Most would go for the Sharigan. Dragon Ball KI. Magecraft of some kind. Haki, devil fruit, Devil gene. Maybe attempt the Demi-Fiend process. Super serum if they get their hands on it. Well I'm interested in a different power. A power that can compete with the top as long as your smart enough.
————————————————————
Power is bullshit.
That's what Cobalt thought over a week in a world mimicking Terraira. Not because how absurd some powers are but how many you can get if you had a hint of supernatural in you.
Urahara and Yourichi determined that the world is now reflecting off his soul or what his soul desires. Whatever that mean, they said they would have to explore a bit to get a better understanding. All they can say as a concrete fact, this world was like the inner world of a Shinigami. A place where a Zanpkutō spirit would reside.
Catch is that the world isn't a clean copy of Terraria. Little robots that he was sure wasn't part of the game can be seen flying occasionally overhead, and track marks were found in the forest from little roomba looking machines. So he can only guess it was either a future update world of Terraria or a modded one. Mods weren't crazy during his time so he doesn't really see anything wrong with it being modded.
So during the week he resumed his job as a shopkeeper and began saving credits now that everything now takes only credits. 10% of his total money as been given to the shop in credits as his finances once around 3k was worth 300 credits. So 30 credits were given.
With this in mind he began to scheme ways to gain a supernatural edge. The market was updated to now have access to everything but the rates were insane. The entirety of the Bleach manga was 50 credits. A chakra fruit from Naruto is 100k. A gaming console was 30 credits. Why are books more expensive than a gaming console? The books are the entire plot line of one of his customers! So it's to be expected there were not cheap as normal books. Everything was gonna be a massive drain on his wallet, but he refused to give up.
Unfortunately, he also noticed a deferment. His daily rolls were guaranteed to be common and occasionally rare. Over the week, he gotta supplies you find in everyday jobs. Scissors, cookie cutters, novels. Everyday normal items. He lucked out in one rare time though
Analysis -Element
The ability to understand the complete history of a element. Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Etc. Contact is required.
Requirement: Average Intelligence
When he absorbed the skill orb a rush of information met him.
Analysis- Element has been consumed. Skill [Analysis] semi unlocked. Analysis- Element has been assimilated.
Analysis- Partial Access
Full breakdown of anything and everything you see. The history, the process, the purpose cannot escape your eyes. Weakness, Strength, Potential can be determined with a glance. The world is a open book ready to be read.
Seal: 75%
Requirement: ERROR
Effect: Elemental Analysis
One of his original abilities came undone. His watch informed him of his new power. That means if he can get analysis type abilities, [Analysis] can assimilate it can use it to break the seal!
This brings him to his next task.
Elsa was a eye opener that he can no longer ignore his own mortality. He was powerless against her and didn't even last more than one attack. Demon slaying swordplay while a good start to get him into shape, It won't help when someone like Aizen would waltz through. Sure he already blacklisted his name, he doesn't know a media with bullshit power villains will show up out the blue. Again. So with his knowledge of caution and of various medias he realized something how many ways he can get himself killed trying.
There was too many ways to get power, but not many to progress in right away or with high rates of survival. So he concluded a list of different powers that can be achieved sooner rather than later.
Also with low death rates.
First Cobalt thought of was Terrairas life crystals and Mana Crystals. Life crystals can be used up too 15 times, boosting your starting character from 100 hit points to 400. Mana crystals can be used 9 times to reach a total of 200 mana points. How much is that in his situation? In the game Last Prism is the strongest magic weapon after beating Moonlord. Issue is, it burns through your mana like a flame to paper. Without hundreds of mana potions in your inventory, without any accessories, you can charge it up and blast it for like 1 or 2 seconds.
So if he were to use Last Prism, he can use activate, charge it and use it all about a couple of seconds. Thus until he can get his hands on accessories, magic items or spells that don't cost much will be his bread and butter. During the night, Falling Stars were rare. As in he can only spot one or two per night and they land in deep areas of the forest. Since at night zombies were now a thing, he doesn't risk it for now.
