Chapter 57: Storms At Sea, Scrambling For Chiba

On Fish-Man Island, somewhere along the shore.

A massive pirate ship was docked, its sail emblazoned with a giant symbol of Whitebeard.

It was the Whitebeard Pirates.

On the deck, Whitebeard was swinging his enormous naginata, exercising.

"Good news, Pops!" Marco ran over excitedly, handing a newspaper to Whitebeard.

Whitebeard glanced at it.

The headline read: *New Age Marine Monster, Iron Fist Chiba, Crushes Blackbeard with a Single Punch.*

Below it was a photo of Chiba sitting on top of Blackbeard, slapping his face.

"Hahaha!" Whitebeard laughed, his eyes sharp like an eagle's. "Iron Fist Chiba… he really does resemble Garp when he was young. He's making waves now."

"But Marco, this isn't exactly good news for us."

Marco looked excited. "Pops, you don't know. The reason Chiba is on Banaro Island is because he went there to save Ace from Teach."

"Now that Ace has been sent to Impel Down, I'm sure Chiba will go to rescue him."

"But since Chiba is a Marine, he can't act openly. If we go to him now and ask him to help us with some high-quality Foundation Establishment Pills to restore your strength—under the pretext of helping Ace—he won't refuse."

"Plus, if Ace puts in a good word, maybe we can even convince Chiba to join the Whitebeard Pirates as your son, Pops. If that happens, I'd gladly give up my position as the First Division Commander!"

Whitebeard shook his head at Marco's words. "Marco, that man is destined to become a ruler of the seas. He won't be tied down to anyone. Let go of that idea."

Marco's face fell in disappointment, realizing the truth in Whitebeard's words.

*Monkey D. Chiba is already an Admiral candidate, with strength equal to an Admiral's and a bright future ahead. How could he abandon all that to join a pirate crew?*

"But for Ace's sake, if we ask him for some Foundation Establishment Pills, he probably won't refuse."

"With the Foundation Establishment Pills we bought from the black market and the Qi Training Art we stole from the Marines, Pops has already stopped taking other medications. His injuries have almost fully healed, his stamina has improved, his body feels younger, and his strength has greatly increased."

In the New World, on a distant island.

Inside a lively tavern, sounds of laughter and shouting filled the air.

"Five cards, six six six! Captain, you lost again!"

"Guess I'm drinking!" The red-haired Shanks smiled, grabbing a bottle and downing it in one gulp.

A new crew member looked at him, exasperated. "Captain, we've played thirty rounds, and you haven't won a single time. Are you sure you're losing on purpose?"

The red-haired laughed, "Alright, alright. This time, whoever wins gets to drink."

"Fine by me!" The new crew member grinned, excitement sparking in his eyes.

"Five cards, six six six…"

"Captain, you won again?!"

"I guess I'll drink if I win," Shanks grinned, taking another swig from his bottle.

The rest of the crew laughed, hoisting their own bottles as they drank and ate alongside their captain.

Just then, the first mate, Benn Beckman, entered the tavern with a stack of newspapers. He slapped them down on the table in front of Shanks, his expression serious. "Captain, Ace, the Second Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates, has been defeated by Blackbeard and handed over to the Marines. He's been sent to Impel Down."

"Marine HQ's Admiral candidate, Monkey D. Chiba, went to Banaro Island and defeated the Blackbeard Pirates with a single punch. It's estimated that this Chiba already possesses Admiral-level combat power."

As Beckman's words sank in, the tavern fell silent, all eyes turning to Shanks.

Shanks picked up the newspaper, his face growing solemn as he looked at the report. "So, that brat has grown even stronger."

"Captain, Chiba has left Marine HQ. If we can convince him to join our crew, our strength would increase significantly," Beckman suggested.

Shanks shook his head. "That kid… I doubt he'd join us."

Beckman sighed. "If only we'd taken him aboard back then…"

"Captain, even if we can't bring him into our crew, we can't allow him to join any other pirate crew either—let alone return to Marine HQ."

Shanks looked at the news about Ace's capture, then glanced at Chiba's image again and sighed. "The seas are stirring again. Looks like our peaceful days are coming to an end."

"Come on, let's head to Banaro Island and join the fun. Time to catch up with an old friend."
