Re-populate the earth

Sitting at the dining table here was no different from sitting at the Zhang dining table lately. The awkward smiles, the tension, angry accusing stares, unsaid words.

Alix was okay, she was not the one experiencing those things, it was the others at the table, Billi and Jing Hee in particular. Her grandmother and aunt were the ones with awkward smiles.

It was annoyingly silent and Alix figured that she might as well break the ice. "Well, why is everyone quiet? I thought you would be happy to see us." She smiled at Jing Hee and Billi provocatively and said, "Guys, we were invited. My ghost would not darken the golden doors of your Lin family otherwise as you put it so clearly Jing Hee." 

"Older sister..." Lin Billi called out softly but there was a veiled warning in her tone, telling Alix to shut up.
