Chapter 1 - New life

In the heart of an unknown forest, a beautiful wild forest was seen in all its glory, with large trees, bushes, animals climbing and even eating. As well as the soft sound of a beautiful stream.

"Ahhhhhh!" I gasp..

Thus, my frightened scream and a series of my gasps interrupted the soft sound of the stream. After having woken up from a horrible nightmare, I couldn't even open my eyes as I held my chest tightly with heavy gasps.

"Shit, that was horrible, is that what is known as sleep paralysis?" I covered my eyes with my forearm as I relaxed my breathing. "They say it's the worst thing that can happen, rightly so," I sighed as I felt a coldness on my skin. "Huh? Why is it so cold?" I could only grab the texture of grass as I tried to grab my soft blanket to cover myself. "Huh?" I guided my hand further down to touch the soft mattress, only to feel a hard floor. "Wait, why did my bed become so hard?"

Another one of my screams interrupted the peaceful sound of the stream, but this time it was one of surprise and bewilderment. After all, when I opened my eyes, my entire room had disappeared, transformed by a beautiful and unknown nature.

"Where, where the hell am I? What, what is this place?" I gasp. "No, no, calm down, it's probably a dream," I said shaking my head and gently hitting both of my cheeks, "Of course!" That must be it! "I had sleep paralysis and now a lucid dream!" I silently looked at my bare feet. "I have no shoes, no sandals, we're off to a bad start."

After calming down, I got up from the ground and started walking through the woods, observing the surroundings and also watching where I walked to avoid stepping on anything unpleasant. After walking through the woods, I came to a beautiful stream with water so crystal clear that I could see my reflection in it.

"Wow, my dream is so realistic," I started making silly faces as I looked at my reflection. "Is this what lucid dreams look like? "That's probably why people like them so much, they're amazing!" I shouted with my arms outstretched before staggering and holding my knees. "Well, not really, I'm already tired from all the walking," I turned my gaze back to the crystal clear water. "If I got tired from walking, does that mean I'll be able to feel if the water is cold too?"

Starting to pull my pants up from the hem to the knee, I gulped and silently stared at the crystal clear water as I thought about whether entering the stream was a good idea. After silently pondering for a few minutes, I made the decision to slowly enter the stream.

"Wow, it is indeed cold, but not as cold as I thought; I guess it's because it's a lucid dream, though." I looked around at my surroundings, as the thought of this being real crossed my mind, only to quickly dismiss it. "No, that can't be, it would be absurd."

I undoubtedly rejected the idea of this being true. I cleared my mind of any unnecessary thoughts and then began to explore the stream, observing its interior, thanks to it being crystal clear, where it came from and where it went.

...

"This is getting really weird, how can I get so tired and at the same time so hungry in a dream?" After almost an hour, I had finished my exploration and walked for a while through the forest. Which left me very tired and with certain suspicions, to then ignore that idea.

"I have to stop thinking about that nonsense, I'll better look for some food." I looked around at my surroundings, looking for something and even trying to make food appear, imagining it was in front of me, like in dreams. "Oh?", looking up, I saw a huge tree and in its branches there was a vine with granadillas as fruit. "Well, it's not what I wanted, but I'll settle for that."

Approaching the tree, I touched the bark and after looking at the huge tree for a few minutes, I started to climb the tree easily. "That was easy, I guess they called me Monkey in elementary school for a reason, hahaha," leaving my memories of the past behind, I started to pick some granadillas to eat. "I better go down, I'm not a fan of heights." When I was about to eat one of the fruits, my gaze went to the ground and seeing the distance, I got vertigo.

Putting some fruits in my pockets, I started to go down easily. "Going down is a little harder than going up, but not that much," going down, I stepped on a wet part of the tree trunk, which caused me to slip and in surprise I let go of where I was holding on. "Damn it!" Before I fell to the ground, at the last minute I managed to grab hold of the tree bark, causing a sharp pain in my palms. As I got down from the tree, I looked at my palms, where blood was starting to come out…

"This, this is not a fucking dream," I clenched my palms only for the pain to increase, and in shock, I looked around. "But, but how the hell did I get to this place and where the fuck is this place?", it was then that I realized the real problem I was now living.

...

In the heart of that forest, the sound of rain falling on the trees, in the stream, and also in a small shelter made of tree branches and leaves, which I had managed to make after two days of having discovered that it was not a dream, could be heard.

"I want to go home," I said to myself as I hugged my legs in a fetal position. "I want to eat my mother's food again, sleep in my soft bed again, and see my brothers." My appearance had become a complete mess unlike the first day. My skin complexion had become paler with large dark circles under my eyes, and I was a little malnourished.

Ssscccchhh

"Oh shit, not that shit again," hearing the sound of something walking through the grass, I quickly stood up, left my improvised shelter and began to climb the nearest tree, ignoring the rain that continued to fall on me, wetting the only clothes I had. From the top of the tree, with my body shaking from the cold and fear, I could see a bear walking near my little shelter.

The bear was about a meter tall; it was black. Its snout was short, light brown, with whitish spots that extended around the eyes and nose, across the cheeks, down the neck to the chest.

It was a spectacled bear or an Andean bear; perhaps if I had studied a little about fauna, I would realize that my life was not in danger, and not even that bear fell into the category of dangerous bears. But if it were, there would be no point in climbing the tree, since this bear could climb trees with great ease.
