A Reflection

The night was at its end, utterly quiet and still. Only the occasional cracks and pops from the dying fire punctuated the silence of the camp, but even those failed to arouse the two sleeping by each side of it.

 

Zarqa glanced from Ali Baba to Sindbad as they breathed softly, tucked in their sheets, before focusing back on the ambers.

 

It wouldn't be long before the sun would rise up, so there was no need to restoke it.

 

They took turns watching out during the night. Although Zarqa would be able to spot any person daring to approach them from a far distance already, neither Ali Baba nor Sindbad wanted to leave matters to chance, which she agreed on.

 

Reassured that both of them were sound asleep and wouldn't wake up any moment soon, she reached into her satchel and pulled out a certain hand mirror.
