BEGINNING OF THE END 1

Harlow didn't know whether to be happy at the news or sad. Heaven has finally decided to smile at her. They had taken two and blessed her with one. This time, she would protect her child better than the past two.

The doctor performed the scan test to know the state of the child. "Even if the baby had survived, I'm afraid your pregnancy is risky, you need a lot of rest and you have to be extra careful." Harold nodded.

She would never let anything happen to her child. Harlow held her stomach as she started crying all over again.

The doctor stared at her in silence and shook his head gently. A whole lot had happened in less than twenty-four hours, he still didn't know how Harlow was still so calm after everything.

They had all witnessed the scene between her, Alanis, and Claudia. It is indeed a pity that a beautiful young woman like this has to go through such.

"Thank you, doctor." Halow managed to say between her sobs. She needed some time alone to wallow in her misery. Today has indeed been the worst day of her life, but things will change from now on. She would never let anyone look down on her ever again.

The doctor stared at the young lady one more time before leaving the room with his nurses.

According to regulations, crematoriums do not allow family members to watch the cremation process.

Harlow paid a huge sum of money to be here. Right now she was holding a cold metal in her hands as she walked into the cremation room to see her baby boy one final time before he's burned to dust.

Her eyes were swollen and red, but the glasses she wore was big and bold enough to conceal it.

The pain and cut marks around her body were very noticeable, but she tolerated the pain like always. No pain was greater than the pain of losing a child. She didn't mind she was the only one here or the only one who knew about Alex's death. The Hamilton family didn't care about her or her son, so why would she bother telling them?

She has already wasted the good years of her life loving a man that doesn't deserve her. She would get her revenge on Alanis and every member of the Hamilton family who had done bad to her.

The room Harlow stood was burning hot and ashes filled the room. It was ashes of other bodies. Something her Alex would turn into soon.

She felt useless. She blamed herself for not being strong enough to protect her son. Her stomach contracted again and she placed her hands there. "It's okay, mummy's here with you. Just endure let's burn your brother and leave." She murmured.

She had lost her last sanity and life.

Never in her life did she dream of a future as miserable as this one. All she wanted was to be with a man she loved and to be loved. Was that too much to ask?

Harlow, now dressed in a long black dress and a large hat. Even if it was a simple dress, it was not enough to hide her emaciated figure. In just days, she has turned into something else.

Something old and wasted.

She reached out her hands to hold the cold stiff small hands under the white sheets. The hands that once used to be so fresh and full of life.

Harlow's eyes welled up in tears as she stared at her son. The staff member who saw how hard the young woman tried to control herself felt pity for her. No mother wanted to go through this, the pain of having children and losing them at a very young age was unbearable.

There was no one to console the woman, she was all alone mourning her dead child.

"My condolences to you young lady, I'm sure the baby's in a happy place now." The woman couldn't hold her words.

"Of course. My baby is in the best place. I just wish he hadn't left so quick." Harlow smiled but the staff member didn't buy her toughness one bit. She only shook her head without another response to her.

Harlow recalled the emotional torture her son had gone through in the arms of Alanis and his family. They barely cared for Alex.

'Mummy, why don't daddy love me?' Alex would ask her sometimes.

'Mummy are you and daddy fighting because of me again? I'm sorry.'

Mummy, am I a burden to you two? Don't worry in the future, I'll fix it all for you.' A cold glint flashed through Harlow's eyes as she laughed mockingly.

It was time for the cremation, a staff member stepped forward and pulled Harlow away. Then he pulled the white sheet from Alex's face, revealing the little child and the bruises around his chest.

It was evident how brutal the hospital was with her son. His ribs were protruding. How did she not see all of these marks from before? How did her son die so easily even if the doctor told her countless times he would survive?

This was beyond just surgery, this is murder...

Someone must have murdered her son. But who?

They had been so brutal to her baby, they didn't give him an easy death and she wouldn't give them easy lives either. She will make every single one of them pay for what they did to her son.

"Please go ahead and cremant him, he's suffered enough," Harlow said calmly and the staff member nodded. They carried her son to the burning furnace, perhaps out of pity, they shielded the process a little from her eyes. But she watched her baby burn to ashes and dust before her very eyes.

This is it. This marks the end of whatever relationship she has with Alanis or his family. She was now officially a free woman.

The Hamilton had pushed her to the wall over and over again, turning her into a mad woman ever since Claudia returned. Now her son was no more, she had no business with them anymore. They would see who the mad woman really is now.

She left the place after picking up Alex's ashes. She would need to sign the divorce papers and send the ashes to her husband. He could keep it since he wanted the full custody of their son. Maybe when he looks at it, he would be reminded every day of how bad of a father he was to Alex.
