The pleasure is mine", He said.

Jayden cleared his throat and gave a smirk. "Oh", I said, " this is Jayden, Mimi's elder brother ". Jayden eyed him from head to toe still smirking.

" Wassup man", Kyle said to Jayden who shrugged in return.

We all sat and began chit chatting. And by 'we' I meant Kyle, Mimi and I. Jayden just sat glued to his phone while eating my lunch and pretended like we didn't exist.

And since that day, Kyle and I have been hanging out quite all right.

As we headed out of the hallways, we walked towards the parking lot. Mimi and Kyle were talking about something I really didn't pay attention to. Suddenly, Kyle started tickling my sides for a few seconds and I couldnt help but laugh and hit his chest.

A voice yelled at us from one side of the parking lot. We turned and saw Cole and Jayden. Apparently they had been discussing something which made Jayden kind of happy. I looked at him as our eyes met and accessed him. A black trouser and a white V-neck t-shirt which clearly showed his toned muscles. Not bad. I searched his face and still found his eyes on me as we walked towards them. On reaching there, he turned to Mimi and said, "hey sis", and gave me a nod. He pretended as if Kyle didnt exist.

" Where y'all heading?", Cole asked us and Mimi told him we were heading to Drays Restaurant.

"Oh crap, you mean that new restaurant that just opened down town? I've wanted to go there. I heard the food there is amazing". He said.

" yeah, it is." Mimi said and chuckled at Cole's widening eyes.

"Could we go with you guys?", he asked giving us puppy dog eyes.

" We?!", I blurted out. And Kyle who obviously didn't see the hesitation in me agreed within seconds smiling.

"Sure. The more the merrier". He said.

I looked at Jayden who was still smirking.

" okay. So let's take my car. Ali you ride with me and Mimi". Kyle said.

We walked towards his car and entered with me sitting at the passenger seat and Mimi at the back.

As Kyle started the engine to his black Camry, I looked upwards and see Cole who got into Jayden's car and they drove off with us trailing behind.

Twenty minutes later, we arrived at the restaurant. Drays Restaurant looked better than it was on TV commercials. We took a table close to the exit door and sat. A waitress came along to get our order and I saw Kyle smirk. I couldnt guess why and I only shook my head.

Everyone placed their orders and I was the last to order. The waitress voice snapped me to reality.

"Alyssa what do you care for?"

I wondered and thought. How does she know my name??

I looked at the waitress once again and looked and looked, carefully studying her features. One sided dimple. Wait a minute. I stood up and sqinted my eyes.

"Kyla!!!", I couldnt help the scream.

" yes Ali...in flesh and blood", she said smiling. "It took you long enough to recognise me".

I laughed as I got up and hugged her.

Kyla is Kyle's twin and elder sister.

No wonder, Kyle was smirking all the way.

" I got a part time job as a waitress here. You know me, cant stay idle."

She explained and I couldnt help but look at how she has changed a lot in the couple of years.

Kyla..the Kyla I knew had these huge and thick bottle-like glasses. And braces. But the one standing in front of me looks so damn georgeous.

Kyla explained to her boss that she needed to take the rest of the day off and he quickly agreed. She joined us at our table and we chatted loudly. I learnt that she was in the uni but not GREGS. Almas Standard College. But they were on break now.

I introduced the rest of the gang to her and they all made her feel loved. I couldnt help but notice the occassional stares she and Cole gave each other and i felt the chemistry too.

I reminded Mimi that we had a class later on but she waved it off and said we should all take the remaining of the day off. And then she had this crazy idea of us going to the beach. Its crazy because we were in the middle of the raining season and we could likely catch a cold. Classic Mimi. The rest of the gang didnt find it silly or crazy. Instead Cole said it would be a great way to bond and bla bla rubbish. I couldnt help but roll my eyes. I was shocked when Jayden smiled and agreed. Infact he volunteered to drop Mimi and I at our dorms in order to grab our swim trunks and to have a change of clothes.

We went with him and Mimi told him to pick us in the next 30 minutes.

He came and we decided to wait for the rest of the gang.

Shortly afterwards, Kyle pulled up with Kyla and Cole came as well.

"Okay, so who's riding with who?" I asked.

"Kyla rides with Cole, Mimi is with Kyle and you're with me". Jayden said with an air of authority.

No one objected even though I lowkey prayed for Mimi to object since she said I shouldn't get too close to her bro and all. We all got in our various rides and the three cars zoomed off.

I looked at my wristwatch and the time said few minutes past three. I felt Jayden's eyes on me and I bet he could tell I looked uneasy. I was having constipation. It's something that has been persistent in my life alongside regular fevers, so I paid no attention to it.

" You good?", he asked and I nodded taking a deep breath.

"You look good by the way", he added and I blushed.

I was wearing a red summer flowery A-shaped gown which reached my knees and a strap up sandals.

" thanks, you too". I replied.

"I know. I always do", the arrogant jerk behind the wheels said and I couldn't help but roll my eyes.

I bit my lower lips and looked down at my gown, fiddling with the hem of it.

"Fuck!", Jayden cussed and looked at me and then back to the road.

"What happened?", I asked sounding concerned. He only shook his head and ignored me throughout the drive to the beach.

Grumpy old fool. Why did I consent to riding with him?
