Maverick's frustration

VALENCIA'S POV

I woke up feeling groggy but strangely well-rested.

"You are awake, Luna," I heard a voice beside me, and I turned to look at the girl, who was probably a couple of years older than me.

Her timid and gentle gaze made me furrow my brows.

"I am. Sorry, but I don't recognize you," I said.

The girl smiled and nodded.

She stood from her place before making a ninety-degree bow, her hair sprawling before her face, and I felt my lips twitching.

"I am Lovely, Luna. Our alpha has appointed me to attend to you as your caretaker from now on," the girl said, and I raised my brows.

Since when did I start needing a caretaker? Wasn't Maverick going overboard?

"I am grateful, but your services are not needed here," I smiled, hoping she wouldn't feel weird. Who would've thought my words would bring tears to her eyes?

I felt a little anxious immediately.
