5 CHAPTER FIVE

We arrived at the beach some minutes to four. I got down from Jayden's car and I scanned the area for the rest of the gang. I spotted Mimi and she waved at me. I walked up to her whilst Jayden locked the car. We met the rest and we went to change to our swim trunks. We took a spot on the shore and laid our blankets close to the waters.

Kyla, Cole and Mimi went into the waters to play and swim and the rest of us watched them from were we lay. Kyle was the first to break the silence.

"So, Alyssa...do you know Mr Lucas was involved in a plane crash some weeks ago?"

I was dumbfounded.

"A plane crash? Wow..that's sad. Did he survive it?"

"Yeah..but he was badly injured. He won't be able to use his legs again though". He said almost out of breath.

Mr Lucas was my history tutor back then in high school. He wasn't at all friendly to us...always hostile.

" Well, he deserved it". I said while Jayden gave me a glance and smirked.

Kyle could only laugh. I still remember back then in the ninth grade, Mr Lucas told on me to the principal for a crime I didnt commit. It still pains me till today cause I was almost suspended.

At the thought of the principal, I suddenly smiled.

"Do you know Miss Mary is now married?", I asked Kyle.

His eyes shone and he smiled.

" For reals?'

"Yeah..she married the principal", I dropped the bomb.

" What tha fuck? You kidding right?".

I could understand Kyle's amazement. Our principal should be in his late sixties and Miss Mary in the other hand was in her early twenties.

I could only laugh.

"Love is blind". I said and Jayden scoffed.

What's his problem

" Allen got arrested for doing drugs while Mackenzie died of an abortion". I further told Kyle.

Allen and Mackenzie are the principal's children and they are a tough nut to crack. They were in my grade though Allen was a year older than Mackenzie.

"Oh well. I wasn't surprised. Good riddance to bad rubbish", I further added and before Kyle could ship in, Cole came to ask Kyle to play water polo with them. He excused us and left.

Seconds later, Jayden asked me to help apply Sunscreen to his back and I vehemently refused. He only smiled and nodded his head.

A strong wind blew and sand from the shore got in my eyes. I called Jayden to help but he only laughed. I tried calling the others but they were too far off in the water to hear me.

Jayden winced and held my wrist, aiding me up. He led me to a bathroom close to the bar and lowered me to the sink to wash the dirt off my eyes.

" Are you okay?", he asked me looking concerned.

I nodded and raised my head. The sand was off my eyes.

Jayden took out a face towel from only God knows where and and wiped my face.

I mumbled a 'thanks'.

I looked directly at him and I saw the worry lines on his forehead fade slowly. The bathroom was too tight to accommodate two persons and I realised how close we both were to each other. I looked at his face and studied his features. I could feel my heart racing at a strange speed as his fingers removed a strand of hair from my face. What is wrong with me?

I opened the door and went out to catch my breathe. And one the way out I missed my steps and my leg kicked a stone.

How nice.

I shouted. Jayden rushed towards me and helped me up.

We walked back to the shore and he put his hand on my waist in order to help me walk since I was limping.

On reaching the shore, we met a worried Mimi pacing left and right.

It was obvious she had been searching for us.

"Where were you both?". She asked with her hands on her waist.

Jayden spoke up.

" We went for a quickie" he said smirking with his hand still on my waist.

My cheeks flushed instantly and I hit him on his chest and released myself from his hand.

"I had something in my eyes and he helped me to the bathroom".

I said.

Kyla came and asked us all to come join in their game. We all nodded and she left.

" Can you walk on your own? ", Jayden whispered to me and I nodded. He seemed satisfied and left.

Mimi raised a brow at me. I know what she was thinking.

" So..you and Jayden, huh?"

She asked me as her hands crossed her chest.

"What do you mean?", I had to ask her.

She let her hands down and exhaled loudly.

" I'm just looking out for you babe", she said placing a hand on my shoulder.

" There's nothing Mimi. I swear. And I understand your point. I won't get close to him." I told her.

"Sure. Sorry. I just let different thoughts into my head for a second." She said and shrugged.

I smiled and nodded as we walked to the water. The pain on my leg had reduced and I got in the water.

Immediately, Jayden held my wrist and said in my ear, "Are you okay now". I only nodded as his lips brushed my ears.

That was enough to put me on cloud nine as I felt butterflies in my stomach. I looked towards Mimi, she was focused on Kyla who was trying a stunt.

He let go of me. I was attracted to Jayden no doubt. We all played water polo for about ten more minutes and we got bored.

The weather was changing and it looked like it was going to rain.

Why hadn't someone thought about it. Oh wait, I did.

It was about some minutes past six and we all changed to our normal clothes and prepared to head out.

"Did you have fun today?" Kyle asked me.

I smiled.

"I did."

"How are you?" I know he meant health wise.

"Good as you can see." I replied faking a grin.

Kyle stared at me for a while and gave me a 'this conversation is not over look' as Jayden approached us.

"Let's get going." He told us eyeing Kyle a little too obviously.
