Nathan stared down lovingly at the woman on the bed and in his arms. Her eyes were shut, and her breaths were soft. The continuous rise and fall of her chest and the warmth of her body was the only thing that had Nathan calming down. It had him secure that the woman was not gone, that she had not left him.

She whimpered, her brows scrunched, and Nathan felt his heart collapse. He pulled her closer into his embrace, placing soft kisses on her forehead as he muttered softly in her ears. She was having nightmares once again. The nightmares that seemed to have disappeared had reappeared, haunting her sleep. And it was all his fault.

Nathaniel had organized the gathering only on his account. Essentially, the old man had wanted to celebrate his birthday with his son, daughter-in-law, grandson and granddaughter-in-law. But due to his persuasion, the old man had invited the other family members.