Next Cobalt determined was a Zanpkutō of his own. Urahara agreed to lend him a Asauchi. A nameless Zanpakutō. He was curious if it will develop like a normal zanpakutō or it will change based on Cobalts circumstances. Only time can tell. Iguro also was interested but held off for now and tasked him to be familiar with it in his training.
So until then, Bleach powers were in research stage.
Next is something he decided to work on as it was his best bet and his favorite type of power. Especially with his now available [Analysis]. The first ever power he wanted ever since he started watching anime.
So that's where we now see Cobalt surrounded by books of all different subjects of chemistry. Along with a thick book on Yggdrasil.
What he was going to attempt was Alchemy. Fullmetal Alchemist Alchemy.
A type of power that relied on intellect and symbols. Though he did have a hidden goal in this as well. He was gonna attempt to perform human transmutation, not to actually bring back the dead or along those lines, but to meet Truth.
The only way he seen a way to meet Truth and look past the gate was to perform the forbidden alchemy. Issue is, he would have to give up something and survive the process of looking into the gate. Expect there's a guaranteed way or multiple in his case.
The philosopher stone.
The philosopher stone has multiple ways to go about it. It doesn't make you immortal or anything, well the FM anime one doesn't, and instead is a multiplier to one's skill in Alchemy. The market sells the Fullmetal Alchemist version for a 10k credits. He was surprised that a supposedly guaranteed survival of the gate was so low. A pleasant surprise.
He also was thinking of offering Shuraba. He doesn't know if truth would accept the sword so it's more of a, maybe, type of deal.
With a now a goal in mind to save towards 10k credits, this leads to his first step. Gaining a form of combat alchemy and elemental alchemy.
Combat alchemy like Edward Elric used can't be used without a peek into the gate like when he tried to bring his mother back. He lost his left leg and right arm in the process and in turn can use his will as a substitute for runes and transmutation circles.
Roy Mustang used element alchemy to launch flames in explosive burst by transmuting oxygen and his gloves. His gloves creates a spark with a snap of his fingers that ignites the oxygen to make flames.
Cobalt is gonna do the same but with a different element in mind.
First he checked his closet of common items. His daily rolls landed him with electrician gloves. They were Insulated to prevent himself from frying his nerves. Second, he grabbed a bucket of white paint. Thirdly, a small spool of copper wire. He needed a way for the element to be directed. He thanked his art teacher for teaching his to draw perfect circles for what comes next. He painted two white circles, one outlining the other, on each glove.
"First a way for electricity to be produced. So the rune of for platinum is needed." He mumbled looking over the many symbols of alchemy. With [Analysis] he can understand and comprehend each element symbol shown to him. The rune of platinum is that of the sun and moon, representing gold and silver, positive and negative energy. This will generated electricity in the circle.
He drew it at the top of the circle and circled it with three lines leading to different circles. The circle on the left he drew air, a triangle with a line going across. This tune is for the process of ionizing particles for electricity to travel. In the middle was the symbol for earth, a triangle with a line upside down. This is for the grounding effect of landing on targets or objects. Finally a symbol to the right was iron, the symbol being the male gender sign. The conductor of the whole thing.
He did this for both gloves before he starting setting the copper wire. He cut slits on the back of the fingers small enough for the wires but made sure it's not going to directly touch his skin.
Next was braiding the wire into small twisted pairs for each finger. Thick as a straw, long enough to reach the transmutation circle. Finally for was electrical tape he luckily got to tape them on the gloves. The ends of the wiring poked out the finger tips so he doesn't blow his gloves at the tips. The other ending touching the transmutation circle. "Prototype gloves are done. Time for the first test." He headed outside, to the now open clearing of trees.
The air was still a pleasant spring warmth and held a calm breeze. The trees leaves swayed lazily on branches. Chirping of birds can be heard along with scampering of squirrels.
A bush rustled to his right drawing his attention. A small green slime bounced out and wobbled. Perfect.
"First step, analyze."
This step, also know has the comprehension stage, is to visualize and understand the atomic and chemical make up of material. For electricity it's electrons around the nucleus that are loose, constantly jumping from one nucleus to another. This forms a electric current. A electron is a particle of negative energy that revolves around a nucleus kinda like the satellites or the moon around Earth. Copper is a great conductor as it's a material with loose electrons, as they are pulled and directed easily.
