2 Chapter one part two

When you're a child you always rely on your parents to feel better to reassure you that everything is gonna be ok. To supply you with hugs and kisses and right then and there you feel the safest. No monsters can come out of your closet and get you at night as long as your nightlight is around or at least that's what your parents told us. Band-aids make the pain go away, But what do you do when you have none of those coping mechanisms around or do you need them the most, when you're faced with the end and you're all alone? no mommy or daddy to pick you up and shilled you from everything around you. And that's where I am right now. Scared and alone in the darkness surrounded by destruction and death after an unknowingly phenomenal thing happens.

Someone definitely has their hand on my shoulder shaking me as they say my name repeatedly. I can hear Evan Franklin's voice and I'm pretty sure he's next to me. My eyes are open, but my vision is foggy. I try to open my mouth to let him know I hear him. I tried to scream out. I try to make any sound but I'm petrified. Where is my brother, how's my sister and are my parents ok? If this is the aftermath of what happened outside how exactly is everyone who was outside when everything happened.

The thought of my family inspires me to place both hands in front of me and slowly lift myself up. Evan realizes I'm trying to stand and he backs up to give me room. As I stand tall on both my feet I analyze what used to be the Science room around me. Mrs. Blankenship laid unresponsive on the floor. A few kids were digging in the first aid box and bandaging themselves up. Looking up at Evan I notice his face was cut by his eyebrow and his chin. His brown curly hair was a mess and his green eyes looked slightly red from the ash and tears.

"I gotta find Kevin" I mumble my throat dry and soar. I take one stop forward when Evan stops me. He looks like he is going to say something, but I stop him before he can. "I need to find my brother" Evan just nods and let's me pass him.

Outside the classroom the school hallways were a mess. Lockers exploded open and everyone's belongings scattered everywhere. Kids were running around confused and trying to find some kind of safety. As I walked farther down the dark hallway I heard Evan behind me. Was he following me? It wasn't like we were that close of friends; he was just the kid who sits a few seats down from me in Science and I shared two other classes with.

"You don't have to follow me" I mumble, turning left down a hall and jump back as a girl covered in blood comes running past. This was like a horror movie with zombies now. I Really hope that doesn't become a thing.

"I'm Friends with Kevin" Evan mumbles but then coughs and opens his mouth again before placing a hand on my shoulder "your right ear bleeding " I place my hand up to my right ear and feel the wetness was the explosion that loud?

The air smelt smokey and hot. The sun shines its rays though the gymnasium windows lighting up the dark room. Kids were starting to pile into the gymnasium. Word got passed around by Mr.Sutton the school principal that we should all meet in the school gym. So here we are a bunch of scared humans huddled into the strongest building on campus. The gym is full of all sorts of chatter and sobs. I was currently sitting in the first row of bleachers on the left by the grey brick walls of the gym with Evan. Evan was currently counting everyone in the room and I was analyzing everyone's faces looking for my brother in the crowd. The school nurse was busy trying to help some of the kids that were currently in bad shape on the other side of the gym. A few teachers and staff are trying to help.

"I'm going to be traumatized for life" Emily Bufington shouts walking into the gym causing a scene. Behind her was one of her followers Kira who wasn't watching where she was walking as she tried calling her rich dad on the phone. The blonde hazel eyed Emily covered in ash and a Few scratches sits a few feet away from us. She kept looking around like she was lost, but i knew who she was looking for,Everyone knew who she was looking for.

"Attention Please" Mr.Sutton yells trying to get everyone's attention. Lucky for him everyone shut up except for one kid who yells out asking what happened Causing mr. Sutton to gulp. Was he scared to tell us all and send us in a panic? Even though we were already panicking. "I'm not sure. Nobody is sure what happened. We can't Get through to anyone" Mr. Sutton adds before opening his mouth. "But we are going to remain here till Parents come to pick you up. I'm sure they are on their way" He adds before going on about how they will be serving us Lunch in a few minutes.

"I can't eat on a stomach like this" Emily complains to no one in particular. I have to agree I'm not sure I could even stomach food at this very moment.

My Heart flips when the gym doors open twenty minutes after everyone got their meals that the cook scrounged up. There he was, my Brother Kevin with his shaggy long brown hair. He was With a couple other students he looked ruff. He had his gym shorts on and a pullover jacket. His left leg looked a little burnt. Kevin Looks around the gym till he spots me. a smile of relief automatically landing on his face.

"Rue Thank god you're okay" Kevin mumbles, pulling me into a suffocating hug, But i wasn't going to complain. I just needed his comfort in a time like this.
