First Job

Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot was many things.

He was greedy, He was ruthless, He was powerful.

He was a top-of-the-line, Uppercase G, Gangster.

But one thing that separated Mr. Cobblepot from other crooks and crims in the city of Gotham, is that he repays his debts.

So when he found out Delilah Forrest, A woman he owes a life debt to, was taking care of a kid, He decided to make the old woman's life easier.

Sadly, that isn't really how things worked out, but that was fine for Mr Cobblepot.

You learn to roll with the punches when you get to his place in the world.

So he decided that Delilah's employee would replace her as caretaker for Rose Forrest.

But what does he discover after a quick search in the young man's apartment?

A costume.

A very expensive costume.

A costume that hides the identity of whoever was wearing it, something that wouldn't be out of place on a vigilante, running around causing trouble.

So the plan changed.

Richard Fisk will be working for The Penguin, He'll get paid handsomely and he'll get to keep the suit.

All he has to do in return is take care of Rose Forrest and do the Penguin's work.

And it all starts with a little deal.

Gotham Docks - 22:30 - July 14th, 2004

A Group of men is seen driving up to a warehouse, parking outside, and turning off the lights.

"You sure this is the place?" One of the men asked the Driver, who nodded in return and exited the vehicle.

"It is, We go inside, give them the money, and the drugs are ours," He said as he took a pistol from the cup holder of the car and hid it inside his sweatshirt's pocket.

"But we don't have the money," A third person added, His bald head covered in ink.

"So? We have these," The Driver showed his gun off, and the first passenger laughed as he too grabbed a pistol.

The Bald tattooed man looked uncomfortable at how the situation was developing.

"But, This is The Penguin we're talking about here," He said, nonetheless grabbing his own pistol.

"So?" The Driver asked with a smile, "He's too busy trying to deal with that Metropolis gang, the one-thousand or whatever their name was, He wouldn't even know his men are missing."

"Fine..." The Bald man sighed and joined the other two as they walked to the other side of the warehouse, an empty briefcase held in the arm of the passenger.

Around the back of the warehouse, facing the waters of Gotham, the Warehouse doors were open, letting the cool late-summer air of the city in, making the entire place damp and uncomfortable for the warm-dressed men.

"Logan Kirkwood, Am I to presume?" A voice called out to the group, and the Driver turned his head to see who was addressing him.

Turning to look as well, The Bald man's unease grew seeing the attire of the man.

"You're not the Penguin, Who the fuck are you?" The Driver, Logan Kirkwood, asked the well-dressed man with the purple mask and the rose in his pocket.

"My name is irrelevant, but you may call me Rose if you wish," The man said, his calm attitude at the situation only made the bald man more and more uncomfortable with the plan Logan came up with.

"Yeah yeah, Anyway, You got the stuff?" Logan asked Rose, his leg tapping impatiently on the concrete floor of the warehouse, likely uncomfortable with the number of people around.

Not only was the Penguin not here, instead this Rose fuck, but Penguin's men were all around the warehouse, watching them.

"By Stuff, I assume you mean the narcotics you requested?" Rose said as he lifted a gloved hand up, signing for one of the men to bring over a large bag filled with bottles of opioids.

Logan moved to take the bag, only for a pistol to appear in his face, causing him to start sweating profusely from under his Sweatshirt.

The Damp environment of the docks wasn't helping either.

"Hey! What's the deal?!" The Passenger yelled as he pulled out his own gun, moving to aim it at Rose before he started screaming in pain as a silenced gunshot rang out across the Warehouse, causing him to drop to the floor, holding his bleeding hand as he was forced to drop the gun.

"Apologies," Rose calmly said, The Bald man and Logan sweating uncomfortably as their mate was bleeding in pain on the floor nearby, "But it's only customary for the Money to exchange hands before the business transaction is fulfilled," He told the group, his eyes hidden under the shades of his mask likely piercing through them.

Whoever this guy was, He was a professional.

"And so," Rose continued, a push with his pistol forcing Logan to take a few steps back, "Perfect," He whispered once the Driver of the group stood away from him.

"The Money," He said simply, pointing at the briefcase on the floor, the blood from their now quietly whimpering friend covering the metal case, "Why isn't it in the case?"

Logan and the Bald man froze at that.

"I- I don't know what you mean," Logan said, trying his hardest to sound sure.

"That Briefcase that your friend was carrying," Rose pointed a finger at the man on the floor, his hand in his mouth as he sucked on the bullet wound, trying to stop the bleeding, "That Briefcase is a 1998 model Kord Industries metal carrier case, very secure, very cheap, and also very easy to identify." He explained, one of the nearby men moving to pick up the case and turn it around, revealing an old scratched Kord Industries logo.

"Moreover, This specific model was known to have a very specific trait," Rose continued on, getting the man with the case the sign to open it.

"It makes a very specific sound when it falls onto the ground empty, thanks to the inside cushioning the company used on the cases," Rose explained as the man opened the case, revealing it to indeed be empty.

"Hey..." Logan said as he took a step back from the purple-masked gangster, "Listen... I didn't want to do this, But here I go!" He yelled as he pulled out the gun he hid in a pocket, and immediately dropped down to the floor.

A Bullet hole in his forehead as the gun in Rose's hand smoked from the barrel.

The Bald man, seeing one friend bleeding on the ground and the other dead, decided to do the smart thing and lift his arms up.

"Please don't shoot me!" He cried, his fearful appearance a far cry from his menacing tattooed looks.

Rose stared at him for a moment before standing up from where he sat and pocketing the gun, "Grab them, Get rid of the body, clean up the one on the floor, and take this man to see someone else, The Boss will deal with this himself," Rose said and the goons around the warehouse started moving about, three of them silencing the one bleeding on the floor and disposing of the tow bodies, another two moved and grabbed the bald man, pushing him into one of the many cars parked around the warehouse before driving off, and the rest either getting ready to clean up the blood or packing up the bags.

"You got all that?" Rose asked one specific goon, hidden behind a pile of boxes and crates, a camera in his hand as he recorded the entire scene.

He nodded.

"Good, Hopefully seeing this, The Boss will give me some more time." Rose sighed to himself as he smoothed out the creases in his suit and moved to one of the vans.

"You know the place," He said as he took the passenger seat, getting the driver to start moving.

...................

"Kid, I don't know what to say," Oswald Cobblepot told me after he burned the recording of the deal, "You outdid yourself," He smiled widely at me, his short stature and large nose causing his smile to look like some sort of horrible monster.

"The Money will reach your bank account tomorrow," He told me as he stood up, gesturing me to follow him.

"How's the girl doing?" He suddenly asked as we walked in the hallways behind the Iceberg Lounge.

"She's doing well, I think," I told him honestly, "She doesn't seem as distraught as other kids her age would be at the situation, but seeing what she already went through, I wouldn't really say that's out of place,"

Oswald sighed at that, "Seeing your parents die does that," he said, a frown on his face before he sighed again and patted me on the arm, seeing as he was too short to pat me on the shoulder.

"You've done good work today Kid, I'll contact you soon," And with those words, he left me.

At least I still have my suit.
