Chapter 25 – New forest.

[4 Days ago, at the adventurer guild.]

"What the heck is going on?!"

"Not only none of you manage to find even tracks of that weird unknown monsters, there are also a series of murder taking place on the road?!" – said the guild master.

"Sir…. We just discovered another scene early in the morning." – said an adventurer.

"Is it doing of a same culprit?" – asked the guild master.

"Yes… It wasn't doing of a human but a beast."

"…"

(Fuck.)

(First unknown monster and now people are getting killed left and right on the road?!)

(This far worse when the child of the thousand black legs was running rampant.)

(There is a good chance that the murders on the road were doing of that unknown monster.)

(However, we have right next to no information about this monster.)

(But what if it is doing of a different monster?)

(What if that weird deer wolf hybrid is still in the forest and is just hiding.)

(This thing isn't a plant monster but a plant beast monster.)

(It was eating things in order to sustain itself.)

(Plants are able to use photosynthesis to feed themselves, but many plant monsters don't fallow this logic.)

(Plant monsters are able to use photosynthesis, but for some of them it's not enough to feed them.)

(Sometimes these plants needs to consume things or some plant monsters feed on mana.)

(For example the treant can both use photosynthesis and eat mana to feed itself.)

(However, there are plant monsters that cannot even do photosynthesis at all and have to eat other things to survive. For example, the rat eating plant. A monster that eats small insects and animals.)

(This thing is a beast type plant monster, so with that in mind, this thing needs to hunt to sustains itself and photosynthesis isn't enough for it.)

(Those two even saw this thing leaving behind an eaten corpse of the thousand black legs, meaning this thing really need to eat thing to sustain itself.)

(All the victims body were particle eaten, meaning that its high chance that it was doing of that unknown monster.)

(But the problem is that the distance between the attacks is quite large, meaning that monster seem to be quite fast.)

(It also seem to be traveling on the road.)

(We could lay ambushes on the roads, but there is a big problem.)

(When that party of two encounter it, they described the monsters as smart monster that was thinking.)

(This monsters possess intelligent!)

(Would be able to lay a trap in time before it runs away? Or would it even fall for the trap in the first place?)

(No. Laying trap won't work. We need to chase it.)

(But one rider won't do. We have to have at least 5 or 6, since we don't know where it would go.)

"We needs his finest riders to hunt down the unknown monsters before more victims appear!" – said the guild master.

(This is the forest that was on the map!)

(It took me more than a week to get here, since I needed to take a lot of detours, but I'm finally here!)

(Still… I think I ended up making a lot of mess.)

(I once saw something like a knight riding on the horse 2 days ago.)

(Where they looking for me?)

(I somehow managed to avoid the detection for days, but I wasn't able to eat anything because of that.)

(Still, it seems I'm still fine.)

(I guess its thanks to me being part wolf. Well, there is also the fact that I was stealing some food from the people I killed and ate them as small snacks.)

(Still, it would be a good idea if I eat anything right now.)

(Well, first thing first I have to yet to find anything, so let's go already.)

Since the map wasn't any more useful for me, I decided to drop it before then entering the forest.

Honestly, I could tell by just looking, this place was nothing alike to my birth place.

The trees here were gigantic!

I mean like they were tall like freaking buildings.

The entire sky was covered by the tree branches, making the sun light having hard time entering he place in some spots.

This place really gives a strong fantasy vibe, as if it was something like a forest where spirits and elves live.

Speaking of elves, are there different races in this world beside humans like elves, demi humans, dwarfs, vampires, demons, angels and other humanoid type beings?

I saw goblins and hobgoblins, but they were monsters, right?

Well, time will tell.

But honestly, getting ability to talk or understand what humans or those other races would be good.

Considering that those humans were talking when they were facing me, means that they knew that I didn't understand the word they said.

If I had ability to understand their speech or somehow learn their language, it would make things WAY easier.

Well, it's not like I know a way to get a skill that would allow me to understand their speech or anything, since I don't know what kind of conditions would I need to fulfil.

And as for learning, yea this is not in the options as well.

I would need a translator or a book with pictures that describe everything single word out there.

There is also my situation that I'm a freaking monsters and humans are hostile to me.

So, yea, I think I can forget about this for now. Maybe in the future things will change or something, who knows?

