An Overlord's Ascension... Aftermath of a Battle

Sitting on top of his Golden Throne Ainz felt the severing of another Guardian, Gargantua. This time however his mood was unaffected, the sight before him bringing a sense of burgeoning excitement. A seed had been cultivated within his very soul as now before him stood over 100,000 Humans, all gathered from the scum of the Empire.

"Well done Demiurge, you have shown that you have keen foresight."

'Becoming a Demon Lord... I wonder what it feels like...?'

"Your words are too kind Ainz-sama! It is the goal of every floor guardian to achieve greater heights of power for the Supreme Ones and Nazerick!" Aura, Cocytus, Victim and Lilith standing to the side and nodding, Lilith dressed in Mithral Chain Armour, her form like that of a normal woman's except the pure black wings that were folded on her back.

"Nonsense. Every effort that ends in success should be celebrated, even if only in a minor way."

Demiurge became utterly elated as he knelt, waiting for Ainz to take the 'present' he had presented before him. Said 'present' was currently all held there, a mind spell locking their consciousness within the bounds of their normal days. It had taken a significant deal with the man known as Yuuki to be able to manage this feat of kidnapping, the man requesting a favour from Demiurge. The devil found it utterly amusing that a simple man would offer such a deal to a devil, the onus usually falling upon his kind to initiate.

Ainz softly stood, his undead form writhing with power as his robes and various magical equipment hovered around him. Beside him his staff floated, the serpents actively moving and slithering around the central rod of the staff's construction. Stepping forwards he began to step down the stairs of his own throne, finding the blankness stares of thousands and thousands of humans somewhat unsettling. Holding back his emotions however he retained his pace, finally reaching the front of the human ranks.

"This day, you shall all feed my ascension in power within this world... Feel thankful that you can contribute to the utter beauty of Nazerick." Raising his hand the image of a heart emerged in the open space, ready for him to grasp upon. At the same time green circles of Magicule-bound light resonated in circular patterns, thousands of hearts emerging above the singular heart floating before him, crimson threads connecting all of them to this one heart with which he could crush at any moment.

The Guardians held their breath as they watched in bated breath, experiencing the new spell of their master and god. Silence was held for several moments as Ainz slowly reached out his skeletal hand, black mist and smoke arising from it. Finally, with the sounds of a squelching pop is hand grasped onto the heart tightly and squeezed. In a single second 100,000 Humans were eviscerated from the inside out, blood seeping from their eyes as in the next second the discordant plop of bodies hitting the marble floors reverberated.

"With this we will conquer this world."

'So i can possibly find my companions and friends...'

Demiurge was enraptured by his figure as the rest of the Guardians knelt, Lilith coiling her wings around the front of her body. That was when the world voice emerged.

*Individual Ainz Ooal Gown has achieved the required number of Souls for ascension to True Demon Lord*

*Beginning Harvest festival for the Individual Ainz Ooal Gown and all connected beings*

*Harvest Festival will begin, now*

With a discordant flash of energy all of the remnant particles of soul-light fading into illusionary echoes of lives once vibrant, now tossed to utter darkness. One by one the guardians faded into a deep sleep, Lilith fading first as the remaining servants and NPCs of Nazerick also slowly dropped into a deep sleep.

...

Fading from the battlefield where they had just witnessed Silviana eat Gargantua Albedo and Mare heard a voice pierce into their minds, speaking of a Harvest Festival and of their Master Ainz becoming a True Demon Lord. Slumping to the ground within the throne room they rolled down a few stairs, stopping before Ainz's still-standing body.

The other forces of Nazerick already having retreated from the reconnaissance mission through portals used an hour or so ago, they too falling into slumber for this time period.

...

Meanwhile on the battlefield of Tempest, hundreds of thousands corpses lay with blood exuding from wounds long lethal. Crows circled the sky as both sides of the conflict retracted back into their forces. Clean up was underway for the soldiers of tempest, many men and women walking the battlefield and ending the suffering of those who only fell unconscious or were minorly wounded, unable to stand. Pyres were constructed to burn the bodies so disease did not spread and sickness did not blight.

The forest aided in this as many trees subsumed bodies, using the husks of people that once were to foster new life and grow the forest ever greener. Dryads moved amidst the wounded soldiers and citizens, green life magic healing wounds and binding broken bones. Cries of children resounded as they got lost amidst the chaos after a conflict. Merchants gave of their wears freely, dispensing food stuffs and common clothing for citizens that were affected by stray magical attacks.

