They sat down under the furthest wide parasol and her father proceeded to open the bento boxes without delay.
At the very first sight, Alix couldn't help being marvelled. They were neat, colourful, beautiful and filled with variety like rice, mushrooms, sushi, shredded chicken, egg rolls, vegetables and fruit slices.
"Wow." She said slowly. "Father, where did you buy this? It's amazing, totally amazing." It looked so professionally made that she planned to patronize the restaurant as long as the taste was delightful.
"Your mother made this." He replied so naturally without thinking.
His eyes widened and he gasped soon after responding to her. He looked at her quickly with an apologetic expression. The words had slipped out carelessly.
"Sorry, I didn't...." he bit his lower lip and shook his head. He didn't want to make her sad.
