The first day of Coulter's trial occurred the same day that a category two hurricane came ashore about sixty miles to the north of the New Haven courthouse where the trial was scheduled to take place. Ana had worried herself sick that the trial would be postponed due to flooding or a power outage.
Ana had given her word to her uncle that she would be in Althinia before Roland could make a play for the monarchy. If the trial took too long this would become increasingly difficult. She had to be present to give testimony but could not abandon Althinia. She was late in her pregnancy as well, which made the matter even more concerning.
