The battle was over, and in response to the explosion, Misty released her Pokémon to use Water Gun and extinguish the flames.

The explosion had been quite large, and it could have caused a forest fire if left unchecked.

"Miss Melanie, are you all right?" Brock hurried to Melanie's side and asked with concern.

"I'm okay, thanks to you all. If you hadn't come back in time, I really don't know what would have happened." Melanie was still shaken, glancing at the Pokémon around her, but she was immensely grateful to Ash and the others.

Everyone then helped Melanie clean up the area around the wooden house. As for the wreckage of the massive machine, there wasn't much they could do, so they decided to have someone from Melanie's village handle it.

"It's getting late, and since everything's settled, we should get going!" After cleaning up, Ash recalled Gyarados and said goodbye to Melanie once more.

Although Brock felt a bit disappointed, he kept quiet about wanting to stay. Just as they were about to leave, Melanie suddenly stopped Ash.

"Ash, wait a moment. If it's possible, please take this little one with you!" Melanie looked at Bulbasaur beside her, then picked it up and turned to Ash. Despite her reluctance, her resolve was clear.

The group was briefly stunned. Ash looked at Bulbasaur, who in turn was gazing back at him.

"Miss Melanie, what are you saying? Isn't Bulbasaur the guardian here? If it leaves, who will protect this place?" Brock asked, concerned after hearing Melanie's words.

After what had just happened, Brock felt someone still needed to protect the area. He even considered staying himself, but Melanie smiled and shook her head.

"No... this little one shouldn't be the guardian here."

"If it stays here, it'll only become like a frog in a well, never growing beyond this place."

"I believe only a Trainer like Ash can help it grow stronger," Melanie said sincerely, looking at Ash.

"What about the Pokémon here?" Misty asked curiously.

"In truth, most of the Pokémon here have already finished their treatment, but they're reluctant to leave because life here is so comfortable. They've been hurt by the outside world."

"But what I realized today is that this place isn't as safe as I once thought."

"I'll continue to care for Pokémon in need, but once they've recovered, I want them to return to where they belong." Melanie glanced at the Pokémon around her, with deep sadness in her eyes.

She was reluctant, of course, but she knew it was necessary. If a situation like today's ever happened again, she wouldn't be able to protect all these Pokémon.

She wanted Bulbasaur to protect them, but if an even stronger enemy appeared, Bulbasaur would give everything to defend them. She didn't want to witness that kind of battle.

So, no matter how hard it was, she'd made up her mind: once the Pokémon recovered, they needed to leave.

Pokémon need to grow in the wild, and challenges are a part of that growth. She couldn't let them remain sheltered here forever; it would only hurt them in the end.

As for Bulbasaur, if it had been her own Pokémon, it might be different. But she had no right to make a wild Pokémon give up its chance to grow and stay behind to protect others.

The best future for Bulbasaur was to be with a Trainer like Ash, someone who could help it reach its full potential. That was why she was asking Ash to take it.

"Then it's up to Bulbasaur to decide."

Ash didn't say much, instead turning to Bulbasaur. He always believed Pokémon should have a say in their own destinies, so he looked to see what Bulbasaur would choose.

Bulbasaur let out a cry in Ash's direction. Brock and Misty weren't sure what it meant, but Melanie, who had spent so much time with Bulbasaur, smiled and said,

"It says it's willing, but if you want to be its Trainer, you'll have to prove your strength."

Melanie translated Bulbasaur's response and, knowing its personality well, felt confident that Ash would be fine. Bulbasaur was just a bit arrogant—she believed that even if Ash lost, Bulbasaur would still choose him in the end.

"I won't refuse any challenge," Ash said with a smile. It was just like in the anime, but Ash welcomed the opportunity. After all, capturing Bulbasaur was definitely a good thing.

Once both sides agreed, they backed up to create some distance. Bulbasaur, filled with fighting spirit, jumped forward to face Ash. Ash glanced at Pikachu.

Though Grass-types had a clear advantage over Electric-types, Brock and Misty weren't worried. They knew Ash too well to be concerned about the type disadvantage.

Bulbasaur would rely on its own strength, while Pikachu had the benefit of Ash's command. Ash looked at the determined Bulbasaur and smiled.

"Bulbasaur, let's do this!"

Bulbasaur cried out in response and charged directly at Pikachu, moving with strong momentum.

"Nice speed! Pikachu, use Quick Attack!" Ash ordered, a smile still on his face.

Pikachu dashed forward, silver flashes surrounding it as it sped toward Bulbasaur. Both Pokémon approached rapidly and collided head-on.

Boom!

With a powerful impact, both Pokémon were knocked backward by the sheer force of their Tackle. As they skidded back, Bulbasaur quickly gritted its teeth and stabilized its stance. Sinking slightly, it unleashed a barrage of green, spinning blades from the seed on its back.

Upon closer inspection, the blades were sharp leaves—Bulbasaur's Razor Leaf attack, a classic Grass-type move.

"Pikachu, use Iron Tail to knock them down!" Ash shouted, ready for the counter.

"Pika!" Pikachu responded, charging forward with a metallic gleam on its tail. Its eyes locked onto the incoming Razor Leaf.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Pikachu swung its tail with precision, deflecting each blade with ease. The shredded leaves scattered to the ground, leaving Bulbasaur momentarily stunned by Pikachu's swift response.
