Chapter 4 interview

The next morning, Lilith stood in front of the wardrobe, pulling out the clothes the original owner had carefully selected for her upcoming interview. She inspected them with a critical eye but found them satisfactory enough.

Lilith slipped into a crisp white blouse made of silk, its fabric smooth and cool against her skin. The blouse had a simple, elegant design with a slight V-neck and delicate buttons running down the front. The sleeves were long, but the cuffs were rolled up just slightly.

Over the blouse, she pulled on a black, tailored blazer. The jacket was slim-fitting, accentuating her figure perfectly.

For the bottom, she chose a pair of high-waisted black trousers, perfectly tailored to her long legs. The trousers had clean lines and a flattering cut that hugged her hips but flared slightly at the ankles.

To complete the outfit, she slipped into a pair of black heels, not too high but enough to give her a boost of confidence. The shoes were sleek and simple, with a glossy finish.

Her hair—long, silky black—was styled into a loose, low bun, with a few strands falling gently around her face, softening her otherwise sharp look. For makeup, she kept it minimal but striking—a hint of mascara to accentuate her icy blue eyes, a touch of blush, and nude-pink lipstick that complemented her plump lips.

As she looked at herself in the mirror, Lilith smirked.

"I look like a disastrous beauty," Lilith thought with a smirk as she grabbed her sleek black leather bag and slipped some cash into her pocket for breakfast. The interview was at sharp 10 AM, and the clock now read 8:56 AM. She had plenty of time to grab a bite before facing the so-called moody CEO.

Spotting a cozy café nearby, Lilith made her way inside. The smell of freshly brewed coffee greeted her as she entered, mingling with the soft hum of morning chatter.

Walking in, she chose a small table by the window, where the soft morning light filtered in.

Sitting down, she placed her bag on the chair next to her and leaned back slightly, taking in her surroundings. The café was quaint, with wooden furniture, soft lighting, and a display case filled with pastries and baked goods. The staff seemed friendly, bustling around, attending to customers who were either glued to their laptops or engaged in quiet conversations.

Lilith's icy blue eyes scanned the menu placed on the table. She wasn't particularly hungry, but she knew she needed something to keep her energy up for what could be an amusing interview. "Maybe just a quick coffee and a croissant," she thought.

Lilith signaled a server, ready to place her order. The waiter, a young boy, quickly approached, but she didn't miss the way his cheeks flushed pink as he caught sight of her gorgeous face. He had noticed her the moment she stepped inside, and by the looks of it, he wasn't the only one. Practically everyone in the café had been sneaking glances at her since she walked in, their curiosity and admiration poorly hidden.

The young boy stammered as he addressed her, "W-what can I g-get for you, miss?"

Lilith raised an eyebrow, amused by his obvious nervousness. His fidgeting hands and the way he could barely look her in the eye were almost too entertaining. She tilted her head slightly, her cold blue eyes peeking through her thick lashes, making his blush deepen.

"I'll have a black coffee and a croissant," she said smoothly, her voice calm and collected, as if she didn't notice the effect she had on him.

The boy quickly jotted down her order, his hands still shaky. "Y-yes, right away!" he stammered again before rushing off in a hurry, nearly stumbling over himself in the process.

Lilith's lips curved into a faint smirk as she watched him leave, barely able to contain her amusement. Her gaze flicked around the café, noting how the other customers continued to steal glances at her.

She was used to this—people being flustered by her presence, mesmerized by her beauty. In fact, it was something she had often found rather trivial.

Leaning back in her chair, she crossed her legs.

After finishing her quick breakfast, Lilith glanced at the young waiter who had served her. The boy, still blushing slightly, stood nearby, trying to look busy but obviously sneaking peeks at her. Lilith smirked, amused by his awkwardness.

She reached into her black leather bag and pulled out some cash. As the boy approached to collect her plate, she flashed him a smile so dazzling, it looked like it could stop his heart. His face turned an even deeper shade of red, completely mesmerized by her.

"Thank you," she said smoothly, holding out the tip with an elegance that made the simple act seem regal.

The boy stammered a shy "Th-thank you, miss," clearly flustered by the attention she was giving him.

Lilith's icy blue eyes gleamed as she stood up, tossing her bag over her shoulder. With one last amused glance at the boy, she turned on her heels and walked out of the café.

Finally, Lilith stepped outside the café, feeling the morning breeze against her skin. She pulled out her phone and called for a taxi. Within minutes, a taxi pulled up to the curb. Without hesitation, she got in and casually gave the address to the driver.

"Carter Enterprises," she said, her tone firm and confident.

The driver didn't need any further clarification. Who in the city didn't know the address of Carter Enterprises? It was the tallest, most iconic building in City M, towering over the skyline like a giant sentinel.

Finally, the taxi pulled up in front of the towering Carter Enterprises building. The massive structure loomed above, its reflective windows glinting under the morning sun. Lilith didn't hesitate as she stepped out of the car.

She elegantly handed over the fare to the driver, a polite but distant smile on her lips. Without waiting for a response, she turned and began her walk towards the entrance. Her heels clicked rhythmically against the pavement.
