20. Test result

It was a new day, and today they would be getting the test results! Of a drug test… While they both had never tried drugs…

Paige didn't even attempt it in her last life. But they would pass this test today, and it was the first test they had passed. Paige had the inkling that it would be the last one for her, as she was really a poor student.

So, it was truly a day to be happy. When she went downstairs with messy hair, she saw Lance at the door, receiving a parcel.

"So soon?" She asked, knowing that he had just purchased the items yesterday evening.

"Morning. If you pay extra, they deliver it before work/school!" He looked super excited.

"Good morning to you too! Today, we will get our test results!" She announced happily.

"On the second day of school?" The delivery guy asked.

Paige and Lance exchanged a look and both nodded proudly.

She said,

"Yes!"

"And we did really well." Lance crossed his arms.

"Congratulations! You are smart siblings."

"Yup!" Paige agreed and headed to the kitchen to grab herself a coffee. But then she thought she should skip coffee in the future because it literally messed with her heart, and she was already excited enough today.

So she grabbed hazelnut milk and sighed in satisfaction after a few sips.

Lance had already signed for the delivery and ran upstairs; after a few minutes, he came down again with his blazer buttoned up. A bit of a black collar peeked out.

"No white school uniform shirt?"

"Just wait a bit and you'll see it; it's a surprise shirt just for today." His eyes sparkled, finally resembling a sixteen-year-old boy.

"Okay, I'm eagerly waiting." Paige smiled and noticed he already had bright blue sneakers on his feet with a prominent brand on them.

"Very chic. I don't know if the school allows that, but just do your thing."

"Let's go!" Both headed to the door together as if it were natural.

"Wait, we can't go together, right?" Paige asked.

"Ooooh yes. Ask the system."

The system's answer confirmed,

[It is allowed. But the male lead has to be unwilling.]

"Clarify that," Paige said aloud, noticing Lance raise his brow in question.

[The male lead's documents state that he lives in an apartment in this building under his name. Paige lives here too. If Paige encountered her crush, she would pester him on the way to school, despite the male lead being unwilling.]

"Can I tell him that?" She asked; solely out of spite, she would ask the system for confirmation each time.

[...Yes.]

"We can, but I'm pestering you, so look annoyed with me."

He made an 'OK' sign, and they went down together.

In the morning, it wasn't too hot, making it pleasant to walk. On the way to school, he looked grumpy; finding this play funny, his lips constantly twitched upward.

It didn't help that Paige could laugh all the time because it aligned with her character. So, she laughed at him for being unable to laugh, which made him want to laugh even more because he couldn't.

His face was already red from holding back when they arrived.

Dutifully, they had gotten there half an hour before school started.

The hallways were empty, which felt nice, not being constantly surrounded by teenagers.

When they reached the principal's office, they knocked and entered.

Jace was already there, accompanied by a fat, short boy.

The principal was seated at his desk, holding the sealed test results in his hand. After nodding at everyone, he opened them. It was nearly a ceremonial procedure.

The principal recited:

"There have been no drugs found. Both of them are clean and have never consumed drugs before."

Before all eyes could wander to Jace, Lance fake-coughed and removed his blazer.

On his black shirt, the words in Times New Roman font read: 'Not addicted but addictive.' With an arrow pointing toward his pants.

"Pffft. Hahahahahaha." Paige tried to stifle her laughter, but she could not win against the shirt.

The principal felt a strange twitch in his left eyelid, and the chubby, short boy cleared his throat repeatedly, trying to control his expression.
