Her fate

"Yes your Majesty, I'll marry him." She said quietly.

Elena's eyes brightened, "Thank you so much Nyx. This is so kind of you." She smiled.

She nodded, "You're welcome your Majesty." She tried to smile.

"The marriage rites shall be held tomorrow. We must commence on the preparations." She smiled and cupped Nyx's face, "You're surely going to be a very beautiful bride." She smiled.

Nyx blushed again and dropped her eyes.

Elena stood up, "Thank you once again." She smiled.

She also stood up, "It's okay your Majesty, you don't have to thank me." She said.

Elena chuckled, "I'll take my leave."

Nyx bowed, "Okay your Majesty."

Elena left the room.

Nyx sat on her bed again, she didn't want to disappoint her, that's what she had been doing all her life, never disappointing anyone.

She closed her eyes and held her head, "I pray I go through all these." She murmured.

The door burst open, Lisa and Andrew stormed into the room.

"You wanted to object to the wedding? Why did you have to go disgrace all of us?" She asked angrily.

Nyx was silent, she didn't have an answer to their questions.

"Why are you this dumb? I still wondered till today if I'm your father?" He shook his head.

Lisa sighed, "I honestly regret giving birth to you. Don't do anything to spoil all this. Not everyone has the opportunity to be the Luna of a pack." Lisa said firmly.

Nyx nodded, still unsure of what to say.

Andrew held his head, "Why did you come here anyway? You should be downstairs."

Nyx gulped, "I wanted some alone time."

Lisa eyed her angrily, "Is that so? Come down quickly, Lord Oberon would like to speak with you."

"Not a word about all these to him or else." Andrew narrowed his gaze referring to the cruel treatment they meted on her.

Nyx covered her mouth and nodded.

"Good. Comport yourself in the best way you can." Lisa told her.

A knock on the door interrupted their discussion, Lisa looked at Andrew and they quickly acted normal.

Lisa went to the door and opened. Oberon stood outside the door.

"Oh, your Majesty." She grinned and bowed, "I was just about to bring Nyx to you." She laughed.

"I have come here already, it doesn't make a difference now. Leave us alone." He signaled them both to leave.

Lisa nodded at Andrew and they both left the room.

Nyx stood up, fiddling with her hands, her eyes dropped to the floor.

"I'm taking you away huh?" He walked towards her with a wide grin.

She gulped. He stood in front of her, "Look at me."

She slowly raised her eyes to look at his.

He smirked, "We meet again princess." He took her hand and kissed it.

She flinched when his lips touched her hand. He raised his head, still holding her hand.

"You don't have to be scared, I won't eat you." He rolled his eyes.

She laughed nervously, "Good day your Majesty." She bowed slightly.

"Mmh, I told them to let me take you with me today. Goodness knows what your parents might do to you before the end of tomorrow." He shook his head.

She sighed sadly, "At least, I'll have some peace of mind if I left them." She closed her eyes and exhaled.

"You're coming with me, there's no two ways about it." He said with a note of finality.

She looked at him, "Why me?"

"Mmh?"

"Why do you want to marry me? You could have married my sister."

He arched his brow and looked at the door, "Is it a bad thing to be the only female I know around here?" He looked at her, his eyes burning into hers. She blinked.

"The only female you know? How's that even possible?" She creased her brows.

"I don't know." He shrugged.

She blinked, this was one confusing man.

"Are you ready to be my queen? I really need one right now." He looked intently at her.

She shook her head, "I don't know how to be a Luna." She whined.

"You don't have to know anything about it. Just marry me and be the Luna, that's it."

She looked at him dazed and looked at her reflection in the mirror.

She slowly walked to it, "Do I look like a Luna?" She shook her head, "I definitely don't." She sighed.

He held his head, "Do I have to repeat this? You don't have to look like or know how to be a Luna. Just be the Luna." He sighed.

She turned to face him, "Why?"

He thinned his lips, "You don't have to know... for now. Just be my Luna." He replied.

She squinted her eyes suspiciously, he had some secrets he wasn't ready to spill, this made her feel unsafe.

"The marriage rites are tomorrow." He said.

She kept quiet and sighed, "This is so hard to take in." She said quietly.

Oberon sighed and sat on the bed, "Stop thinking too much. The marriage is tomorrow, why bother yourself about something you can't change." He rolled his eyes.

What he said was very true, she didn't have the power to change whatever had been decided on her behalf. She wiped her eyes and sniffled.

"Yes, it's tomorrow." She said, her voice choked.

He turned to look at her, "What? Are you crying?"

She wiped her tears, sniffed and shook her head, "No, I'm not crying." She tried sounding strong but her voice betrayed her.

Oberon shook his head, "And she's that emotional." He rolled his eyes.

He stood up, "Come with me." He said.

She looked at him, "Where to?"

He tried to sound as calm as possible, "That's because you're supposed to get ready at the palace and to take you away from here early." He explained.

She looked at her wardrobe, "I haven't time for packing. I don't even want to pack." She said the other sentence to herself.

"You just have to come with me whether you want to pack or not. This pack is in need of a Luna and an Alpha king." He said firmly.

Her eyes teared up, she palmed her face, she didn't want him to see her tears.

Oberon's lips turned downwards, "When you're done crying, you can come downstairs."

She heard his steps and the door shut. She removed her hands from her face, sat on the ground and began to sob.

Life wasn't fair, she couldn't refuse even though she really wanted to refuse. There was no one she could run to, no one who would stand on her behalf.

Life had always treated her like a ball, it threw and kicked her anywhere it wanted. It didn't matter where she landed or how it would affect her, she was just being kicked around.

She sobbed until she could sob no more.

Risa pushed her door open, she walked in with a scowl.

"You have to go. They're waiting for you." She folded her arms and looked away angrily.

Nyx sighed and stood up, she wiped her tears and walked to the door.

There was no way she was changing her fate, it was already written down.
