"Don't you have anything to say?" Medici stared at the firstborn of God before him. He had thought he knew Him well, but now Medici realized that perhaps he never truly understood Adam.
"I simply made the necessary choice. For this era, Alista Tudor becoming the Blood Emperor is the best answer."
Adam clearly felt no guilt whatsoever for selling out Medici. After all, He was just a godly being devoid of emotions, so Adam merely stated the facts, "In fact, if I hadn't been prepared, you wouldn't have even kept your soul. You should have died completely in that ritual."
"Should I thank you then?" Medici's words were dripping with anger, but He restrained Himself from acting because Medici knew that in His current state as just a Sequence 2, He wouldn't be able to win.
"No need to thank me. I'm just doing what I should." Adam spoke lightly, still smiling. His smile even seemed gentle.
"Ha, you really have gone mad," Medici sneered, looking at Adam.
As an onlooker, Lynn couldn't help but glance at Medici, trying to discern His emotions.
Lynn had always been curious about one question: did Medici really not notice that Adam was essentially the Divine nature of the Ancient Sun God?
After all, this was Medici, a top Sequence 1 who was extremely sensitive to emotions and incredibly intelligent.
Now, having observed the interaction between Medici and Adam up close, Lynn understood.
Medici might have had some vague suspicions but rationally refused to acknowledge it. Without concrete evidence, He suppressed this possibility deep within His heart.
Or perhaps, Medici was instinctively rejecting that possibility.
After all, if Adam was indeed the Ancient Sun God, everything He did to Medici, who still remained loyal to the Ancient Sun God, would be utterly devastating.
'So, why such loyalty? The Ancient Sun God is already dead. Can't we just move on and take care of ourselves? Even if we can't let go of old feelings, we can still be allies!' Lynn sighed inwardly.
True gods or not, Adam really shouldn't be trusted for loyalty.
Mutual help as allies would be so much better.
Lynn gave Medici a look of disappointment, and when Medici finally noticed and looked back at Him, Lynn shifted His gaze to Adam and smiled, "Call me Libert. After all, that's the identity I'm using now."
This was in response to Adam's initial question.
Then, still smiling, Lynn said, "Adam, I'll call you Adam. Are you here to stop me from taking Medici away?"
Though smiling, Lynn's smile lacked much emotion, and His tone, while still gentle, carried a hint of danger.
Today, He could beat one or beat two.
Beating the King of Angels was easier than beating a Sequence 0.
"I'm not here to stop you. I know I can't stop you." Adam spoke, clearly understanding the situation, and said, "I'm here to help you."
"Help?" Lynn raised an eyebrow.
"I can help Medici escape from being an evil spirit, stabilizing His mind and spirit. You know that even though He has incorporated a Weather Warlock's characteristics, He's still more insane and prone to losing control than a normal angel. This is the hidden danger of His fall into becoming an evil spirit." Adam spoke calmly, as if Medici's fall had nothing to do with Him.
"Is this crocodile tears?" Medici smirked, mockingly.
Lynn gently pressed down on His troubled brother's shoulder to soothe Him, then looked at Adam and said, "What do you want in exchange for this help?"
"Alista Tudor still needs to exist." Adam said unhurriedly, His golden eyes watching the two before Him, "I hope you don't directly attack Him. You weren't planning to kill Him directly anyway, so this should be an acceptable condition for you."
Lynn squinted, not agreeing or disagreeing, but asked, "So according to you, if Tudor attacks me first, I should just let Him?"
"If He attacks you first, the agreement is null and void." Adam's expression remained unchanged. After a pause, He added, "Similarly, actions like not seriously injuring Tudor, just beating Him up, are also fine."
"I just need Him to stay alive for now." Adam said, then looked at Medici, "As for later, do as you wish."
"Tsk, Tudor should really hear what you're saying now," Medici sneered.
"We've always had a relationship of mutual exploitation." Adam said calmly, finding nothing wrong with this. He then looked at Lynn and asked, "Do you accept this deal?"
Lynn rubbed His chin, looking at Medici and then at Adam. After a couple of seconds, He asked, "Can you perfectly repair Medici's soul?"
"I can indeed do that," Adam nodded slightly.
"This is a tough decision..." Lynn rubbed His chin again, then looked at Medici and asked, "What do you prefer? For me to fight Tudor for you, or for your spirit and mind to be repaired?"
Medici frowned slightly. After half a second, He looked at Adam and laughed, "Make the deal with Him."
"Are you sure?" Lynn sensed Medici might have some ulterior motives.
"I'm sure," Medici nodded.
"Alright then," Lynn nodded, respecting Medici's wishes. He then looked at Adam and said, "I can agree to your terms—not to seriously injure or kill Tudor. But I must be present during the entire healing process. If you fail to fulfill your promise or try any tricks, I will kill you."
As He spoke this last sentence, Lynn raised His gaze and met Adam's golden eyes. For the first time, the always-joyful eyes showed clear killing intent.
"I won't do that," Adam replied, His golden eyes still devoid of emotion, but His tone was very firm.
Author's Note: Adam helping Medici survive as an evil spirit is just a personal touch since the original didn't explicitly state this.