Several sections of the city, despite Silviana's shields, were damaged. The short period of time where her shield collapsed allowing for a small accumulation of damage. Of the 200,000 or so soldiers that started out in the conflict only 2000 had died so far. Many of them were set aside by Silviana, her Soul syphon cordoning off those souls for the resurrection magic that Rimuru would no doubt try. Speaking of Silviana...

I sat at the head of a long oak table, several of the leaders and commanders of the military eyeing me off as before us all lay a map of the Forest of Jura. The maps itself was of a modest design and sourced by the Adventurers Guild, a merchant had sold it to us. On the map were several small figurines, some of oaken design others of pine or spruce. The one thing that differentiated the figurines was the paint used to lacquer them. One set of figurines was of a blue coloration, sourced from some unique resources that came from Eurazania. The other set being of a maroon colour. Of course the blue was Tempest's Forces and Falmuth's the maroon.

"How many have the Ghost Corp counted amongst their ranks still?"

"The second in command has relayed the numbers to me Benimaru... It seems that the numbers of soldiers they have left is around the 700,000 Mark. Today we have killed 800,000 Humans in total."

Many of he commanders and even Benimaru didn't respond, their faces looking blank and rugged, as if they had just seen their family butchered in front of them. PTSD would be an issue but not one for the current moment, the war was still continuing and we needed to end this over the next day or two. I picked up one of the pieces of their army, specifically one that represented Razen.

"I have killed their arch-mage... We no longer have that threat hanging above us. As far as I see there is no tactical advantage to attacking outwards just yet..."

"Let them crash against our defences and spear themselves... I see no reason in being as barbaric as they are."

The voice of one of the Commanders shone through the general quietness as many turned to look at the rugged Geld who was still equipped in his massive plate armour. A mace swung from the side of his leggings as his Orcish features poked out from his armour. A serious expression was adorned upon his face as a slight shake in his hand showed the strength he had consumed today, his muscles sporadically flexing in strain.

"It is not the point of being barbaric or not... That is purely based on perspective... It is a matter of gains and losses, advantages and disadvantages. I agree that we should stay in our city and let them come to us. But, at the same time, we should not become over confident in our defences and leave them unchanged or bolstered."

Geld sat down with a huff of exhaustion, his armour clinking slightly against the thick furniture. Benimaru looked straight at me, his face showing his lack of energy, but this was quickly switched with sheer fucking will.

"We must get the soldiers that have not done much to switch with those that have and create a rotation. We will have night shifts and day shifts. Those that fought today will be given food and sleep. Night watch will be given coffee and small trail snacks."

"I can arrange that Benimaru-sama!"

One of the lizardmen Commanders raised his scaly hand as Geld too raised his hand, as if to ask for permission to speak. The mood was quickly shifting from relaxation and a digestion of what had happened today to one of disciplined steadfastness.

"Yes Geld-san?"

"My Orcs can start on the defences, we'll follow the shifts as you have said... I believe it better to start now than expect for them to give us time tomorrow."

"Go ahead with that. Now, what I want done..."

From that point on we spent another hour within the Government Building, turned war-room, discussing defensive strategies and logistical supply issues. In the end I created another 500,000 Bullets for the 50cals and over 10,000 for all of the P210s. Would these numbers last? Maybe... Perhaps, but it would at least ensure that protection could be held in the case of a night-time assault.

Stretching as I came out of the war-room I saw Milim and Shuna standing there. Both were looking at me in concern, Milim especially as she ran up to me and then began to look all around me. Shuna was more reserved with her inspection as she, at distance, gazed at my eyes and around my face.

"What is wrong, honey, love?"

Milim stopped in front of me and stared into my eyes, her draconic powers flaring for a second as she used her special sight in an attempt to see something within me. Unfortunately it didn't seem to work as my system played a little trill in my mind.

Invasive Gaze resisted, Permission not Granted to outside entities... Forbidden by

It cut off at that last part, not even a fraction of a glitch or word, phrase or sentence. As if it were too powerful for the system to even attempt naming.

'Gaia and Tiamat are so strong...? Did i get adopted by the creator deities or something?'

Insufficient permissions... Get stronger to find out

'Sassy as fuck, okay... I get it, i am pathetically weak...'

At least you know it

'Bitch, don't even start!'

Too late, I've already started... What yah going to do?

Shuna touched my cheek with her left hand and sent a wave of healing light through me, the slight fatigue I felt disappearing in moments as her loving intentions were felt by every iota of my being.

"Let's go home, kay?"

Milim said this as she took my right hand, Shuna soon dropping her hand and grasping my left with her own.