He pictured each electron, revolving around the nucleus in the wires jumping to other nucleuses up to the tip of the wires.
"Now to deconstruction."
This stage is to break now the material using energy. In Fullmetal alchemist they used the energy produced by the Earths crust, the one that create earthquakes and volcanoes from tectonic plates moving, to perform alchemy. He doesn't know if this world as the same effect of tetonic plates sliding or colliding with eachother, but he does have another form of energy.
He breathed in deep to reach into his gut. He imagined a small pool of deep inside in and reach a imaginary hand in it. A tug like feeling bloomed inside him as he grasped his small amounts of mana. He pictured his mana collecting and guiding the electrons to other nucleuses, constantly making them move and produced a electrical current.
"Now reconstruction!"
Final step is to mold the material into what you visualize. This step involves deep understanding of the material your shaping. Cobalt visualized the oxygen in the air that lead to the slime ionizing from his figures tips. The electrons jumping from the wire tips to the oxygen particles that makes up the air.
He clapped.
A smell of ozone permeated the air and a bright flash of light engulfed the area. Cobalt had to blink away the spots in his vision and was dumbfounded.
The wires of his gloves were bursted and destroyed. His gloves keeping the hot wires from touching his hands but were ripped and burnt as well. Looking up the grass was burnt and the slime was exploded into thousands of cooked gel pieces. Some even burning away as he watched.
"That…was a fail." He groaned out and took off the ruined gloves. He felt empty, no doubt his small mana reserves were used up and gone. Terraria's mana replenished quickly thankfully."Well I guess my theory was right. In the game, mana can be used to launched disks of water, balls of fire and beams of light. It can be used as a substitute for a electrical charge. I was only trying to hit the slime, now I gotta clean this up."
He glanced at the charred grass and ground with a grimace. "Thats what I get thinking a week is enough to perform Alchemy."
Good news, mana can be used as a form of universal substitute for elemental material. Roy had to use gloves to make a spark, but he can use mana instead. Bad news, he doesn't have much and he was gonna need better materials to direct it too. His circle also needs work. What he didn't know was behind him, someone was staring at him.
"Um excuse me?"
A small voice sounded out behind him. He turned around to meet a teen with dark green hair, or was it black with green, and green eyes. He noticed the teen had symmetrical diamond shaped freckles.
"You don't have a fetish for disembowelment right?"
"Aah what? O-of course not!"
"Your not gonna try to kill me?"
"What kind of person you take me for!?"
Cobalt sighed in relief and motioned him to the shop. "Lets just say a customer wasn't a good person shown up and did stuff. Come on your probably have questions right?"
"Oh um yes. Is this place some kind of space time quirk? I found a door in my room and it led to here."
Quirk? Oh! Cobalt knows who he is. He's from the Anime My Hero Academia. The first season came out in 2016 but that's all he watched. If he remember correctly, he's quirkless if he were to guess the timeline.
He held the door open and let the boy inside. The teen looked around with big curious eyes, taking in everything around him. Cobalt slid behind the counter and threw his gloves to the side. "Well first things first, welcome to the Shooting Star. A shop in another world."
The kid blinked and stared at him confused. "Another world? As in a pocket dimension or some kind of simulation?"
"Nope. Straight up, no lie, a entire different universe."
"WHAT!? But that's impossible! This looks like a normal forest and store to me!"
"Yet have you looked up the sky?"
The kid sweated and shakily walked to a window. Peering up the sky. His jaw dropped as the usual blue sky is now a myriad of blue, pink and violet, stars still twinkling and visible during the day. "H-how can this be? Isthistheworkofaquirkthatcanmanipulatetheareaaeoundbutadoorappearedinmyroomandledmetothisplacesocanitbe-."
*mutter*
*mutter*
*mutter*
Holy shit can this kid talk. He bet he can rap Godzilla with the same pace and tempo. He raised his hands and clapped loudly breaking the kids word vomit.
