Assassination (4)

The knights had stared at this strange thing(turbine) until they had satiated their eyes, right now, many of them had assembled in front of the door of the warehouse while telling each others stories.

However, just a little far away after the assembled knights, the assassin could see his target.

Virtya had spread down a sisal mat and instead of sleeping on it, he was meditating. His back faced the door of the warehouse and the assembled knights. However, what spooked the assassin was the girl that was facing Virtya. This girl had also closed his eyes and just like Virtya, she had sat meditatively on the mat while facing the door of the warehouse and the assembled knights.

'This!' The assassin almost lost his composure but he collected himself and calmed down.

'She is just a girl. Nothing to be afraid of.' The assassin pacified himself before he shifted his glance towards his target who was Virtya.

"Hey you! Who are you and where are you going?" One of the knight from the assembled crew asked the assassin who was now trying hard to hide his face from the illumination of the torches.

The assassin stopped on his tracks and he didn't turn back as he pondered if he should answer the question or run with a swift motion towards his target and finish it all. He wanted to run and finish it quick but when he peeked at the girl once more, he rejected the idea and while still hiding his face from the illumination, he turned to face where the voice was coming from with his head lowered, he then answered in a barely coarse voice that he had heard one of the patrolling knights using.

"The kitchen... My stomach is empty. I will also check the storage rooms to see if there's a mice in hiding... You know that stuff..." The assassin fumbled around with a straight face before he quickly turned to face his target so that no one among the assembled knights found an anomaly in his guise.

"Oooh geez! Let him go. That is the vexing Davydov. He is too gluttonous. I will never in my lifetime allow such a dick to accompany me to any parties, lest I became embarrassed because of his gluttonous nature."

Just like that, the assassin smiled and slowly by slowly, he moved to inspect the storage rooms on the left side one by one. He was not in a hurry. He wasn't agitated, he was nonchalant as if he was strolling in his own backyard.

Step by step, the assassin walked. He was not interested in inspecting the storage rooms on the right side as all that he wanted was to reach at the far end of the corridor where his target was.

Tap! Tap! Tap!

As the assassin continued to inspect the storage rooms, a slightly scrawny knight could be seen coming his way, this knight was not inspecting the storage rooms and his gait was quick as if he wanted to confirm something from the fake knight(assassin).

At the corner of his eyes, the assassin could see him. However, he didn't panic because it had only remained two storage rooms and then the assassin would be closer to Virtya.

His hands trembled a little and even if some mud could be seen on his face and hands, no one bothered because everywhere around them, it was dominated by mud and marsh therefore, the assassin's appearance could be justified.

At last, the assassin opened the last door of the storage room and right then and there, the knight with the questioning look was two metres away from him but in front of him, Virtya was just a metre away from him.

At this time, Virtya who sat meditatively was wearing a hood and a linen trousers. He was barefooted but he had covered his head with the headcover of the hood.

Because of the tense atmosphere, the assassin didn't dare to wait any longer and he got out the sword from the scabbard in his waist and with a swift motion, he made a slash movement but just at that very moment, the girl who had been closing his eyes opened them as if she had not been sleeping or absentminded.

She gripped the glaive beside her and slashed but she was too late this time round. When Tanya's glaive was about to meet the assassin's sword, his sword deviated midair from its path thus missing the inevitable parry.
