There, he and Thor teamed up to give Surtur a thorough beating. Using the Mind Stone, Chen Ye was able to control Surtur and make him submit.

Surtur has become one of Chen Ye's most prized subordinates.

Although Surtur's full combat potential requires the Eternal Flame, Chen Ye is quite satisfied with having the "weakened" version of Surtur as his ally.

Additionally, Chen Ye also managed to recruit the giant dragon residing in Surtur's lair.

That dragon was incredibly powerful, so much so that even Thor struggled to contain it, being chased around.