"Now that I got your attention. Yes this is another world. The purpose of you coming here is to buy my wares or experience the area around us. You see my wares are so far only sweets and snacks but they have each have special effects. Minor regeneration, ailment cleanse, stamina recovery you name it. Only catch is, you got to buy it with credits."
The kid looked around in awe while writing stuff down on a notebook-where the fuck did that come from? Cobalt swore he had nothing on him other then the clothes he had on. "Thats amazing! How can I get credits?"
"Well there's a couple ways. You can A), turn in your currency for credits. B) around the area there's little slimes and robots you can kill for coins. Copper worth .01, silver 1, gold 10 and platinum is 1000 per credit. I should really update that sign." He mumbled the last part at the end.
In the first two days, Cobalt, Mitsuri and Falco surprisingly, explored the forest a bit. Falco noting that its a far cry of the badlands. Best part to him was it was real and not fake synthetic stuff corpos use.
Mitsuri wanted to keep a slime as a pet but quickly found out they are acidic when one slightly burned her haroi. She sliced it in half and a little ball of gel and a copper coin came out of it. When she turned in the coin, she gotten a penny of credit. Basic math later, he got the gist of value of each coin.
"Lastly is you trade in items for credits. The machine or I can tell how much a item is worth. Any questions?"
"Um yes! First, why did a door appear in my room?"
"Those doors appear where ever they want. I had a customer door appear in their base and one carried theirs to there home. I guess they spawn in areas where people are at." Cobalt said shrugging. He wasn't 100% on it but it makes the most sense.
Th boy scribbled more notes down. "Do you can't control where is appears. Could it be that this world or the store targets certain areas or people?" He mumbled as he wrote his thoughts down.
Cobalt raised a brow. Thats…actually a interesting point. Ichigo and his sisters got a door when he brought it home. From what he told him, no one could see it, human or souls. Ichigo was the main protagonist of Bleach. But why would it bring Elsa? Or…was it for someone else and he was unlucky when she found it first?
"Okay, my next question is, is there a limit to how much I can buy?"
"Nope. While I do have to pay at the end of the month for restock, now that the first month is over, you can buy how any amount as long as you can afford it."
"Thats great! I'm training for the entrance exams of the best hero school in my world! These effect of these sweets will definitely help!" Oh so this is episode 2 maybe 3 of the anime?
"[Minor Regeneration] can't heal you from deep wounds and injuries but soreness and small cuts and bruises will heal up in a faster. I also have drinks that grant [Stamina Recovery] as well."
"Thats perfect! But…I feel like this is cheating. I have to work hard to catch up to others who had all their lives to train and master their powers. Is it really fair for me to use these." The teen excitement shrunk and his insecurities grew.
Cobalt smiled amusedly and tapped the tenn on the head jolting him out a spiral of self admonishment. "Tell you what kid. If you find people trustworthy enough not to abuse my shop, or try to kill me, why don't you introduce them to me? That way you can share this opportunity to others you believe can use the help."
The green teen stared at Cobalt as he reached under and grabbed two watch sticks. "This here is a watch that connects to my shop. Does what normal watches do and them some. I'll give you a second one so you can find someone to buy my wares. That way it won't be cheating if others are buy my stuff too."
He placed the watches into the younger boys hand. The boy held them in his hand before gazing up at him. Cobalt only gave him a grin. "You trying to be a hero right? A hero should use everything they have to give there very best. There maximum one hundred percent. There's a difference between cheating."
He placed a hand onto of the kids head and ruffled it, messing up his already messy curls. "And taking opportunities." He finished pulling back and placing a finger against his temple.
"Got it memorized?
The kid eyes turn misty before giving a determined look. "Okay! I promise to find someone trustworthy to use your shop. I don't have any money on me but I'll come back and trade for some credits."
Cobalt nodded before remembering something. "Oh right, I never got your name."
The kid yelped and quickly gave him a bow. "Oh I'm Midoriya Izuku! It's nice to meet you!"
"Names Cobalt. Yes after the metal. If you ever need to visit this world even to take a break go right ahead. Though try not to come at night. Recently zombies are walking around during that time."
"Zombies!?"
