Marvel Scientist Becomes God, Ch 43.2

The TV was replaying a meeting from earlier in the day about whether to register mutants.

Jean stood at the podium, slowly saying, "Ladies and gentlemen, humanity is facing another stage of evolution. Mutations often occur during puberty and can be triggered by emotional fluctuations..."

"Thank you, Ms. Grey, you are quite knowledgeable," a middle-aged man interrupted her disdainfully. "But you've strayed from today's topic, which is whether mutants are a danger."

"That question isn't appropriate; some people get into car accidents while driving," Jean defended herself.

"So they should get a driver's license!"

"Yes, but survival doesn't come with a license, Senator Kelly. In fact, once mutants reveal their identities, they face hostility and violence. I urge for the cancellation of mutant registration.

Revealing a mutant identity..."

Senator Kelly shot back, "Revealing mutant identities? Why hide in the shadows? If there's nothing to hide, why are they keeping a low profile?"

"They're not hiding..."

Kelly interrupted her again, "I know where they hide. I have a list of mutants in the U.S. There's a girl who can easily walk through walls; what if she broke into a bank vault? Or infiltrated the White House to assassinate the president? Or entered the homes of everyone present? I've also heard that mutants can sense and control human thoughts, manipulating our minds and actions at will. Is that person not terrifying? Thus, we have the right to decide whether to accept mutants or keep our distance from them. We need to expose them, understand them, and study them..."

Faced with Senator Kelly's sharp retorts, Jean found herself completely defeated, while the experienced politician continued his compelling speech.

"Just as our ancestors faced wild beasts in nature, initially powerless, they eventually evolved to study these creatures, ultimately overcoming them and turning them into food or pets. The same goes for mutants; we must understand and study them to not fear them. Therefore, we must thoroughly expose them and limit their actions..."

"Senator Kelly, are you suggesting we lock them up?" someone asked.

"They're too dangerous, posing a significant threat to human society, so they must be contained until we ascertain they're no longer a danger!"

The hall erupted into loud applause, suggesting that everyone present agreed with Senator Kelly's viewpoint.

This is understandable; humans tend to fear unknown creatures and often wish to control or confine them entirely.

"This is wrong," Gwen said worriedly. "It seems like our situation as mutants is becoming increasingly perilous."

Ye Hai's eyes glinted coldly as he chuckled, "Perhaps we should do something about it."

He already had a plan in mind; wasn't Senator Kelly always talking about locking up mutants? What if he himself became a mutant? That would surely be interesting, right?
