11. Seatmate

Eve complained; Natasha was sitting in the principal's office motionlessly, and Lance was leaning against the closed door with his arms crossed.

After what felt like an eternity, the principal asked Natasha,

"Do you want to call the police?" He had grown tired of this school bully long ago. Even though he had protected her in recent incidents, he couldn't do more for her without losing face. He couldn't allow himself to be used by a fifteen-year-old girl.

However, if the police were involved, he wouldn't know what to say to Paige's parents, and the school would suffer a damaged reputation.

"No, nothing has happened to me, so it's fine," Natasha replied, glancing at Lance. He was genuinely good-looking, with his light eyes and pale skin; his hair was dark and thick, slightly falling over his eyes. He resembled a bad boy.

When Eve heard this, she formed a negative impression of the girl. Here she was, fighting for justice, while the victim didn't even care. Exasperated, she grabbed her school bag after provoking the towering Lance with her gaze. Eve then walked to her classroom after he stepped aside and let her through.

The principal let out a sigh of relief.

"Good, then go to the school nurse if you're not feeling well. If something like this happens again, come to me; I will talk to Paige."

Thus, they left the office; Lance was never even asked if he had witnessed anything, as he was apparently there for his presence only.

The headteacher assigned Natasha and him to a class and escorted them there. Upon opening the door, he spotted Paige immediately; she had changed out of his blazer and was wearing her own, which had been in her school bag.

She looked boredly at their entrance and nodded at him ever so slightly. She sat in the middle aisle, in the second-to-last row. The only available seats were beside her and in the last row on the right, where a petite girl with two pigtails was sitting.

As he introduced himself curtly with his name, the girls stared at him, awestruck, and whispers were heard. He thought he saw Paige roll her eyes for a moment and tried to hold back his laughter.

When Natasha introduced herself, she received the same reaction from the boys.

'Truly a golden couple.' Paige thought. She didn't know how to handle the upcoming situation.

Originally, the two of them hadn't come this late and could sit together. But this time, because of Eve and the principal, they arrived so late that there weren't enough seats.

While the teacher looked a bit lost about where to place them since he didn't want to seat either of them with the school bully, the little girl with pigtails stood up.

"You two want to sit together, right? Because... both of you are new, right?" She eagerly nodded to herself and sat beside Paige.

'I don't remember her character.' Apparently, the plot was at work. Now that the problem was solved for her, she chose to sleep at her desk.

After being nervous all night and in the morning, she began to relax. Until now, the teenagers had stayed away from her, and nobody had gone crazy trying to bite her or pull her hair.

The others in class hadn't expected anything else from her, because although Paige, the bully, was sleeping every now and then and not listening to the teachers, her character was designed to be highly intelligent, and she had ranked in the top 5 in every exam.

But that was the old Paige, and the new Paige had been a bad student since she was young and had left school long ago.

Even if threatened with losing a finger again, she could never claim first place, or second place, or even hundredth place.

It was time to let the intelligent school bully become a dumb school bully.
