CHAPTER 20

"We can't keep running forever," Julian said, pacing the small, dimly lit room we'd found for shelter. His tone was sharp, his frustration palpable.

Jasper leaned against the wall, arms crossed, his usual smirk replaced by a rare seriousness. "Running isn't the problem. It's that your brilliant plans seem to lead us straight into traps."

"This isn't about me," Julian snapped, glaring. "We wouldn't be in this mess if you hadn't-"

"Enough!" I interrupted, cutting through their argument. "You both just blame each other. That's not getting us anywhere. We need solutions, not more fighting."

They both stopped talking, but the tension didn't dissipate. I let out a sigh, rubbing my temples.

"What's the plan?" I asked Julian, turning to him.

He paused before speaking. "I have a contact—someone who used to work with me. They have resources we can use, but it's not going to be cheap or easy."
