The characters are well developed, and the story is fast-paced. The female lead is strong and smart. At 18, she is unwillingly gifted to a powerful mafia Don to repay the debt that her father owes. She was meant for the son, but complications arose. She's trapped in a place where she barely speaks the language and is without resources/help. How will she be free of the Don's grasp and return to the home she knows and loves?
I'm still reading, but this book hooked me from the start because the action moved quickly. The tension is gripping. And, the battle of the minds between Ivanna, the fl, and the Don is intense.
