Third Person POV
"Yoongi?! Are you alright?!" Mrs. Min knocked as she hastily pressed the door's intercom.
"Make sure to catch the intruder. Alive. Run all the security checks," Mr. Min ordered, sternly gripping his wheelchair as his wife pounded on their son's door.
"Yes, sir- team two, review all the footage on the 81st, 93rd, and 100th floor for the past few hours. Report any suspect. The three of you check room to room on the 93rd floor," The chief bodyguard radioed the security team before signaling a few guards to run physical checks on the level.
"Min Yoongi-"
"Why are you so loud?" The door suddenly clicked open, and Yoongi appeared, grimacing at his parents.
Sora's POV
Brief Flashback
"Young Master, please open the door," The guard's voice rang through the door's intercom, and at least five guards were standing right in front of the door. Yoongi averted his eyes towards the screen before glancing back at me. I couldn't even focus. There was too much going on... all I could do was stare at him in disbelief. I knew he was alive, but why do I feel so uneasy...?
"Be quiet," Yoongi warned, gently pushing me against the wall as he unlocked the door.
"What do you want?" Yoongi dawdled at the guards. I stood stiffly against the wall, keeping my eyes trained on him in silence. I'm still in shock. I wanted to see him, but now that he was in front of me- I couldn't even say a single word. I knew he was alive... yet... am I happy, or am I scared? Is it really him?
"A female in a silver dress intruded the 93rd floor, so we'd like to run a quick inspection-"
"No one's here. I was here the entire time. Now get out, go find her," Yoongi demanded sternly.
"Yes, sir," Without a doubt, the guards bowed and rushed off in different directions. Yoongi quickly slammed the door shut and rushed over to his laptop.
"Yoongi-"
"Let me delete the camera footage first. When did you get into the hotel?" Yoongi asked, slamming the keyboards rapidly with his fingers. His eyes were trained sternly on the screen.
"I got to the storage entrance at around 6:30 PM," I whispered, quietly watching him. The room fell hushed so the only sound was the heavy clack clack clack tap- as he furiously searched his screens. After a moment, Yoongi let out a deep sigh in relief. I guess he got rid of the evidence.
"I-I"
"Why on earth did you come here?!" Yoongi snaps angrily, cutting me off before I could even start.
"I just wanted-"
Sora's POV
Present
"Yoongi?! Are you alright?!" A thrilling voice called through the intercom, so I quickly turned to find Yoongi's mother staring at the screen... and right beside her... was Mr. Min... his father... in a wheelchair. My blood began boiling in anger the longer I watched him through the intercom. Abruptly, the dark hollow feelings filled me once again. Kill him, Sora. Kill him now. Breathing heavily, I glanced at Yoongi before averting my eyes back to the intercom's screen.
"Sora- SORA NO!" Yoongi roared as I reached out for the door handle. I'M GOING TO FUCKING STRANGLE HIM! ARGHHHHH! YOU FUCKING DEVIL! I gripped the handle and was about to unlock it when Yoongi firmly wrapped his arms around my body.
"LET ME GO-" I screamed, thrashing angrily in his arms. I won't let it slide! He has to die!
"CALM DOWN! YOU CAN'T DO THIS-" Yoongi gritted, dragging me away from the door and through the living room.
"HE'S A MONSTER- I WILL- AH! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" I yelped in shock when Yoongi pushed me hard onto his bed, pinning my shoulders down. Breathing heavily, Yoongi locked his eyes with mine.
"Do you really think you can kill him right now? You need to worry about yourself! How will you get out of here alive?! Once he knows you're here- you're as good as dead! I can't even protect you!" Yoongi tightens his grip around my shoulder, making me wince in pain. I am burning with resentment, but he's right. I'll drop dead even before I reach his father.
"I-I'm sorry," I gulped, surrendering to him as I lay motionlessly on the bed. Yoongi stayed hovering over me unsurely but quickly scrambled off when I stopped resisting him.
