You should probably ask them if they could incorporate plant DNA, into their hives and other buildings, plus the creep. Because normally, the creep produced by the hives, and some buildings, get rid of the plants. You know, the things that through the processing of materials for their continued existence, produce a byproduct called oxygen; the thing that he needs to live, if he doesn't alter himself. Also, since this is reality, not the game, hives and other zerg buildings are really big; they could incorporate plant DNA to use all that surface area to get extra energy from the stars on the planets they conquer/are in the process of conquering. As long as they get the ratio right, so then they don't consume the worlds they're on; through the high consumption rate that the Zerg are known for. Plus, possibly see if they can use the creep to invigorate the plants (through the creep sending materials to them for their growth); as such incorporating them into the overall Hive (meaning any extra energy they make goes to the creep, and as such the hives/zerg), making it so if a marine hides behind a tree. Just close that tree's intake of materials/have the creep suck materials/biomass out of it, and watch it wither away; while they're just sitting there dumbfounded, and have a hydralisc snipe them. Plus, with the creep transporting so many materials, animals will protect it. After all, they'll see it as great territory; when they want to eat, just look down and eat like the zerg. You could even like someone else did with the zerg, and isolate certain areas; and release a virus that makes it so evolution goes fast, to get a multitude of different DNA samples out of these sanctuaries. Also see what time period you're in, if you're in somewhere like the brood Wars; then their creep tumors are more like creep towers, that while spreading creep also attack. Should introduce them to the concept of creep tumors, that could evolve into creep towers; that way, while at first, they'll just be spreading creep at a lesser cost of biomass. They could later be evolved into creep towers, to deal with enemies. So to summarize all of this. 1. Have them get the upgrade, that the Zerg get after their queen of blades becomes a Xel'naga, AKA plants and creep go well together plus animals (getting a passive input of biomass, via the creep replacing decomposers; as in whenever something is done hunting and they leave the body after getting what they wanted from it, the creep consumes it. Also buildings making use of the area they take up, through photosynthesis). 2. Make sanctuaries (small places where a zerg virus is released on the local Wildlife, that makes evolution be on drugs to get many DNA samples). 3. Introduce creep tumors/towers (so that creep can spread faster, through the use of less biomass/the areas that have already been taken, can be defended better).
