The red banner disappeared in an instant. Allen quickly channeled his magic, curving his thumb and forefinger slightly, and traced a triangle in the air before him.
Quen Sign.
A pale golden glow instantly enveloped his body.
In the next second:
Boom!
The cave roared as if it were about to collapse, and debris was hurled into the air. This was already Allen's third time experiencing a Conjunction of the Spheres. Before he came here, he had already devised a method to deal with the tremors caused by the Conjunction.
In the narrow passage, his body moved rhythmically with the tremors, crouching and dodging like he was surfing, absorbing the shocks from the earth. At the same time, his eyes were fixed on the area beside him. The bloody ritual circle was shrouded in a layer of misty purple light, remaining unscathed amid the earth's fury.
"It really works!" Allen sighed in relief.
This was an alternative use of the Yrden Sign , fixing inanimate objects near the magic circle.
In the novels, Geralt had hidden inside the stone coffin of a Bruxa, relying on the Yrden Sign to keep the coffin steady and avoid being overturned by the creature's immense strength. This allowed him to meditate until morning and lift the Bruxa's curse.
When considering that the tremors might destroy the ritual circle, Allen had tried the same approach, albeit with a mindset of trying anything in a pinch. To his surprise, it worked. However, even if Yrden hadn't worked, it wouldn't have mattered.
The Drowner King was an old friend of Allen's.
He had many ways to entertain his guests, but using the ritual was the fastest and most convenient way to delve deeper into the "Flesh Giant's" abilities.
[Ding! Conjunction of the Spheres — Drowner Completed!]
"Gu-laa—"
A furious roar echoed from within the cave.
"Gu-laa?"
Does the Drowner King have a dialect or an accent?
Allen was stunned for a moment and looked toward the sound inside the cave.
What the heck!
It's not the Drowner King!
In the dim cave, a black vortex with rotating fiery edges appeared. A monster was slowly being squeezed out of the vortex. Its hair was like seaweed, and its face resembled a human's.
Its entire body was gray-green, with webbed arms like those of a human and a thick, serpent-like tail at least three meters long.
Is this... a Naga?
Allen was momentarily bewildered, then immediately performed an identification.
[Name: Bog Nymph]
[Level: 31]
[Attributes: Strength? Agility? Constitution? Perception 19, Mystery?]
Bog Nymph?
Although its face looked somewhat human, its prominent cheekbones and gray-green complexion made it look like a demon. Who would believe this creature is a nymph?
And what's going on with this identification skill?
It's already at LV2, but it only shows the level and a bunch of question marks for the attributes?
After grumbling internally for a bit, Allen pondered for a moment. Although it's at level 36, considering the negative effects following the Conjunction of the Spheres... it's beatable!
Even though he had already assessed his chances of winning, Allen remained cautious.
Given the monster's size, it's understandable that its Strength, Agility, and Constitution couldn't be assessed, but even its Mystery attribute couldn't be identified...
Does this mean that the Bog Nymph, like the Drowner King, also possesses some kind of magic?
Boom!
The Bog Nymph was finally spat out of the vortex and slammed onto the ground, raising a cloud of dust. Its screams ceased.
Allen knew the monster was now in at least two minutes of vulnerability due to the "Conjunction of the Spheres" stun and rigidity. The time for the first strike had come!
He quickly gulped down a prepared "Cat's Eye Potion".The dark cave instantly lit up. The edges of the rocks glowed softly, and the Bog Nymph stood out sharply in his vision, as if it had been sharpened.
Allen's focus also improved due to the potion's effect. However, he had no time to think about the potion's special effects.
"Kwa-la~ kwa-la-la~ kwa-kwa-la..."
Barely audible incantations quickly flowed from his lips. In just a few seconds, a two-finger-wide, blue-glowing ice spear appeared in Allen's right hand.
After his Mystery attribute and Water Element affinity had improved, the ice spear's width and the brightness of its glow had significantly increased. And because he shortened the casting time, this wasn't even the ice spear's maximum power. His right hand steadily aimed at the stunned and defenseless Bog Nymph lying on the ground.
Immediately after:
[Monster Hunt]
The dust particles in the air became clear. Allen focused on the moment when the Bog Nymph's tightly shut eyes twitched slightly.
Instinctively:
Whoosh!
The ice spear sliced through the air, instantly piercing through the eyelid and embedding itself into the Bog Nymph's right eye.
A transparent, gelatinous fluid mixed with a few strands of greenish fibers seeped out of the small hole.
"Gu-laa—"
Another deafening howl of pain echoed through the cave. Amidst this roar, Allen quickly drank a vial of 'Drowner Heart Essence' to restore his stamina.
Immediately after:
He dashed to the center of the 'Flesh Giant' ritual and knelt down.
"Bone and flesh grant me rebirth, blood grants me strength..."
The eerie, mysterious chanting began again.
Within ten seconds:
The minced flesh and bone powder quickly adhered to each other, and a blood-soaked Flesh Giant once again emerged in the cave. The giant clenched its fist, the surging sense of power identical to before.
"No problems!"
"Everything is going according to plan!"
Clang!
The giant drew Elsa, turned around, and charged out of the passage. At this moment, the Bog Nymph was still clutching its eye and wailing. Its massive serpent tail, driven by the intense pain of losing its eye, wildly lashed at the stone walls and floor.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The dull thuds echoed as debris flew in all directions, mingling with the dust. The tip of the serpentine tail even whipped through the air with afterimages, the constant "pop" of air explosions resounding through the cave.
Just as Allen entered the cave and witnessed this scene, his caution heightened. If that tail struck him, even with the Flesh Giant's shell for protection, Allen wouldn't come out unscathed. However, he had no intention of backing down.
Taking advantage of the Bog Nymph's pain and distraction, unable to locate its enemy, Allen swiftly moved to its blind right side, using the dust and crashing sounds as cover.
He stared at the wildly flailing tail, and a thought flashed through his mind. Then:
[Witcher Hunt]
Sweep!
Slash!
Squelch!
In a flash of silver light:
Under the influence of his strength, now more than 50% stronger than before the ritual, Elsa unleashed her true power. The sword cut through the serpent tail, which was even thicker than the silver blade's length, as if it were a hot coal on snow. In an instant, the blade sank in!
With a single stroke, the tail was severed into two halves.
The severed half of the tail, still not realizing what had happened, continued to twitch and slap the ground.
A dark green blood spurted from the cut, filling the small cave with a pungent, strange fragrance in an instant.
[Monster Hunt] progress 65%
"Sweet!"
With just one strike, more than half of the Monster Hunt progress was achieved. Even in the calm state of Monster Hunt, Allen couldn't help but feel a sudden sense of euphoria.
"Gu-laa—"
The Bog Nymph's wails grew even louder, its voice reverberating through the cave walls. Its remaining left eye opened, the serpent's pupil filled with dark green blood vessels glaring at Allen, overflowing with hatred. It struggled to rise. But the severed tail couldn't support it.
So…
Gu-laa! Gu—
The eerie chant with strange rhythm echoed in the cave.