"Yep. By the way, how long have you been training for?"
"O-oh uh. I started a month ago. I have nine months to train for the entrance exam. My trainer is having me move garbage in a polluted beach."
"Nine months huh. How about this. Along with your training you come to this world and fight the little guys here. Slimes and little robots." Izuku only looked at him in confusion. "Getting fit is good and all but your gonna need battle experience right? Around here you can fight basic enemies without being in too much danger. I'll even throw in some recovery items for ya so Incase you get hurt or tired I'll bring you back too 100%."
Izuku put a hand on his chin and gave it some thought. He did get the American Dream Plan from All Might but he had a lot of catching up to do. It wouldn't hurt to accept right? "Um I guess that's fine."
"Great! It'll be nice working with you Midoriya. When you leave the door will be locked until my shop reopens tomorrow. It's so our worlds can link up in time. I'll see you when then alright?" Izuku nodded smiling greatfully.
Cobalt explained the rest of the watched functions and sent him away. It's about five in the afternoon so his usual gang of customers will be showing up. But just as Izuku went out the door, back to his world, it opened again.
Cobalt watched as a small girl with blonde hair in a pink dress look around before spotting him. He noticed her eyes were blue with pink butterfly pupils. She approached him and looked up at him.
"Are you perchance the owner of the glass door, I suppose?"
Omake-Rengoku's Literal Flames
The flame Hashira eye twitched. Every since eating the Mera Mera no Mi he had a slight trouble of not lighting himself on fire. He gave his little brother quite the scare when he lost control and turned his entire body into fire infront of him.
He gotten a better grip on things and felt it slowly become second nature to him as each days passes. Today he was on a mission to kill a demon that's been kidnapping travelers that past through a road by a lake.
Good news he found the demon. Bad news, it's demon art makes it part eel. It's been dragging its victims into the water and eating them on the lake floor.
"Kyaaahahahaha! What's wrong demon slayer? Can't swim?"
Kyojuro swiped at the demon, cutting the front to its neck only for it to slide off its oily skin. The demon quickly dived under water and swam to the center of the lake.
"Ah what's wrong? Can't cut me? You weakling!" The eel demon spat a bullet of water, it blasted through the air but Kyojiro sidestepped it easily. "How cowardly! You hide under the water and swim away when your in danger. The only weak one is you demon!" He said confidently.
The demon only laughed. "So what? I get to live however I please! No demon slayer can fight me under water no matter how strong they are! It's always amusing to watch humans fight to breath before I rip open there throats and watch them drown from themselves! Kyaaaaahahahahaha!"
Viens bulges from the side of his head as his temper rose. How dare this demon kill humans in such a horrible manner. He'll make sure his blade will avenge those who suffered from!
His blade began to heat up and his body started to get warmer. He raised his sword and concentrated. Flames flicked from his arms, traveling and creeping up to his sword. If he looked up he would of noticed the color slowly shifting to a blood red. "Flame Breathing Third Form!"
"Kyahaha-eh? Wait. What is that!?"
Kyojuro glared and in a plume of flames he sliced the space in front of him. "Blazing Universe!"
"WHAT THA-." The last thing the demon saw as a blazing sword before a absolute storm of fire destroyed his entire head and body. The lake erupted in a cloud of steam as the heat and flames met the water surface.
Kyojuro gawked as the lake was water was split, both sides crashing in to fill up the empty space that evaporated from his attack. He didn't mean to evaporate the water! He winced when a small school of fish rose up dead and cooked.
He looked around quickly before booking it back to his estate. It would be said later down in history of a mysterious phenomenon occurred when steam erupted from the lake created rain clouds and made a weeklong rainstorm around the area. Fish were found slightly cooked and dead with no one around knowing why.
Kyojuro when asked would always advert his gaze with a strained smile. "I have no idea why such a thing occurred! It happened after I killed a demon around there so I didn't see anything!"
Tengen gave his friend a deadpan stare everytime. "Your pants are literally on fire." Kyojuro patted the rising flame and glared at Tengen, his smile still up. "I'll give you five credits to keep quiet."
"Deal."
The phenomenon remains unanswered.
