The Ninth Night - Part 3 - The Third Water Creature

The roars did not only came from thunders but also, from Renir's cries.

Both of his feet were mutilated but he still needed to used it to paddle.

Renir desperately swam back to the cliff to regain the ground because he knew that if he continued to eat these water creatures, the legs he lost will heal back.

The unending song of thunders and lightning danced over the clouded sky, because of this, it was as if the moon with its moonlight was back.

Renir furiously swam while searching for the cliff, 'Where is it?!'

He spun his head round and round to see the mountain was about to be completely submerged in the flood!

"This rain is crazy!", Renir shouted but didn't lose hope since he saw the cliff's ground was yet to submerge into the flood.

Hurriedly, Renir paddled his arms. If he can run on water, he will just a bit faster than swimming. However, the huge gap was about the energy they consume.

Renir was already exhausted when he heard the monstrous slime's dashing on the surface of the water!

He looked behind and it scared him so much that he paddled more.

Another problem was that the water creatures can keep up with his pace!

If Renir's body didn't continuously produce new blood from the energy he was incessantly eating, he would've already bled to death a long time ago.

While swimming, he was leaving trails of blood which was greatly dispersed when the Giganslik would dash through it.

'I can do it!', Renir paddled more since the Giganslik was reducing the distance between them.

But in front of him, the immutable mountain was already nearby!

Just a little more and if Renir could dodge at the last minute successfully, the Giganslik will have no time to maneuver enough to avoid the mountain!

However, Renir still doubted that the Giganslik couldn't turn its direction in that distance, and the monster was already behind him.

He gritted his teeth and hoped that it would work. Because of the Giganslik's speed, there was no time for Renir to hesitate, and at the last second, Renir propelled himself to the perpendicular direction.

To be safe, Renir dodged earlier than before.

Surely enough, the Giganslik did not touch him this time. Only the turbulent slightly pulled Renir but greatly for the water creatures.

"HAH!", Renir laughed as he clawed one vampire-like fish to eat before it gets pulled.

He laughed because he was so happy he didn't get hit!

After all, there were no legs to be caught this time.

While celebrating, Renir heard a loud bang that was even louder than the thunders ruling the clouded night sky.

Renir looked and saw that the Giganslik did fail to turn, and as a result, it hit the immutable mountain with an impact that even stopped the monster's destructive movement!

"Ah!", Renir exclaimed as he remembered that he had to beat this Giganslik before it can have the chance to escape!

With his feet growing back, Renir didn't forget the pain but just ignored it. If he used his time to cry about it more, he will just get another.

That was when Renir dashed through the surface of the flood like a merman and jumped onto the monster like a predator!

The Giganslik's membrane was like an elastic skin, so using his metallic claws, Renir ripped it off easily the before, it was just that, it was too thick.

Renir desperately skinned the Giganslik he hated so much. He remembered all the times he suffered under the slime kind.

"My fist broke!"

"I am always getting beaten up then losing consciousness!"

"Blood was always spilling from me!"

"My bones always cracked and shattered!"

"My organs exploded!"

"My skin was always toasted if not ripped off!"

Renir shouted as he ripped the last layer of the membrane:

"I died once, LITERALLY!", he was irrationally angry that he included that didn't have anything to do with the slime kind

Inside the membrane were the rocks and pebbles glued to each other but cracked and crushed from the impact, and Renir unhesitatingly planned to dig it again!

His hand formed a fist and smashed through the crush rocks and pebbles to pulverize it, but that impact made Renir scream in pain.

"AHH!", Renir's hand trembled as he saw his metallic claws pierced through his palm.

'Damn it! Damn it!', he regretted as he thought of retracting the metallic claws and it did.

Renir was about to punch again when the Giganslik "woke up" and moved away from the mountain while Renir rode atop the monster.

Slowly, it regained its speed again but Renir clutched his grip on the torn membrane while his right fist was pulverizing the crushed rocks and pebbles!

However, the monster was still thrice his size and he had to dig that before the Giganslik will eventually regain its speed.

Renir mindlessly dug into the Giganslik body until he realized he was submerged into the flood again...

The Giganslik was getting faster and faster while Renir had his grip weakening because of the water resistance.

'Does this monster has a brain?!', Renir thought because it was now harder for him to clutched onto the Giganslik itself.

The monster dived deep where the pressure is greater, proportionally to the water resistance!

Even with the bright bolts of lightning dancing through the clouded sky, light couldn't reach the deepest part of the flood - an abyss!

Renir couldn't see anything and duck to reduce his surface area. He tightly clutched onto the Giganslik and tried to punch more but it was too hard to create a force enough to pulverize a stone on that condition.

Renir frowned frustratingly and was left no choice but to release his clutch onto the monster and get off it.

He jumped from it and was left swirling on the abyss with no light, the Giganslik left him under there.

Of course, the first thing he needed to do was to resurface.

He swam up with his recovering feet, but because there was no light there, he didn't know which way was up.

But when he stopped, he figured that his body itself was floating up away from the pressure.

'Which means that's where the surface is!', he didn't need to think much about a simple logic but when he was about to get out of the abyss;

He heard a swoosh on the surroundings before his shoulder was pierced by something!

"Blubub!", Renir lost a mouthful of air because of the pain he felt.

The thing or the creature that thrust him continued to push him down while its sharp end was impaling through Renir's shoulder.

In a panic, Renir ejected his metallic claws and thrust it to the creature.

As he pierced deeper, the creature was, at the same time, slowing down until it stopped all its movements and Renir pulled it out from his shoulder the left a small hole.

He was so immersed in pain that he could only think of relieving himself by eating whatever that pierced him, without considering if it had bad effects on him.

If his body was not tough enough, it might've left a bigger hole resulting in Renir's immobility and leave him to die on the abyss.

So Renir mindlessly ate the creature and realized it was bigger than he thought. It took him moments before he finally regained his energy by finishing up the unknown creature.

When he finally retrieved his mind from the pain, he tried not to think about his recovering shoulder. But for a while, he couldn't use his whole left arm.

However, when he thought about it, it was obvious that it was a third water creature that lived in the abyss.

Just from the experience he had, he was sure that the new water creature is like a swordfish. If that was right then he had to resurface as soon as possible!

He let his body float, but his ears twitched and "heard" something approaching. Although it was faint, Renir was able to react and dodge something that he heard swooshed passed by.

It was definitely the third water creature so he wouldn't let it get away. What he needed the most was to recover and gain energy once more.

Abruptly, his right hand tried to grab the water creature with its metallic claw but failed.

Renir was too late to react. But surely, next time, he wouldn't make the same mistake as now.

His ears twitched again so he reactively propelled himself and already thrust his right hand forward. The claws did pierce through the creature that just arrived!

But because of the water creature's momentum, its body was slashed before stopping and getting grabbed by Renir.

If this continued any longer, Renir would lose his consciousness before he could resurface because of the lack of air.

However, nothing really goes Renir's ways as his ears did not only twitched but much more that it looked as if it was vibrating...