"Don't make any sound. I'll be back," Yoongi warned, walking out of the room, so I sat up with tears in my eyes. I'm the reason his father is still alive. I could've done better. Sora... at least Yoongi's alright.- Hah... alright? He tapped your phone, yet you came running to him- it wasn't entirely his fault! He was drugged! I'm the reason he got dragged into this fucked up society! -
"-Move out of this-" I sucked in my breath when I heard Mrs. Min's voice outside the bedroom's door.
"No, I'm not moving," Yoongi's voice echoed.
"The intruder-"
"Exactly. The intruder will definitely think I moved out of this floor. So if I stayed here, they wouldn't know. I can't run forever. I'm tired of it," Yoongi argued with his mother.
"It's a huge risk-"
"Don't talk about the risks! You injected me with toxic chemicals to get me under control. I almost died! You can't force me to do things against my will! I need time! People already think I'm dead. What will happen to you two- if I'm dead? You wouldn't last, so leave me alone until I'm ready for it! You promised to give me time!" Yoongi roared from the other side of the door.
"F-fine, we'll increase the security levels here-"
"Please, leave. Stop bothering me. I might end up killing myself-"
"MIN YOONGI!"
"Then leave me alone! I need to process everything! Let me breathe!" Yoongi snapped in irritation, and the other side of the door suddenly fell silent. Thud Thud Thud... shuffling of footsteps began to fade from the bedroom door. Soon enough, the entire suite fell silent again. But I was still suspicious, so I quickly tiptoed into the bathroom and hid behind the door. The bedroom door clicked open again, and Yoongi came striding in.
"Are you okay?" Yoongi asked, searching the room for me. I cautiously peeked out from the bathroom to find Yoongi leaning against the door in exhaustion.
"Are they gone-"
"I asked if you're okay," Yoongi sighed, eyeing me apologetically.
"I'm fine," I whispered while biting onto my lower lips. He looks so beaten.
"I'm sorry. I missed you," Yoongi suddenly drew me into a crushing hug. I wanted to push him away at first... until I realized I missed him a lot too and it was very reassuring to have him in my arms again. No, of course not in a romantic way. Yoongi is like a family to me. We understand each other better than anyone else- but we're both caught up in this society. Sure, he committed some pretty fuck up stuff, but that's because he was lost. At the end of the day, the Min Yoongi I know will always be himself. He's just trying to survive, like everyone else.
"What about you? What did they do to you?" I sobbed, cupping my hands around his pale cheeks. I felt really sorry for all the troubles he went through because of me. If only we didn't stand on the opposite sides of this war. Neither of us would be hurt or suffering as much because we'd have each other's back.
"They did horrible things. I found out the afternoon they tried to murder you and tried to warn everyone, but they drugged me and took me away," Yoongi shook his head while rubbing my hands.
"I'm glad you're alive," I smiled as a single droplet of tears rolled down my right cheek.
"As long as I'm alive, you'll always be in danger. My existence causes you pain," Yoongi chuckled sarcastically while rubbing away my tears.
"We'll have to suffer to survive. I can handle it. As long as we're both alive," I shook my head at him.
"I'll always be with you, but I have no control over my life. Not yet. So one day, if I go too far. You'll have to let me go, no matter what. Just like today. Never, ever risk your own life to save mine. Losing your love was hell, but I can't watch you lose your life as well. You have to let me go, Sora. Okay?" Yoongi asked while searching my eyes. His words... struck me so hard- I wanted to burst into tears. But I'm not like that... that's just not me.
"I wish I was the Sora everyone expects me to be. But I, Jang Sora, don't like to have things taken away from me. You are my family, so even if I die, I'll die fighting for you," I smiled, pushing away from him before rubbing away the tears on my cheeks. I'll fight to keep Yoongi alive as hard as I'll fight for Jimin. They're the only ones I have left.
"I don't think you can leave anytime soon," Yoongi sighed, walking over to his laptop.
"I'll find a way out," I sighed, slumping onto the couch.
"You can't. The security level doubled, but I'll figure out a way," Yoongi shook his head while scanning his laptop screen.
