As he was lost in thought, he realized that the raindrops were no longer falling on his face. Opening his eyes, Ethan felt his lips stretch into a helpless smile.
"Sorry."
His body was exhausted, and it was possible that the figure in front of him was really her.
He felt that he could kind of understand why Adelina had spoken her truth in a moment like this. Just the sight of her began to fill his hopeless heart with some warmth.
"I know that my behavior won't change anything. I know I'm being unnecessarily stubborn."
Adelina remained silent as she gazed down at Ethan. When he saw that she was not responding in anger, Ethan let out a tired sigh. It didn't matter if she was merely a hallucination. Even if he truly bared his heart out to her now, it wouldn't change anything. She would not accept him.
"You don't have to accept me. And I won't force you to stay by my side."
