Chapter 42. The Moon & The Sun

Leonie's gaze softened as she looked at Harper, her voice gentle. "I can sleep on the sofa; it's wide enough."

But Harper shook her head adamantly, her expression stern. "No, you go sleep on the bed. I'll sleep on the sofa." She paused, her features softening. "Don't make me feel like an even bigger jerk. I've been one enough."

Without another word, Harper took a pillow and a blanket and made her way out of the bedroom, leaving Leonie to process the weight of their conversation.

Leonie hesitated for a moment before speaking up again. "Can I sleep with Luna?" she asked, her voice tinged with sadness. "It'll be hard for me to see her again after this."

Harper offered Leonie a bittersweet smile. "If she wants to, go ahead," she replied, knowing full well that the little pup was a total mommy's girl, utterly devoted to Harper.