"Can I call Jimin? He must be worried," I murmured in guilt. Jimin's pretty occupied right now... I'm sure he already figured I'm missing by now, and he's definitely worried about me.
"All the calls in and out of the hotel are heavily monitored. You can text him. I'll secure a loophole for you," Yoongi nodded at me. I couldn't send a long text because it would be too risky, so all I sent to Jimin was:
I'm fine, trust me. I love you.
I ended up staying hidden at Yoongi's suite for three days and two nights. Yoongi and I shared the food that was brought in for him, and he also lent me his clothes. During the first night, Yoongi let me sleep on the bed alone while he slept on the couch in the living room, but I felt sorry because he was still healing from his wound. So, during the second night, we shared the bed.
Apparently, the Mins drugged Yoongi whenever he threatened to kill himself to ensure Yoongi wouldn't end his life. They drug him, and then they would detoxify his system when he calms down. At first, it was just common drugs, like when I caught him at the club, but Yoongi almost died refusing the pills, so they got him a stronger one- so he couldn't resist the urge. Fortunately, the Mins can't continue drugging him since he's wounded and his body is way too weak for the drugs. And that's mainly why the Mins kept him locked up for over a month to ensure they wouldn't lose control of him. It got me pissed thinking about it. What kind of parents treat their son like this?! He's not an animal or a test subject. He deserves his freedom. My parents are no different either... we're hopeless.
I kept expressing my concerns, so Yoongi assured me that he was working on a plan against his parents. There wasn't much I could do but trust him like I always did. Anyways, Yoongi's supposed to move out of the suite tonight, so most of the security guards will be stationed on a different floor. Yoongi got me a set of night shift attendants' attire to change into, and of course, I can't go around by myself. I hated the idea, but he was the only person to sneak me out- Hoseok. It's always him. I don't trust him- I'll never trust him again, but when it comes to escaping, it's always him. I refused at first, but Yoongi promised Hoseok wouldn't harm me. I mean... Why on earth would I trust a person who tried to blast off my head? But, it was my only chance, so with Yoongi's guarantee, Hoseok's supposed to sneak me out of the hotel tonight.
At around 8:30 PM, Hoseok came to visit Yoongi at the suite as planned. The guards and staff were already shifting onto the 100th floor as Yoongi prepared to leave at 10:00 PM. I tried my best to keep myself under control when I saw Hoseok. If I try to rip him into pieces right in front of everyone, then I'll never make it out alive. He's my only hope, at the moment. I slipped into the staff's uniform and quietly followed Hoseok out of the suite while keeping my head hung low. Yoongi and I didn't even get to say goodbye because it was too risky since the entire floor was filled with armed guards and staff.
Hoseok and I were waiting at the elevator with a few bodyguards. I was so nervous- I began sweating from my palms. Ding. The elevator door slid open, and he made his way inside. I was about to follow him when-
"Hey. Where's your identification card?" An elderly chief manager asked, grabbing my arm to stop me. I was too startled- I unconsciously backed away from her, so she stared at me suspiciously. Sora... don't mess this up if you want to live.
"I-I lost it-"
"What do you mean you lost it?!-"
"I'm in a hurry right now. How long do you plan on wasting my time?" Hoseok blankly dawdled at the chief manager, who immediately gave him an apologetic curtsey.
"I'm very sorry, sir, but we aren't permitted to move around the hotel without an identification card. She has to stay behind. I'll assign you another-" I sharply shot Hoseok a bewildered look. He quickly gulped at me before turning back to the manager. Can I really trust him?!
"No, I'm interested in her. Your young master agreed to let her guide me. Now if you continue to cause unnecessary problems, I'll call him over-"
"I'm sorry. I cannot afford to burden our young master. Have a great night, sir," The chief manager quickly bowed at Hoseok as soon as he threatened to call Yoongi over. I held in my breath and hurried into the elevator. We stood quietly with bodyguards on either side of us, it was tense and awkward, so I'm kinda glad I didn't have to talk to him. Instead of leaving through the main entrance, we left through the private parking lot to avoid suspicion.
