Chapter 129 Ancient Greek Wizard - Andros the Invincible

Hogwarts.

Throughout the afternoon, Flitwick spent time in the restricted section of the library, checking out information about the Patronus Charm.

The Hogwarts library had the most complete collection of books in the entire magic world.

Since its establishment a thousand years ago, Hogwarts has been collecting books in all areas. Not only that, when the Big Four established Hogwarts, they left behind a large number of priceless tomes.

Many of the ancient magic books even required proficiency in ancient runes to read them.

In the office, Flitwick sat on a chair, holding a grimoire in his hand and carefully flipping through it.

There was also a pile of thick books stacked on the desk, standing at a height of seventy centimetres.

These are all the ancient magic books left behind by the Big Four, Flitwick searched for a whole afternoon in the restricted section and moved all the magic books involving the Patronus Charms to his office.

As the Hogwarts Charms class professor, Flitwick was extremely obsessed with magic. Although Andy's point of view was only a hypothesis, Flitwick thought that Andy's point of view was correct.

Even if there was only a sliver of possibility, it was enough for Flitwick to study it without sleep.

Knock knock knock!

The window was knocked.

Flitwick snapped his fingers and the window opened automatically.

An owl flew in and circled the office before landing on Flitwick's desk.

Flitwick removed the letter and took out some food to send the owl away.

The letter was signed by Andy Collins.

Flitwick put down the book he was holding and opened the envelope to read it.

"Hiss..."

Flitwick sucked in a mouthful of cold air.

The content of the letter became more alarming the more he read.

Bringing magic back to an unstable state?

"How did he do that?"

The Patronus became spiritual, as if it was coming to life?

"Is it really possible that Collins' research has succeeded?"

Unstable magical power can incorporate a wizard's emotions?

"This this this ..."

Andy also gave the example of the wand on the letter.

The wand chooses the wizard, so the characteristics of the wand and the characteristics of the magic power need to match.

The reason why the magic power of different wizards possessed different specifics was because the magic power had 'memorized' the wizard's emotions and personality when it was in an unstable state.

Emotions could affect magic power, and this was proven in many magics.

Flitwick read the contents of the letter twice over.

It had to be said that Andy's point of view was quite reasonable.

If unstable magic power could 'memorize' a wizard's emotions, then the principle behind the formation of Obscurus could be explained.

The fusion of magic power and emotions!

What about the Patronus Charm...?

Completely unable to sit still, Flitwick picked up Andy's letter and hurried to Dumbledore's office.

"Good evening, Filius."

Dumbledore said with a smile, "It looks like you've already gained some results. Have a seat!"

Flitwick sat down across from Dumbledore and waved his wand to elevate his chair, "I'm sorry to bother you at this late hour."

"It's actually quite boring being alone, isn't it?" Dumbledore said slightly mischievously.

"Anything to drink?" Dumbledore then asked.

"Thanks!"

Flitwick didn't say what to drink, but handed Dumbledore Andy's letter, "Albus, have a look at this letter."

Dumbledore hesitated slightly.

"It's okay, it's not a private letter," Flitwick explained.

"Alright then!"

Dumbledore took the letter and read it carefully, "It seems Mr. Collins has brought us another surprise."

"So, what do you think...?" Flitwick asked tentatively.

Dumbledore crossed his arms on his desk and spoke slowly, "The truth is that emotions and magic do affect each other to some extent. Especially... Dark Magic!"

Flitwick reflected on those words.

Researching dark magic in depth, or using it frequently, would affect a wizard's mind.

Then, in turn, having emotions influence magic...it might not be impossible.

Just...

Seemingly thinking of something, Flitwick looked sharply at Dumbledore.

"Yes, Dark Magic is indeed unique in this aspect." Dumbledore sighed.

Obscurus is a dark magic force.

Whether it was emotions affecting magic or magic affecting emotions, dark magic was far superior to white magic in this aspect.

Because happiness is always short-lived, but many hatreds could affect a person's life.

"What about Collins' research?"

Flitwick asked curiously, "If it's true as he said, his magic has returned to an unstable state ... then can the Patronus Charm have as much power as the Obscurus?"

Dumbledore was silent for a moment, "It was just a spell, Filius. The Patronus Charm is not the same as the Obscurus after all."

Dumbledore spoke and glanced again at Andy's letter.

Did Patronus already possess spirituality?

"Filius, do you know Andros?" Dumbledore suddenly asked.

"Andros the Invincible?"

Of course, Flitwick had heard of him, "He was a great wizard from the Ancient Greek era, and it is said that his Patronus was as big as a giant."

Ancient Greek civilization had a long time span, starting from the Cretan and Minoan civilizations, and reaching its heyday through the Homeric and Archaic periods.

The earliest Cretan civilization of the Ancient Greek era was somewhere between 2850 BCE and 1450 BCE.

The time of the demise of the Ancient Greek civilization was 146 BCE.

From this, it could be seen just how ancient the Patronus Charm was.

"Yes!"

Dumbledore lamented, "There were no wands in those times, and Andros was able to cast a giant-sized Patronus by wand-less spellcasting. The world called him the Andros the Invincible in praise of his magic abilities."

Flitwick sighed with some regret at that.

Many of the records from that era had been drowned in the dust of history.

It was only a few years ago that Andros' deeds were discovered, and it was only in 1990 that it was published on a Chocolate Frog card and made known to the public.

"His Patronus...?"

Flitwick asked, "Does Andros' power have anything to do with his Patronus?"

"I am not omnipotent, Filius."

Dumbledore laughed softly and as he spoke, he took out his wand and waved it in the air.

A ghostly blue phoenix flew out of the tip of the wand and circled the office before slowly dissipating in the air.

It was only when the phoenix dissipated that Flitwick withdrew his gaze.

"It's so beautiful, the Phoenix Patronus... can't help but amaze me every time I see it." Flitwick complimented.

Dumbledore smiled, "I'm sure it would be pleased if it could hear your compliments."

"I look forward to that day."

Flitwick got up and said, "It's late today, so I will stop disturbing your rest."

"I'm glad to have someone to talk to." Dumbledore smiled.
