The sound of skin hitting skin filled the dimly lit room, which seemed to only favor the dark color. The curtains on the windows were dark, the chairs and tables were dark, and even the bed—shaking like a massage chair—was dark.

"Kent Madson, your time has come to die," announced a woman in her late thirties, stepping in with three massive men who looked like bodybuilders.

"Director Nancy, what is the meaning of this?" Kent asked a slight frown on his face.

"What's wrong? You stole my lead actress and even signed her to an exclusive 10-year deal! What do you take me for? Do you think I would go out scouting talent just for you to swoop in and steal them?" Nancy shouted, her pain evident.

"I didn't steal your talent, Nancy. She came to me. In fact, I hesitated to sign her, knowing she was from your camp. However, my partners wanted her, so they roped her in. The deal hasn't been finalized, so if you want, I can stop it," Kent replied calmly, avoiding arrogance.

The men behind Nancy were far too huge for him to consider running past them. And even worse, he was never one to make enemies, so he'd never bothered with hiring security.

"No, you're right, Kent—the deal hasn't been signed. Which means that when you're dead, she'll come running back to her mommy," Nancy sneered, then turned to the three men. "Make it quick."

"Nancy, what are you do—" Kent began, but a huge hand clamped over his mouth, lifting him off the ground.

Moments later, they were on the highest floor of his mansion. One of the men spoke, his voice cold. "In your next life, learn not to take what isn't yours."

With that, the three men threw him from the building, crashing onto the tile floor 150 feet below. Kent didn't even feel the pain as his consciousness was torn from his body.

In the next moment, he found himself standing before a towering gate, exuding a single, overwhelming emotion—Hatred.
