Seeing the appearance of the big-headed man, all the Avengers felt as if they were slapped in the face, especially the scientists among them, like Tony and Hank Pym.
They had just been bragging about the Avengers Base's defensive facilities, boasting that not even a fly could sneak in undetected. Yet, now a big-headed man appeared out of nowhere without their notice. If this wasn't a public slap in the face, what was it?
Seeing the hostility from everyone, the bald man simply waved his hand and then fixed his profound gaze on Clark, the first to notice him: "You are quite powerful, young warrior. Let me introduce myself. My name is Uatu, a Watcher in the universe."
Clark frowned slightly upon hearing this.
The Watcher, Uatu?
This was another character from Marvel Comics that he was somewhat familiar with.
The Watchers are a mysterious alien race, born at the dawn of the universe, appearing alongside the Elders of the Universe.
Initially, they thought their technology belonged to the entire universe and began assisting a nascent race on a planet to evolve and develop. However, this race eventually corrupted and destroyed their planet due to technological advancement!
Since then, the Watchers decided not to interfere in any events concerning life forms in the universe, choosing only to observe.
This is the origin of the universe's Watchers.
Initially, Clark had no particular impression of what a Watcher was. It was only after seeing these big-headed figures in the post-credits scenes of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" and out of curiosity researching them online that he learned the above information.
Moreover, the Uatu in front of them was an exception among the Watchers. He was specifically responsible for observing the development of human civilization on Earth. Unlike other Watchers, he developed a deep affection for humanity over his long observation period, often stepping in to guide them during significant crises.
Over time, fans gave him the nickname "Intervener Uatu."
Knowing that the visitor was a powerful being with no hostility towards Earth, Clark immediately retracted his hostility and asked: "Then, Mr. Uatu, may I ask why you have suddenly visited the Avengers Base? Is there something you wish to instruct us on?"
By now, the Avengers were no longer surprised by Clark's prescient abilities. Seeing him suddenly adopt a gentler attitude towards the unexpected big-headed arrival, they all lowered their hostility and stood silently behind Clark, ready to follow his lead.
Uatu then said, "We Watchers absolutely do not interfere in any events of the universe in principle. However, I can give you a reminder about the fate connections between time branches."
Hearing this, everyone was shocked and curious but remained silent, adopting a listening posture, ready to hear what he had to say.
Uatu continued righteously, "When a universe's timeline branches due to certain reasons, all parallel timelines are in principle equal. However, they are inseparably connected by fate."
"Simply put, if a significant disaster occurs in one parallel timeline that cannot be resolved, similar crises will inevitably occur in parallel timelines." As he spoke, Uatu's gaze fell on the future Scott Lang in the detention room: "The future he comes from will face a colossal crisis sweeping across the entire universe. Without external interference, the chances of safely navigating this crisis are less than one in ten million."
Clark's lips curled into an amused smile: "Mr. Uatu, are you suggesting we should try to assist them as much as possible?"
"I haven't expressed any opinions." Uatu firmly shook his big head, earnestly explaining: "I will not interfere with any decisions you make. Whatever choice you make is entirely up to you. I have merely offered some well-intentioned reminders, nothing more."
After finishing, Uatu's figure vanished from everyone's sight as if he had never been there.
Tony couldn't help but wonder, "Was I just hallucinating?"
"It wasn't a hallucination," Clark stated confidently. "Uatu was indeed here and then left. His appearing and disappearing seem magical, but he simply used the ability to jump through space, similar to my own methods."
Tony, feeling somewhat jealous, said: "I feel like you're bragging, but there's no evidence."
"You don't have to be envious. If you find it interesting, you could try applying this technology to your suits. The alien data I brought back includes records on space jump technology. Though, achieving what Uatu and I have done has no successful precedent in the universe. But you can try; after all, you are Tony Stark."
With Tony having managed time travel technology, Clark thought it intriguing to suggest space jump tech research to him.
Tony's smile turned mischievous: "Are you praising me, Clark? I'm flattered!"
Clark patted Tony's shoulder and said sincerely, "Indeed, I am praising you. A heart of steel in a fleshly body, a mortal among gods—these accolades definitely suit the future you."
Tony's eyes lit up: "And what about you?"
Clark humbly smiled and waved his hand: "If we're talking about power levels in the universe, there's no need for comparisons because I am a god."
Tony now regretted engaging in the conversation.
It was all a setup!
A naked setup!
Why did I have to respond, why did I ask?
Ignoring the frustrated Tony, Clark turned his attention to the future Ant-Man in the detention room. The latter, seeing Clark finally noticing him, eagerly asked, "Are you willing to give me some Pym Particles now?"
"No!" Clark shook his head lightly. Just when Scott Lang thought all hope was lost and began to despair, Clark continued, "Not just the Pym Particles. I've decided to accompany you personally, to help your timeline overcome this crisis!"
Clark's decision wasn't just due to a surge of heroism or solely because of Uatu's theory on fate connections.
The main reason was his God-tier BGM system!
After Uatu left, Clark received a special system notification:
Receiving attention from an important person in an alternate timeline, temporarily adding a system mission feature, and receiving a system mission: Redressing Regrets.
Redressing Regrets: Visit the "Avengers 4" timeline, reverse the tragic future, and save the superheroes who would have been sacrificed in the final battle.
Mission Reward: Awakening 1 BGM for each superhero saved.
Mission Penalty: None
(Note: The God-tier BGM system will be temporarily ineffective during the mission. Please choose carefully!)
Initially, Clark was reluctant to go without the God-tier BGM system, but as he hesitated, he remembered what the Cosmic Consciousness told him on Sakaar.
Maybe the BGMs obtained during this mission would be very important to him?
Regardless, Clark decided to give it a try.
With his current power level, even without the God-tier BGM system, he was confident in his ability to face any challenge.
Could there really be any danger in that timeline that he couldn't handle?
Hearing Clark's words, Scott Lang hesitated: "I appreciate your enthusiasm, but you should first understand the level of danger involved..."
Clark smiled lightly and countered: "With the time branches already diverging, are you sure you can successfully return to your future without our help?"
Scott Lang was stunned, realizing he hadn't considered this problem,
and it was beyond his ability to solve.
Seeing him silent, Clark continued: "We have Tony, Banner, and even Surya and Hank Pym here. We can try to improve the quantum suits to address the issue of chaotic time branches."
After a pause, Clark dropped a bombshell: "Recently, I fought Thanos. Alone, I annihilated his entire army, killed three of the Black Order, and blew up his flagship, turning it into a firework in space. Thanos ultimately chose to flee rather than face me head-on."
Scott Lang was surprised and then overjoyed. Was this Avenger he had never met really that formidable?
Releasing the future Ant-Man, several scientists began researching improvements to the quantum suits, while Clark teleported to England to find the older Captain America.
Learning that the Ant-Man from his timeline had traveled here, the older Cap was bewildered.
After recovering from his shock, he asked Clark: "What do you want to know?"
"The details of that battle, starting from Ant-Man's return, as detailed as possible. Especially the sacrifices made by the Avengers, don't leave anything out. For some special reasons, I plan to visit this timeline and prevent the tragedy that was destined to happen. You should know I have the power to do so."
The older Cap, after a moment of silence, finally showed an immensely relieved expression and began: "In that battle, we lost two comrades, Tony and Natasha..."
