The Difference Between Hunters and Predators

Ennis, the sole leader of the Vultures, was captured along with some of his followers as they tried to flee the church. This time, when he saw the bandana that matched the one people from Teddy's group had recovered from the hospital rubble, he knew he didn't need explanations.

All these people, the ones who attacked them, were from the same group as the helicopter shot down by Malvin. He knew it; all these people came to kill them, and what puzzled him was that he was still alive.

But soon those words were answered when the convoy he was traveling in slowly stopped at a private school. The walkers had been killed off, and occasionally the sound of a sniper settled on nearby rooftops, picking off walkers who approached the school.

The cars soon parked, and men dressed in gray combat uniforms got out of the vehicles and pulled out around eleven people. They all had a cloth bag over their heads, completely obscuring the view of the vultures.

"The others were killed; we took things from the church and came straight here," Stuart said as he looked at Dominic, then signaled for the people behind the kneeling vultures to remove the cloth bags covering their faces.

Upon hearing Stuart say that all the other vultures were killed, Dominic nodded and remained silent. Not everyone who had come to Texas was in the same place; after long consideration, Madison agreed to join his people with the sole purpose of participating in what they were about to see; they wanted to know how Dominic's group worked, so they were in this abandoned school.

Now, the surrounding area had been cleared of walkers, and many other soldiers were currently taking care of eliminating any figures that posed a threat to the safety of the people inside the abandoned school. After all, Dominic wanted to know the truth tonight to end this as soon as possible.

The sudden glare of spotlights shining intensely in their faces caused the kneeling vultures on the ground to close their eyes for a while, dazzled by the light that reached their eyes.

Just as these people were regaining their sight, Dominic silently observed them and paced back and forth while giving Alicia a silent look, who had insisted on coming.

"I have good news and bad news that could disturb your last moments alive. I'll start with the good. You can all live if you cooperate and answer what you're asked. The bad news is, you could die at any second during this conversation."

"But before I ask you a special question, I want you to hear why we're gathered here today. You need to know why my people massacred your group almost entirely. Everyone will need to know what happened."

"Aren't you thieves?"

Dominic turned and fixed his gaze on a young woman who didn't seem old enough to be in this group of wretches; then again, who really wants to belong to a certain group of people?

Smiling slightly, Dominic snapped his fingers and said, "It seems like you're not understanding. We don't want the little shit you hoard in your shelter. Don't you think bigger than this?"

"Your group, the Vultures, attacked a helicopter from my community that was simply exploring. Although it's very likely people died in the crash without your intervention, a group of idiots decided to shoot hundreds of bullets at them."

After saying that, Dominic fell silent, closed his eyes, and controlled his urge to drop this damn act and kill them all, but he knew that would only bring him losses.

After looking again at these people engulfed in terror, Dominic snapped his fingers again and said, "Come on, I can't believe you didn't know what your people did to mine. They took their guns and not only shot us, but also attracted the attention of thousands of walkers like fucking amateurs."

But Dominic knew all these people knew what their people had done, so he wasn't interested in them realizing something they already knew; he was looking to figure out why they had really made that decision, of course, as long as there was an obvious reason why they did it.

"I've had many days thinking about it; over and over again, I've looked logically for something that would explain that stupid decision. So I could find two obvious answers; the first is that they're simply stupid and attacked us without any meaning, and the other is that they were desperate to get something valuable."

When Dominic said that, he looked at Ennis, who was the leader of the Vultures, and said, "Since you know my story, and because we're here, don't make me kill you."

There were six men kneeling on the ground and five women, their hands tied behind their backs, their heads down, their faces full of panic and restlessness; next to them, several men stood silently holding a rifle just behind their heads.

He then walked slowly in front of these eleven people. His eyes traveled over each one of them—men of color, women of all ages—and all maintained the same expression.

"So..."

Dominic leaned forward a little, looked kindly at the five people in front of him, and said softly, "Who among you would like to tell me about the location and situation of your shelter? I can make decisions and let you go without any harm! And lastly, who the hell is Teddy, and where is he?"

Upon hearing this, the oldest man in the group of kneelers squinted slightly and looked at the seemingly kind man in front of him. When he raised his head, he was terrified and stuttered, "I... I can say something; please don't hurt any of us."

The other companions at his side were surprised for a moment and turned their heads one after another; although there wasn't much to show, their eyes were full of surprise.

Upon hearing that someone would explain it so soon, Dominic turned his gaze to the older man, nodded in satisfaction, and said with a smile, "Very well, you truly are a smart person, so tell me..."

"I... Our shelter was originally a nomadic group; the people in the church were the last ones of the vultures. Most of our people were killed, and we don't serve any group, as you just mentioned. There's nothing like that; we thought you were bad military."

"Oh, is that so?"

"Yes. That's right!" The older man looked at the man in front of him, who seemed to really not know anything, and a flash of joy shone on his old face, so he quickly said, "If you don't believe me, you can ask one of my companions."

Bang!

But before he could finish speaking, Dominic's face suddenly turned somber, and he suddenly pulled out the gun from his waist, aimed at the head of the older man, and under the horrified eyes of the ten people kneeling beside him, he pulled the trigger without hesitation.

"Bang!"

The older man who received the shot in the head tilted his head back, his eyes were wide open, and a face full of confusion could be seen. He didn't understand why he died this way, and then, after a few seconds, his body leaned forward and fell to the ground.

Looking coldly at the body of the older man on the ground, Dominic looked at the other ten people and said, "There are always people who don't know what to do when clear instructions are given and think others are stupid. I hope... I really hope you're not from the group of fools."
