C20: Amazing

What does it mean?

Does it know that I read the file? Does it know about the save? Scary little devil!

It is talking to me, isn't it, not just the characters in the game?

Has everything I've done been counted?

I suddenly felt a creepy sensation on my back, and I even subconsciously turned around to look back at my empty office, then at the door, and finally at the window, but nothing, I found.

The little flower in the game isn't just talking to the protagonist.

"Instead, it's having a conversation with me—the player sitting in front of the computer." I thought this setup was indeed scary for the first time experience.

It knows what I've done and even knows I could start over.

Although I'm fully aware that this is just how the game was designed,

I'm still shocked.

And what do the words coming out of Hua Hua's mouth mean?

It seems to possess a similar kind of power.

What is determination?

While exploring the castle, I come across some charts shining like stars.

When I investigate them, I am met with a single sentence:

"It fills you with determination."

༎ຶ ‿ ༎ຶ ~ My reaction

For a moment, countless questions filled my mind.

But even more, I feel a sense of wonder.

After all, it was just a nominal RPG game at first.

But with the appearance of Hua Hua, it's as if the circuits within are shattered.

What's next?

With this mystery hanging in my mind, I continue.

One character after another, each with their unique charm, appears in the game.

Sans, shaking hands with me while holding a whoopee cushion, and Papyrus, so obsessed with stopping me through puzzles, leave a deep impression on me—especially the skeleton brothers.

Sans, who looks lazy, constantly cracks skeleton puns, teasing his brother Papyrus.

His brother, meanwhile, is determined to stop me using his puzzles and traps.

The funny thing is, even when I get trapped by one of the puzzles, Papyrus often reveals the solution himself. What a cool dude.

Then there's Undyne, a fierce warrior chasing me across the maps. When I finally reach the lava area, she collapses from dehydration. That is convenient, there's a water dispenser nearby, and at that moment, I can choose—save her or not?

In the laboratory, Dr. Ephesus looked a little dull and shy, just like a nerd.

When answering the questions of the robot she created, she would also motion her hand to suggest the correct answer to me, the player.

Based on the answer to the robot's questions, I could tell that she still had feelings for the fisherman, Undyne, who was pursuing me, the protagonist. (well, She is indeed pursuing me)

Then, there was her performance before the showdown with the robot under the moon, which was simply eye-popping and light-blinding.

But what shocked me the most was the conversation I had with Shansi in the splendid corridor before facing the final boss in the game.

At the start, I thought that the setting of Undertale was just like any other RPG game.

Though, the appearance of little Hua Hua earlier left me shocked. It also amazed me for a long time, I continued to play the game as I would with any other RPG.

Isn't it normal to fight monsters and level up in RPGs?

Miss Spider, and some of the other monsters I encountered along the way, were pleasing to the eye, so I spared them. Others, who I found more troublesome and less likeable, I beheaded without a second thought.

But now, Shansi's words made me realize that I had misunderstood everything.

EXP wasn't the so-called experience points, but an abbreviation for Execution Points. The word is translated to "execution points."

The same goes for LOVE—it wasn't about the typical level of a character, but rather, an abbreviation for "Level of Violence," which represented the violence index.

Every time I killed a monster in the game, the Execution Points and Violence Points went up.

At this point, my LV had reached level 11.

Then, I remembered what the motherly sheep had told me in the beginning—to befriend the monsters. There were hints and items scattered throughout the game from the start.

Through to the final battle, the BOSS wasn't evil, but rather, very friendly like next-door uncle. Before the fight, he kept asking if I was ready.

If I said I wasn't, he kindly responded that he wasn't ready either.

But once I passed through the final gate and confirmed my readiness, everything changed.

The exciting BGM kicked in.

A strange light illuminates the room.

The light of dawn passes through the barrier.

It seems that my journey has finally come to an end.

I am now full of 'determination.'

The narration subtitles slowly faded, and the king opened his eyes, accompanied by the words: Say Goodbye to mankind.

In an instant, a horn of war sounded, and It descended to earth, the scarlet cloak on my body was raised, and I waved the trident in my hand to smash the button with "mercy" written on it.

I will smash my kindness and you will smash your kindness. Don't run away—this battle will end in your death and my wildness!

The difficulty of the last level is incredibly high. Although I had played similar bullet-hell games, danger still lurked everywhere.

After finally defeating the king, I was presented with a choice: to kill or forgive him.

At that moment, I thought of what Mother Sheep and Shansi had said, and I chose to forgive.

In the face of my forgiveness, the king seemed surprised and expressed his willingness to take care of me alongside Mother Sheep. Together, we would form a new family in the underground world. Everything felt so warm and beautiful.

But in the next moment, a flash of sword light cut through the scene, and to my shock, Hua Hua appeared.

It killed the king.

"You idiot, you still haven't learned anything. In this world, you either kill or be killed."

With Hua Hua's hideous laughter echoing, my screen suddenly went black.

What just happened? A bug? Why did the game disappear?

Before I could figure it out, the game restarted automatically.

But now, the opening animation seemed eerie.

When I entered the save screen, things got even stranger. It wasn't my save.

It read: Hua Hua, lv: 9999.

This was Hua Hua's save file.

When I chose to continue, my character can't move and all I see is from the god view.

I walked toward a save point, but the moment I reached it, the screen trembled, and blood-colored cracks spread across the save information.

Finally, five syllable appeared: [Save File Deleted].

With the save file broken, Hua Hua reappeared on the screen.

The little flower, who had devoured the souls of six human children, now claimed to be a god.

But its appearance had morphed into something grotesque, a twisted monstrosity. This was the true final boss fight.

This battle was even harder than the one with the king.

Every time I died, the game over screen appeared with a chilling message:

[It's all just a nightmare, and you'll soon wake up.]

Alongside the message, Hua Hua's terrifying laughter filled the screen with the sound effect in the background as it was plastered with 'hahaha', and then the game setup crashed and automatically closed again.

When I reopened the game, Hua Hua continued taunting me from the screen.

"Do you think I'll be satisfied just by killing you once?" it sneered.

"There is no perfect ending in this world."

To defeat Hua Hua, I had to keep persevering with my multiple deaths until I woke up the mourning souls of the other children it had devoured. Only then could I strip it of the power to manipulate save files, finally making it possible to defeat this terrifying boss!

After I defeated Hua Hua, I was given another choice: kill or forgive it. But whether I killed or forgave it, the ending remained the same.

The only difference was that by forgiving the little flower, I gained the knowledge of how to unlock the peaceful path.

As the final credits rolled, the game was officially over.

But as I sat in front of my computer, I still hadn't fully recovered from the shock the game had delivered.

It was amazing.

Breaking my comprehension of RPG games, deleting my save files, crashing on its own, and Hua Hua's terrifying lines—It all made the underground world feel real as if characters like Hua Hua truly existed.

And with that awe came curiosity.

In the grand hallway, after my conversation with Shansi, I had learned everything.

The so-called LOVE was really the "Level Of Violence," and EXP was "Execution Points."

But what about the other two endings? I like a cat felt my curiosity rising!