"I didn't know you were this stupid to sneak into the Min's hotel," Hoseok scoffed as soon as we got into his lily-scented car. I darted him a sharp glare in return.
"You still have the guts, huh? I might be stupid, but at least I'm not an untrustworthy person," I gritted, letting my hair down in frustration as we took off.
"You know nothing! I had to do it to save myself! Do you think I enjoy blasting off people's heads?!" Hoseok snapped at me angrily.
"I could've helped you!-"
"No, you couldn't have! Your parents are too greedy! They'll cut me loose just like they did to Jimin. The only reason he's still alive is because you're shielding him. I need to secure my immunity in the game, and you can't give me that," Hoseok huffed at me in annoyance.
"So you thought it was right to blast off my-"
"DO YOU THINK I HAD A CHOICE?! I HAD TO SURVIVE, GODDAMN IT!" Hoseok roared violently at me, causing me to shrink back in shock. I wanted to yell back at him, but my sympathy for people got the best of me. He just wanted to live... Sora... are you seriously going to forgive him? -No, I won't forgive him- I'm saying I understand why he did what he did.
"I'll get off here, let me out," I grumpily folded my arms. We'll end up ripping each other's heads off if I stay any longer.
"Fine!" Hoseok snapped without hesitation. The driver stopped just a few blocks away from the hotel, so I quickly scrambled out of the car. At least I'm out of the hell pit. I can find my way back home on my own. Hoseok and I parted ways without another word after the heated argument. Still fuming from the fight, I angrily stomped down the sidewalks and towards the main street since I was in one of the alleys. Most of the stores were closing, so the street was empty. Lost in thoughts, I gradually walked towards the main road a few blocks away, and that's when I noticed someone following me. I quickly glanced sideways, and sure enough- a few hooded figures immediately hid behind a parked truck to my left. Wah... seriously? What sins did I commit to deserve this? I just want a peaceful life!
"Aish... I'm so tired," I whispered, quickening my pace towards the road, but the hooded figures picked up their paces as soon as I started jogging. Fuck... There are at least three people following me! Who are they? Maybe the alphas knew I went missing...? I almost got to the main road when suddenly... a few more hooded figures appeared right in front of the block between me and the road. What a tragic way to die Sora...
"LEAVE ME ALONE!" I shrieked, racing down the alley to my right at full speed, and in response, they began chasing after me. I don't know where I'm heading to exactly- because I kept on shifting from alley to alley. I'M GOING TO KILL WHOEVER IS BEHIND THIS AS SOON AS I FIND OUT. AISSSSH!
"HELP! NO! HELP! PLEASE DON'T GO!" I screamed when I saw a group of people walking past the far end of the alley, but they couldn't hear me. They're too far away. I quickly turned to find two of the hooded figures just a few feet behind me. SHIT. THEY'RE FAST- I NEED TO HURRY-
"ARGHHH!" I yelped in shock when a truck suddenly zoomed past me, sending me onto the jagged ground... a sharp sting surged through my arms...
"ARE YOU CRAZY?! WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOING!" The truck driver cursed as I sat groaning on the ground in pain. My arm... it's bleeding...
"NO- NO- DON'T GO!" I cried in fear when the driver drove off before I could stop him. My heart pounded rapidly against my chest as I got up back to my feet. I'm afraid. I turned to my left, and the alley was empty. Where did they go..??? Sighing, I turned to the right, and my skin almost jumped out of my body. Right in front of me were the hooded figures... about six of them standing just a few feet away from me. They were holding onto crowbars. I couldn't even see their faces because they all wore black masks.
"GO AWAY!" I screamed, rushing down the alley in panic, but before I could get far- one of them caught my arm and tackled me to the ground. OOOW MY BACK! Groaning, I got onto my knees and rubbed my lower left back to ease the pain when they suddenly seized my legs and started dragging me.
"ARGHHH!" I screamed, kicking wildly- sending one of them flying off me, but before I even knew it, another person launched at me to pin me on the ground. I managed to grab a brick and slammed it hard against the head, sending the guy off my sore body. ARGH! MY BODY'S ACHING! I CAN'T FIGHT THEM ALL!
