Chapter 12

"

"Well, it's normal for a few people to die in horror movies, right?"

Especially in a town with horror legends, and today was just when those legends were coming back to life.

Randy felt that he could start preparing new nutrients in the afternoon.

Starting with those restless students.

"After all, the blood of young people is more vigorous and valuable."

Randy prepared lunch in advance. For the past few days, he had been eating four meals a day, each requiring a substantial amount of meat or high-calorie, high-sugar food.

After finishing the meal, Randy began to plan his next steps.

Firstly, he needed to keep track of Carrie, who was already set to be a devotee. Even though he couldn't go to the school now, he needed at least one spy there.

Chris was a good choice.

Randy rested for a bit and, around 3 p.m., prepared another nutritious meal for the afternoon.

Once his energy was slightly restored, he selected a necklace from his bedroom and took it with him, along with other necessary items, then rode his bike towards the town.

This time, he went straight to the school.

At the entrance, Randy easily passed the gatekeeper's inspection.

"I'm from Class 12-B. I had taken a leave due to a car accident, and I'm here to apply for an extension of my leave."

The gatekeeper, noticing Randy wasn't carrying a black backpack or a guitar case, let him through without much trouble.

"Oh, poor child. Go ahead quickly."

Since it was still class time, there weren't many people on the school playground.

After parking his bike, Randy followed the route from memory and found the office of the class advisor.

It was occupied by a rather plump black woman.

She looked surprised upon seeing Randy and tentatively called out his name.

"Randy?"

"It's me, Ms. Smith."

"Please, have a seat. I apologize for not having had much time to visit you or check on your situation due to my busy schedule recently."

Randy felt his visit was a poor move, as Ms. Smith had almost forgotten about him.

After some brief pleasantries, Randy started discussing the extension of his leave. But he couldn't use excuses that were too extreme, like falling ill due to homesickness or a family member's death leading to physical deterioration. If he did, a meddlesome teacher would definitely contact local child protection services to detain him.

"I've been adjusting myself these past few days. I believe you can see my enthusiasm and aspirations for the future. I'm confident that in a week, I will be able to reintegrate into the class and catch up with the curriculum."

Randy displayed an optimistic attitude.

This pleased Ms. Smith.

"Randy, you're doing well. I, and the other students, believe you'll definitely overcome this shadow. I'll speak to your teacher and see if the students can hold a welcome party for you."

"There's no need for that. I don't want my family issues to make my classmates give me special attention. It would be an unnecessary burden for them."

This made Ms. Smith even more satisfied, and she easily approved Randy's extended leave request.

Randy then smiled, took paper and pen, and went to another vacant desk to fill out the application form.

However, after completing the form, Randy didn't leave immediately.

He took out the prepared letter and started writing a vivid love letter.

Randy didn't leave his name but included the rather expensive gold necklace in the envelope as well.

After sealing the envelope, he handed the application form to Ms. Smith and then took his leave.

Considering the time, it was currently the second period of the afternoon. After this class, there would be physical education and club activities.

As he passed the lockers, Randy slipped the envelope into Chris's locker through the ventilation slot.

Then he left the teaching building.

As he left, the class dismissal bell rang.

The timing was just right.

He greeted the gatekeeper on his way out.

"Hope your leave application went smoothly."

The gatekeeper responded with a smile, "God bless you. Have a good holiday."

Randy then pushed his bike to a small alley near the school, which he had scouted earlier that morning. There was a corner further in that was even more secluded…

Back at the school.

The second period ended.

Chris took out her phone, looking displeased.

"Damn Billy, why hasn't he replied to my messages or answered my calls?"

Her gaze shifted to Carrie in the corner, her frustration having no place to go.

Sussie, sitting next to her, wasn't pleased either.

The two had had a small argument about Carrie.

The cause was Chris's plan to kidnap Carrie and her hope that Sussie and her boyfriend Tommy would help, especially since Chris's boyfriend Billy was unreachable.

Sussie had refused and even advised Chris a few times, which led to Chris's dissatisfaction.

But since they were close friends, Sussie didn't want their friendship to be broken because of an outsider.

"Forget it, Chris, don't think about this anymore. We should go to the training."

"I'm just not in the mood right now."

Chris's anger, driven by Sussie's bias and her boyfriend's absence, needed an outlet.

"But it's Ms. Jatin's class, which is crucial for the town's cheerleading team selection."

As a close friend, Sussie knew exactly what Chris wanted—to stand out.

This somewhat shifted Chris's attention.

With a frown, she eventually nodded.

"Fine."

The two then got up and left the classroom. However, as they passed by Carrie, Chris cast a "you'll pay for this" glance.

This made Carrie lower her head even further.

After leaving the classroom, Chris walked ahead like a leader, while Sussie followed, mindful of her friend's feelings.

Other female classmates cast envious glances at Chris on their way.

Male students continuously ogled her exposed outfit and her tanned physique.

"Hey, Sussie, hey, Chris."

On the way, they met Sussie's boyfriend Tommy, who greeted them kindly.

Chris sneered. She envied her friend's boyfriend, who seemed more energetic and handsome compared to Billy, who now seemed like a nuisance.

"Enjoy your time as a couple."

After saying this, Chris went to her locker to change clothes.

But when she opened it, she found a letter with the romantic script "love letter" written on it.

It felt bulging when touched.

"What era is this? Still using such outdated methods for a love letter?"

Despite her disdainful words, Chris felt secretly pleased.

When she opened it, she was immediately stunned.

The opening line read: "Don't show this to others, especially Sussie. I wrote this without her knowing."

Chris instinctively glanced at the sweet, lovey-dovey couple nearby, especially Tommy.

Noticing her gaze, Tommy raised his eyebrows, as if to show something, but to Chris, it seemed like a hint of something.