Anyway, so far…. Its peacefully?

This place gives an extremely strong fantasy vibe, so I thought I would encounter monsters from get go or something.

Honestly, the first thing I encounter was a deer.

Like a normal deer.

Not a monster or anything.

Just a deer.

I decided to attack it and eat it.

It was really normal deer.

It didn't gave much EXP, but it was quiet taste.

Honestly speaking, the only normal animal I encounter before were mices.

To be honest right now, I've been wondering, maybe there are no animals but only monsters? Maybe that mice I encounter before was monster as well.

But now that I saw and ate that deer, I can tell that normal animal existence.

Then by any chance, the animals can also evolve like monsters?

If so, would they become monsters after evolving?

Honestly, I'm quiet curios about this right now.

However, if this forest really isn't dangerous, then I can use this place.

I can finally began training my magic and skills for real!

True.

Leveling up and evolving is good, but now that I have some peace, I can finally practice magic in peace.

Not only that, but the pursuers won't be able to catch up to me in this forest since I can use trees to slow down their horse.

Still, I better if I look around bit more.

I only got here and don't know if this place is really SAFE.

I badly need to develop and improve my mana detection skill as well as mana detection methods.

Is there a way for me to detect something that is hiding its mana like that thing?

Or… Is it possible for me to imitate what that thing did with hiding its mana?

Practice mana control.

Try to learn new spells.

Try to get better at using magic.

Try and learn new skills if possible.

Experiment with skills.

Experiment with magic and spells.

Experiment with a skills and magic combination.

There was lot to do.

The sooner I start, the better. But first I have to scout around.

After scouting a bit, I found more animals like owls, bunnies, deer and wolfs, but I also found monsters.

A plant monster that is some sort of mushroom monster that walks all fours and charged at me like some sort of boar.

Its body was bit tough, but I managed to kill it.

The head part of it was bit hard, but the side were very soft and tasty.

If I could have cooked it or something, I guess it would turn into something delicious.

Anyway, the next monster I encounter was an orc.

Orc are usually portraited as green skinned muscular humanoid monsters with tusk fangs or a humanoid monster that is either a pig or a boar.

The one I encounter was a pig one.

It was wearing rags to cover its private parts and it was also carrying around an axe.

It seemed similar to the goblins I encountered, but I shouldn't look down on it.

It was bigger and I didn't know its strength.

I tried rushing at it and land a surprise attack.

I manage to bit its knee off and make it fall, but then it tried an desperate attack with its axe, but it was slower than I expended, so it wasn't really hard for me to dodge the attack and make his axe hit the tree instead.

Afterwords I went for the kill and then finish it off???….But… That was easy???

I though it would be… I don't know… Dangerous? It did looked bit more intimidating than other monsters I encounter before, beside the centipede bastard.

Its flesh was bit hard, but not really very hard or anything. In terms of defense, I say they are above humans and goblins as well as strength, but if they are not armored. These pig monsters skin was tough, but it wasn't tough like armor or something.

Honestly, it was easy, but when I saw the damage, it did some damage to the tree, meaning that it has some physical strength, but it wasn't very fast. So its main points its endurance and strength?

But it was not a very strong monster. I say it's around strength of the goblin leader. So for current me its no big deal or anything.

So it was stronger than gobbling and it was tougher and physically stronger, but that is all. It would take be a bit longer to beat it than goblin as my previous evolution, but I think I should have managed somehow.

But I shouldn't look down on them too much. These pigs have some means of wounding me. So if I look down on it, I may end up getting nasty injury.

Not only that, I only entered this forest.

What kind of monsters are lurking deeper in this place?

No.

This is not the thing that I'm worried about the most.

Where are humans?

Adventures hunt monsters, right? And this place has monsters, right?

Then why I haven't seen or spotted any humans?!

No!

I haven't spotted anything related to humans!

Even when I was getting near this place, I haven't spotted a single knight or anything!

Is there a reason why humans are not willing to go near this place.

Something is definitely going on in this place.

This place…. Is weird.

Is there something in this place?

Should I run away?

I don't know where I could go.

This place was my only option I had.

If I decide to leave this place, then I don't know where I can go.

The humans are aware of me and are even hunting me.

If I leave this place, only death awaits.

This place may be a prison I chose to be my new home.