"NO NO NO!!! GET OFF ME!" I screamed at the top of my lungs as they grabbed my arms and legs. I'm starting to lose energy! I was struggling to resist them no matter how hard I thrashed around.
VROOM VROOM VROOM.
A blinding beam of lights suddenly lit up in front of us. I quickly shielded my eyes as the hooded figures turned to stare at the source of the lights. It was blazing brightly at us, so I couldn't see clearly... but there was only one headlight. That's not a car... it's a motorbike... a bike...? I couldn't hear anything but my own heavy breathing as I weakly sat up on the rough ground in discomfort. My visions finally adjusted to the lights, and soon enough... I saw him. The hooded figures stood cautiously watching the tall person hop off his motorbike in his tight pants, leather jackets, and... those... familiar heavy black boots...
Kim Taehyung.
"ARGHHH! GET HIM!" The hooded figures launched at Taehyung at once with the metal bars gripped tightly in their hands, but before they even got to him. Taehyung grabbed two of them and thrust them violently onto the ground before delivering a powerful high kick at another hooded figure's head- sending the person into the wall. In a split second, three of them dropped onto the ground, grunting in pain. The other three tried to attack him from multiple directions, but Taehyung was fast. He struck a hard blow at the person to his left before fiercely back throwing the other guy to his right- slamming him flat onto the ground.
"Come on," Taehyung chuckled lowly at the one remaining hooded figure. He was trembling with a bat held tightly in his hands. Instead of attacking, Taehyung the guy suddenly turned and swung the bat at me. I was too paralyzed to move, so I sat staring at the weapon with my eyes wide open.
THUD THUD THUD.
I forced my eyes shut in fear to expect the blow on my body, but I felt nothing. The alleys grew silent again... all I could hear were low grunts and muffles. I felt a hand on my shoulders, so I flinched in fright, but the person proceeded to wrap his hands firmly around me. Fearfully, I opened my eyes to find Taehyung's usual dull eyes staring into mine.
"Let's go home," He weakly smiled before pulling me onto my feet. The hooded figure got up and hurriedly limped away in fear. I couldn't stand properly, so Taehyung had to stabilize me since my back and arm were aching in pain.
"H-how'd you find me?" I stuttered at Taehyung out of curiosity. If he hadn't found me- I'd be dead by now.
"I have been watching the Mins hotel since you went missing. I knew you were there because no one's as crazy as you to go to a place like that. I saw Hoseok's car leaving a while ago but didn't know you were with him until he called to warn me. He was afraid Yoongi would kill him if something happened to you. So I searched the alley you got off on," Taehyung muttered, placing the safety helmet on my head before tightening the straps around my chin.
"Ah... my back hurts," Taehyung whined, stretching his back in discomfort. He hasn't even healed properly yet... This might worsen his wound.
"You shouldn't have fought with them. Who do you think is behind this?" I asked, getting onto the bike and wrapped my arms around his waist. It's probably Seokjin and Namjoon. Who else would dare to-
"Not the alphas. Just some low thugs trying to kidnap you for money considering their lack of self-defense and fighting tactics," Taehyung shrugged as he started the engine and- ZOOM. We were traveling down the road at the speed of lights again. I leaned against his back, lost in my own thoughts. Hoseok warned Taehyung... if it wasn't for- Sora! Of course, he did what he had to do to keep his word with Yoongi! Don't you dare forgive him!- He doesn't care about you- he betrayed you.
"It's oddly quiet," I whispered, hopping off Taehyung's bike when we got back to the mansion. The entire mansion is weirdly hushed.
"Jimin's worried. He's waiting inside," Taehyung dully nodded towards the mansion's door.
"I'll go see him then," I nodded and was about to walk off but abruptly stopped.
"Taehyung-ah," I exhaled, turning to Taehyung as he took off his gloves.
"Hmm?" Taehyung mumbled, raising one of his eyebrows.
