A spatial beast

Both Garmond and Ariana scanned around to search for the beast, however, it was nowhere to be found!

Suddenly the air rippled, and with Garmond's senses he quickly jolted, taking a stance as he looked in the direction.

In front of him was a small pup beast, it's azure eyes staring at him confusedly.

"Huh how did it get there?" He quickly called Ariana's attention towards that direction. She turned to see the beast and was quite shocked as well.

They were several explanations to the strange phenomenon, but she was yet to understand what happened, so she couldn't make poor judgements.

She had to calm down and observe.

She threw a meaningful glance at Garmond, and Garmond nodded in response. He walked stealthily towards the small pup, as it licked on its paws.

"Okay, little one, come to daddy" Garmond said, as he stretched out his hands to grab the beast. With one swift motion, he swung his hands, but the beast disappeared yet again, and left Garmond hugging himself.

He could hear Ariana's voice from the back.

"So you can't even catch a little beast" she said in a mocking tone.

A vein popped visibly on his neck upon hearing Ariana's remark.

"Oh since it's so easy, why don't you come get it yourself!" Garmond yelled, as he rolled his eyes at Ariana's figure.

"You know I can't do that, I don't have a physical body. But I can tell you how to get it out" She replied, her lip curling into a grin.

"You probably just figured out how it disappeared" Garmond sneered. Of course, she wouldn't talk that way if she didn't know anything pertaining to the beast disappearance.

"Indeed, I've figured out where the beast is hiding. stretch out your hand and try to feel the beast. Just like it was when you signed the contract with the beast"

Garmond did as she said. With his hands outstretched, he closed his eyes to gain complete focus. He immediately tried to grasp the feeling he'd felt right after he contracted the beast.

With his concentration at the peak, he could finally feel it. It was like a piece of him was in another space, a place where it wasn't meant to be.

Garmond stretched out his hands and the space shuddered, it was as though he'd torn through the very fabric of reality itself.

And then, there it was, his missing limb!

"You left me stranded there for a second" Garmond smiled as he looked into the beast eyes.

"What you have with you, is by no means a normal beast. That's a prize cow! I must say you're really in luck" Ariana said as she looked at the little pup in his hands.

Still shocked that a beast of such calibre could be found in such a place.

"Can you be more specific, what do you mean?"

Ariana took a deep breath, 'do I have to explain everything to this idiot!!' it became rather frustrating. Garmonds poor knowledge of magic was really a blacklash to his progress.

"It's not my fault I woke up to see my world bathed in mana. It was only a miniscule amount before. Only few had such abilities, and they were all seen as special" Garmond tried his best to explain, but Ariana simply rolled her eyes as she continued.

"The beat you have with you is a special magical beast, with strong affinity to the space element. Which means it can control space, albeit at a menial level. To top it up, the beast is a natural born magical beast. Rarest of it's kind. That's why I said you got a prized cow. Cause a lot will be deing to have these" She explained.

"Wow, so now I have a little powerful beast as well" Garmond was left in awe, after hearing what she said.

But he was still confused, so there were other elements aside from the basic one he was aware of? But rather than ask further questions, he smiled wryly shoving the thoughts to the back of his mind.

"Alright then, since this is all settled. Let's head back to the school cafeteria, I'm starved" Garmond grumbled, as he looked at the beast he had in his hands.

"So where am I going to keep him?" Garmond asked.

"It's a spatial beast and it seems to have it's own personal space as well. As it's master you have access to its space, and you can order it to do anything. It cannot disobey your orders. But you have to show dominance while placing your orders else it won't be considered as one" Ariana explained.

Garmond paused for a moment, rubbing his hands against his beardless chin.

'So all I have to do is to tell you to get back into your space?' He said looking at the pup.

'I've not even given you a name, so what should I call you?' He pondered slightly.

"It's a female" Ariana quickly reminded, as she saw the smile on Garmonds face. He had no idea what gender it was and he already gave it a name.

With a wry smile, Garmond changed his mind drastically.

"Valotrix! That's a nice name right?" He shifted his gaze to Ariana.

"I don't know, I guess you've always been bad at naming things" Ariana shrugged.

Garmond's mouth twitched, but then he ignored her, "I'll just call you valotrix." He said as he looked at the small pup. The eyes shimmering brightly as it looked at him as though it had already accepted it's new name.

"You see, she likes it" He threw a glance at Ariana who rolled her eyes.

"Valotrix, get back into your space" He said with a commanding tone. At first it felt as though the beast didn't understand him, as it stood staring at him for a while.

But then, a few seconds later, it quickly disappeared from sight.

Now it was all over, silence returning to the forest. Although, looking around, Garmond could see the mess he'd left behind.

Most of the trees had been uprooted, and were laying on the ground. A huge part of the hill had caved in from his strike earlier.

"Well, I caused a lot of havoc here" Garmond observed the deformation he'd caused in the open field. It looked way different from how he'd met it.

After a long look, he turned around heading back towards the entrance. He had already gotten a crystal that would last him a week.

"Hey, you can't be following me around like that. What would the others say if they see you" Garmond pointed out. It would definitely be awkward for the other to see him walking side-by-side with what appeared to be a ghost.

"That's true, I'll get back inside. I just wanted to stretch out a bit. Your consciousness is choking sometimes. I mean how the hell do you survive?" Ariana complained as she gracefully strode forward.

In a whoosh, she entered into Garmond's consciousness once again. But this time, there was a marking left by the side of his head. It was a golden mark drawn with an otherworldly intricate pattern.

It wasn't noticeable, as a side of his black hair covered it, albeit, slightly.

A creepy feeling washed over him, all the hairs in his body standing tall. He couldn't explain the feeling, it was similar to a cold winter breeze blowing past him.

After Ariana had completely disappeared from sight, everything appeared to be normal again, Garmond was just like any normal person who went to hunt alone.

With a few stride, he arrived back at the front of the veil.

"I guess that's all for now" he paused, looking back for a while.

'The training was definitely not in vain!'

He clenched his fist, determination gleaming in his eyes.

'With the new ability of the sword, am sure to grow stronger at a quicker rate.' Garmond couldn't be more happier that he made the decision to come to the hunting grounds.

He earned a high level crystal.

A new powerful pet.

Unlocked an ability of the sword.

Nearly lost his head- 'smiling wryly'

And also reserved several new skills from the memories of those who had wielded the sword.

'I'll check them out one by one, and know the ones I'll be able to use at my current level. I'll need your help on that Ariana'

'Sure. I'll arrange them right away and rank each based on the level and power of destruction' Ariana replied with a stern voice.

She always sounded so serious.

And finally, Garmond was out again, receiving the warming glow from the sun.

This was definitely the air he recognized.

Free from danger whatsoever, but as he took a step forward his face quickly paled out.

A large grumbling sound could be heard coming from his hungry belly.

"I guess all the fighting really made me hungry"