"Thank you. Thank you for saving my life," I weakly smiled at him. Taehyung chuckled and gave me an approving nod, so I turned and walked away. I'm glad Taehyung and I are back on good terms now. Fighting sucks. I pushed the mansion's door open to find Jimin sitting in the living room with his head hung low, but the moment the door flew open, he snapped his head towards me.
"Jimin," I muttered nervously. He's probably mad at me, and sure enough... Jimin had an empty expression plastered on his face. He's really really worried. Ah... I feel bad. Jimin leaped to his feet and quickly approached me... locking his conflicted eyes with mine.
"I'm-" Before I could even finish my sentence- Jimin pulled me into a firm hug. He didn't say a single word but held me tightly in his arms. Usually, I'd relax when he does this, but I can sense the uneasiness for some reason. His muteness is a bit off... something's wrong.
"You can be mad at me-"
"I'm happy as long as you're alright," Jimin sighed, pulling away from me to place his right palm against my cheek. He tried to smile, but I could see the pain in his eyes. He's upset... yet he smiled for me anyways. Now I feel terrible. I'm such a bad person. Why does he have to smile at me like that in this situation?
"Don't be like this. I know you're upset...," I whispered, placing my hand on his as he shakily caressed my cheeks. He's trying so hard to hold it in... it's tormenting me. Jimin stiffly shook his head at me, but his lips were trembling in frustration. He's even more upset than I thought he was. Sora... you're a pain in the ass.
"What's wrong with your arm???" Jimin suddenly froze in his place when he noticed the bloodstains on my shirt just as Taehyung came striding into the living room.
"I-I'm fine, don't worry. Look, I need to tell you something-" I shrugged, brushing it off cluelessly.
"Sora, what happened?" Jimin questioned, grabbing my arm, but I pulled it away while exchanging nervous glances with Taehyung.
"It's just a scratch. Listen to me. Yoongi, he's alive-"
"Sora, you need to get it treated. Tell me what happened-" Jimin insisted with a startled expression.
"No, Jimin. It's nothing. What's important is that Yoongi is alive, and so is his father. The Min's locking him up because they can't drug him anymore since he's too weak- and- and Hoseok he's-"
"-Sora. What. Happened. To. Your. Arm?!" Jimin seethed impatiently in a slow and low tone. Baffled by his continuous interrogation, I paused to stare at him unsurely. Whatever I said didn't seem to go through him. Why isn't he paying attention to what I said??
"I told you it's just a scratch- it's no big deal- don't worry!-" I whined, pulling my arms away from Jimin's grip and was gonna explain to Jimin about Yoongi's condition when Taehyung suddenly walked over to us.
"Sora, I think Jimin needs-"
CRASH.
My head snaps towards Jimin in extreme shock. I was paralyzed, so I stood in my place... frozen by the sudden impact. I couldn't process what I was witnessing, so my eyes slowly trailed to the flower vase... completely shattered on the marble floor. Then to the sharp shards of the glasses scattered all over the place... to the flowers lying hopelessly in the puddle of splattered water.... and finally to the red streams rolling down Jimin's forearm. Blood. He's bleeding. Why did he punch the vase...?
Bewildered by his sudden outburst, I averted my eyes to Jimin to find him fuming red in rage. His eyes were burning into mine... veins were forming along his neckline and forehead as he clenched his fists with all his might. And for the first time... I was frightened. I didn't know what to do but stared at Jimin with my eyes wide open. I've never seen him... this... angry. I never knew he was this scary when he's upset. He was a whole different person... all these times, I thought I knew him... I doubt it now. Maybe I'm not even close to understanding him... because the usual cheerful Jimin was gone. He's nowhere to be found. Does he even exist? Was it just a persona to cover his real character? The entire room fell silent as I stood staring at him... lost in my own thoughts.
Park Jimin is an alpha, after all... just like everyone else. He glowed dark and dangerously... as if he's ready to shred me into pieces with his bare hands... but the thing was... the thing that scares me the most is that...
His ravaging darkness seems to be more vicious and threatening than any other alphas...?
How's that possible...? He was always so innocent... yet here he is... looming over me so monstrously...
